I was in the crowd for this race - possibly the most excited I’ve been in my life. I clapped so much I was practically beating bloody stumps together by the end of it. 8 years on and I must have watched it 20 times on this channel. Thank you for sharing please never remove it!
I was lucky enough to be there in the stands on the front and trust me, the atmosphere was like something else. Never in my life have I been screaming as loud as I can yet not be able to hear myself even slightly! When Wiggo and Cav went on the attack it was insane and just a wall of noise travelled round with them, something I'll never forget
Every single time I watch this, it's such a thrill. Truly captivating how masterfully Cav and Wiggo pulled this off. Unsurpassed tactics and athleticism. Just WOW.
The riders decide, I was in a Madison race in Pennsylvania and my partner who was national pursuits champion rode under me and said " WAIT FOR THE SPRINT " with 5 laps to go!! 🤣🤣🚴♂️🚴♂️🏁🍺

@@Penalist then you sound just go slow and wait for the main group to lap you. Just seems odd. What is there's no main group?? Who decides which is the main group??? What if they're equal sizes? What if the front group is smaller than the larger group? It's the front group then the main group or the other
great racing but the camera/edit (which is done live, of course) drove me nuts. WHoever was doing the editing (in the video control room, cutting from one camera to another) didn't understand this event - e.g. they kept cutting away just as a rider pair were about to exchange! SOme good exchanges were captured well, but this was the exception and just seemed like random good luck. THe exchanges are the most interesting part, but the camera/edit people didn't understand that part of this event. (It also doesn't help the audience understand the event, when you don't edit it properly).

I was there too!! Probably my most exciting sporting event too!! The video doesn't capture the how loud it was in there! Awesome
Watching this again for the umpteenth time. Spine tinglingly brilliant.
I'm on a Cav marathon right now. He's my all time favorite and I thought he was gone. Wonderful comeback!
Who is here after the amazing Madison in the Tokyo Olympics? Never watched one of these before, what an amazing event!
its without doubt amazing

Great race, one definitely for the books. Ending was so emotional indeed, love it!
Thanks for uploading =]
This seems like such an awesome sport. I have no idea why anyone is doing what they are, but it looks like good fun.

How do the commissaries keep track of what's going on?
The grin at 53:30 when they know they've got it!
The grin at 53:30 win they know they've got it!
shame we dont have great video of Eddie and Patrick ... this is just like them
Definitely seems like these old rules created more exciting and for that matter, harder races than the current +20 for a lap gained.
Its like nascar but on bikes, still fun to watch tho
Existed long before nascar
Pakai rasio gear berapa ya
que cicla utilizaron los colombianos?
marcs
this is like chocolate and peanut butter all over again
Wiggo's beard not very aero. LOL
aero is BS
what is the judge pointing at? at 23:05 for exemple
That's the front of the race, so you know who is in the lead
Very proud to be Madison Cup champion in 1985 !!😱😱😱 at the trexlertown velodrome 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🍺
Congrats mate! I got a 3rd place in a fairly serious masters category a while back so I know how we value those memories!
@@braydenjones603 hell yeah brother!! What age class? And what event?
This.was.EPIC! 😀
If only I could ride like Cav.
what a race
is it compulsory to change rider every 2 laps?
+frederick sta ana No - it is up to riders to decide. When Cav crashed here you will notice Wiggo was forced to ride for longer than planned.
tnx for the info..

It's about sharing the hard work like many team bike races.
What is the music at the end. When Cav and Wiggo celebrating the victory?
Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy
This would be better if half the riders had to go counter-clockwise
they using doltrap or torpedo?
doltrap
I just don't understand... if GB lapped the field doesn't it mean they'll be in the lead during the sprint laps?
when having lapped the field, you (again) become part of the peloton/largest group
@@Penalist seems silly to me
