Hello Doctor, thanks so much for this informative video. I've visited this castle many times but have not been able to find any archaeological information on it so far, in English or Arabic. What I did find implied that it was built by the Nabahina dynasty in the 1200s, as a means to defend against the Hormuz princes (this is from the Bradt Guide to Oman which was published in 2017). What I would like to ask is: Is there any way to get definitive information on this structure, who built it and when? Many thanks!

There is a ruined hilltop settlement nearby (on the other side of the Sohar-Al Buraimi road and a little closer to Al Buraimi) which was recently visited by archaeologists. It has a large amount of pottery which has been dated also to the 13th century, so it is possible this was the settlement attached to this fortress, although they may not be directly related, as the Wadi Jizi plain is full of ruins and tombs covering thousands of years...

There is no accurate source of information...but according to the type of construction and the bricks used in construction, experts in the ministry expect that it dates back to the period that I referred to in the video...and if you would like to visit the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, we can go to them to collect more information.
