  • Hi! This video is about my experience taking the GRE at home version and things that I believe are important to know for the test day. This is not a study tip video and also I DON'T guarantee that this video includes all you need to know for the GRE logistics. I DO hope it can provide some useful information.
    Feel free to reach out if you have further questions! GOOOOOD LUCK!!!!

    Hi thanks for the video, does the camera (which needs to be on during the entire exam) also need to be able to record the area where your whiteboard is so that the Proctor can see what you are writing? Or does the camera simply need to record your face and shoulders? Also what happens when you look down / away from the screen to write on your whiteboard? Does the proctor get suspicious?

    • @helennnwang
      @helennnwang  3 роки тому +1

      Hiii! So I just used my camera on my laptop and I'm pretty sure that only covers your face, shoulder, and your background. My proctor didn't say anything during my exam and I also got my score on time but I did hear other people say that if you look away or up (basically the directions that's not your whiteboard) too many times or for too long, they will take notes and write a report on that and you may not be able to get your score.

      Hiii! So for the at home exam, you are only allowed to have one whiteboard or transparent sheet with a piece of white paper sealed inside and one marker. You need to show the proctor your phone and then put it away and you can't access your phone for the entirety of the exam. There is a digital calculator provided by the exam on their page. I have never taken the exam in their test center so I can't provide you with the pros and cons but I had no problem taking it at home and I felt more comfortable taking it at home since I didn't have to wake up 2 hours earlier to travel to the center. But you do need to make sure that your internet speed is fast and you have access to a quiet room in your house to take the exam. Hope these help!

      @helennnwang  3 роки тому

      Hiiii! 我超级可以理解!我觉得还是在家里考比较舒服吧,不知道你离最近的考点有多远,但是至少还会在路上花费时间。家里的话还可以舒服的吃个早餐或者午饭,然后最后看看单词什么的。而且你可以给自己创造一个更不被影响的环境。我也没有去考点考过,不过肯定有其他人在。我其实没有好好准备lol最后三个星期突击了一下,所以没敢在视频里分享什么经验之类的,感觉自己还是幸运多一些吧。不过我觉得如果你是边上班边准备的话,确实要辛苦很多,那准备的时间我也建议要长一些。我后悔没有做的事情就是多做模考!我觉得其实真的挺重要的。然后多背单词!我那时候把不会的单词写在便利贴上贴满房间哈哈哈。数学如果你也比较自信的话也一定要多做做题,最好保证不扣分或者少扣分,这样整体成绩都不会差的。希望这些经验能够帮到你一下。加油加油!

      Hiii! Same here! English is also not my first language so my verbal and writing are pretty bad lol. I got 157 for verbal and 4 for writing. Things that I wish I did before my test: 1. Do more practice tests. I never practiced writing before my real GRE exam lol. Proved to not be a good idea. I think the writing prompts are very similar and can definitely be prepared. 2. Make schedule to memorize vocabs every day and review the old ones. 3. Try not to loose points on math. Higher math score would help you with the overall score if you are stronger in math. Best of luck!!! You got this!!
