Does it just turn into nonsensical rhythmic noise for regular people lol?
Obviously I agree that Hozier is an incredible lyricist, arguably one the best of our generation. That goes without saying. And my decade-long obsession with his music has deepened the further I dive into his lyrics. However, I do think it's a tad elitist to judge how others enjoy music. Some folks just don't process music in the way you do. Meaning some people are super lyrics-focused, some just enjoy the overall "vibe" of the song or particular elements of the instrumentation, and many people (like myself) fall somewhere in between. And they're all valid. Hozier himself has said he doesn't mind if people aren't doing dissertation-level analysis of his lyrics at all times while listening; he's just happy they're enjoying the music. While I do cringe when people think Cherry Wine is a romantic love song, I won't begrudge anyone for enjoying his music however it lands for them
So good!!!!! Another Hozier live session that you should check out is his cover of Do I Wanna Know because that is pure perfection. Arctic Monkeys’ original version is already a masterpiece but Hozier’s version brings out such raw emotions you feel when you experience unrequited love. So beautiful.

Yes! I saw him in Phoenix in 2019, and I literally felt like I was in a church during Movement. Those harmonies surrounding me in sound was as close to religion as I get.

I've only seen Hozier live once, back in 2015. It was a small concert in Italy, part of a blues festival of some kind, maybe 1000 people alltogether. At the beginning of the gig, I somehow managed to trip over some cables and badly scraped my knee on the cobblestone. However, I did not even notice that until the end of the concert. Maybe it was adrenalin, maybe the sweet bliss of Hozier's voice, but it somehow distracted me from the searing pain of my bleeding leg. And yes, there's few live gigs that come this close to a religious experience. His voice is unbelievable live. Definitely can't wait to see him again, as soon as the pandemic will allow.
Something about the way this live video was edited or recorded seemed to dull his vocals and bring the instruments to the forefront, which is a crime because his voice is so powerful in this song
I think Hozier is a whole package and every time I listen to his songs it gets even better. Pretty voice, powerful lyrics( almost poetic), and a fantastic band. Also, he's such a sweetheart, and for the cherry on top, he is a handsome and tall sweetheart.

I'm irish so i've been lucky to see him live quite a lot but the first time i seen him live was at Slane which is an outdoor venue set in a valley with a castle on the hill above. The weather when he was on went from sun to rain and the whole crowd was moved, it honestly was like a religious experience!
