This is really going to come together nicely. It is a long journey and hard to see the final vision at time but when you do it seem like this is going to turn out better than many people would expect
Two hours from now, it’s supposed to be up to 102 degrees here. Ugh. Good thing I’m stuck in the air conditioned house, recovering from pneumonia, watching UA-cam videos.
Dallas, Texas here and today's high was 98 f. The forecast is for 106 in the next few days. I hate the heat and plan to fly to cooler parts of the US this week. I love and respect the way you restore with reclaimed material and I will never give a suggestion for your building choices because you obviously know what you are doing.
I can nearly hear your brain ideas grinding, Hercules. Love it when you think aloud and solve your next building challenge with words to us. The cottage is coming along, nicely, and my daily sessions with you are so satisfying. I love your stone estate in my beloved France. Thanks.
Enjoy the beautiful copper Holly!! Sean you put so much thought into the renovation! I’m so happy you are keeping to the age and era of it. GOOD ON YOU MATE!!
96 right now in central California, expecting 106! I don’t take the heat as well as I did when I was younger! Be sure to stay hydrated!❤ I’m no builder but what you are doing, sounds right! ❤ Great work finding those tiles! ❤️
Sean, you are a very hard worker, you keep going on, that's a good worker. The weather has been very hot her too, the humid, I live in Windsor, Ontario Canada, I just can't stand it, ready for fall.
I think the wood beams going up to meet the joists are a great idea. You explain what you are doing and why so that I understand and that is great. Thank you and you have a great day
Southern California here. It's currently a tad past 3:00 p.m. and it's currently 112 degrees. I like your plans for the wall, Sean. It's going to look great when it's done
It's 28 C. here near Vancouver, B.C., and we haven't had rain to speak of for over 2 mos now! There are many scary forest fires burning up country away from the coast here, which is so scary for those poor people. I love the tiles you purchased, good deal!
We live in the river valley of Arkansas, USA. The heat and humidity settles in the valley and it feels like a sauna when you step outside. If you wear glasses, they will fog right up! Our heat index has been over 100°F this summer. Central air conditioning is a MUST around here!
Love the tiles, here about an hour south of Toronto we have been getting 90-105 degrees with very high humidity! Seems like we have been receiving heat wave after heat wave. The humidity kills me. Hope your work continues nice and easy in your heat.
I’m in Florida so we have heat all of the time. I took advantage of the hurricane weather. Luckily I am on that Atlantic side so it mainly cooled us off with wind and rain bands. I would go out and do my yardwork between rain bands and it was much cooler. Usually, our temperature is a feels like of 110°.
I am always jealous of people who can “eyeball” an area and know how long or wide it is.. I don’t have that skill but I don’t build things😂.. thanks for sharing
Since you asked, Encinitas, California, USA Aug 5, 2024 -- high today close to the Pacific Ocean coast is 79 degrees Fahrenheit....almost ideal temperature in our spot in Paradise.
@@Ruth-uj1dm If they are experienced in finish-carpentry. yard work, I am in the throes of completely remodeling a 50+ yo tract house here, I might welcome house guests. This area is a beautiful piece of the world.
I live in Oklahoma now and I'm like you Sean, I have a hard time in the heat. When I moved here 30 yrs ago everyone said, "you'll get use to it"....I NEVER HAVE!! It's preicted to reach 99 F today and I don't go outside unless I have to and eveen then I do what I need to do an get right back in the house with my air con.
It got up to 108 today. Tomorrow is supposed to be even higher. I would settle for Temps in the low to mid 90s. Love the channel and the restoration you are doing. Scratch the cats behind the ears for me. Lol...So. Cal. USA
Nice & cool down under as it is the middle of winter. Don’t forget to dehydrate Sean. Thanks for sharing your renovation commentary videos Sean really enjoy seeing them.😊
The room will look really nice if the posts are left exposed and just plastered in between them. It's a slow job to do it right but it will be so worth it.
You scored well with the roof tiles definitely in keeping with the old building. Love the plans for the support of the beam with those very solid timber posts. It’ll be one hell of a strong wall
When it is hot I find milk or water and salty snacks or cookies maybe granola bars work. Not water on its own. Also, in California we have a dry heat and not the humid heat you have. It really does make a big difference
I would do the same as you, backbreaking work for the authentic look. That's why I'm watching you after all. I've lived in North Carolina for 30 odd years nearly all my adult life and I still do not like the heat. Now that I am in my 50's and getting arthritic, hot weather doesn't suit me. It is the humidity that makes it hard. Summer is very tropical where I am, it rains almost every day and it feels like a steam bath outdoors. Saps your energy. enjoying the process of your videos Sean. love seeing the cottage come together one video at a time.
Love the roof tiles - well done Sam finding those online. Living in the desert Southwest, we’ve been having 45 degrees pretty regularly during the heat of the day in July. No end in sight yet. Hopefully by end of September we’re cooling off. Thank goodness for air conditioning.
Wish it was only 90* here in Southern California. Today it will easily top 110*F (43*C) and it has been that way for some time and will be for a while yet.
Thank goodness you know about old buildings and the how's and why's - many of us I'm sure wouldn't have actually thought about the force behind this wall. Well Done Sean, slow and steady - love your plan with the wooden posts keeping up beams etc. and I'm assuming this small stone wall will be exposed ❤
It reached i believe 92°F today, with the heat index it had a feels like of 100°F. Suppsed to be 72 to 78 for the rest of this week. Western Illinois, USA here.
Still the middle of winter down here in New Zealand. We have had a few frosts recently which means beautiful clear blue skies during the day. Over summer we get up to the low 30's. Being a temperate region we don't get the extreme temperatures during the winter, or the summer.
Here in Taylor Tx the weather tomorrow thru August 13 it is forecast to be 100* - 102*. Thank goodness for central AC. Keep yourself well hydrated and run a fan on yourself as you work. Everything is just falling into place just beautifully. Look forward to watching the progress!
The big difference in most of those saying our weather is normally that high. The US mostly has AC to go inside and cool off in. I lived in Germany for 6 yrs. You just learned to open up the house, pray for a breeze and close up the house in the heat of the day. I remember having my son in 2002 and my hospital room temp was 105. My hubby thought bringing in a thermometer was funny, he was wrong.
Todays is 94F tomorrow 101F the first 2 weeks in July 102 to 110 F . I am in East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area pretty close to the Central Valley , even for us July was very hot .
I like your ideas Sean. Go slow with the heat! Take many breaks. It was 107 degrees Fahrenheit in our back yard, Derby, Kansas, USA, today. It has been in the hundreds for several days. To make things worse, several towns are under water rationing. The lake where we get our drinking water from, Cheney Lake, is 61.15% full. Cheney Lake is man made filled only by rain water We need rain real bad. Some people who have private wells are seeing their wells run dry too. Cannot wait for the next vlog!
In Kansas Ks it's 102F i can't get used to it. BUT It's a dry heat they say. Nice job on that wall There are very few stone buildings here. It's interesting how you work on them
I'm on the west coast of US in Utah, not much humidity where I am at in the northern part of my state but we are a high desert mountain region and it's 105° F today here so i believe that is close to 40.5° C there in France. There are wildfires burning all the way around us, though in surrounding states. So we have bad air quality right now. This is the 25th day of over 100° F. I also don't do well in heat.
Hey Sean! California here. How about the same design you did on the fireplace beams to tie in the room? If you were going to leave those beams exposed by the wall anyway.😅
We struggle here with the heat in Florida USA. Take empty water bottles fill them with water and put them in the freezer. Then use them same as you would a hot water bottle. Cools the old body off.❤hugs
Sean, do you know who Mr. Rogers was (USA children's TV program host from 1960's to 2000)? You evoke a very similar feeling in me as he did. I really enjoy your style. Bright blessings!
4:44 Temps were around 85°F Ave raining on 8/5 during the hurricane. It was 97°F (feels like 102°F) and 87% humidity today 8/8. It's like walking into a sauna where I live.
I saw u looking at ur flowers the hydrangeas needs to go in the ground because they will get big and beautiful! Put them maybe at the very end of ur cottage where everyone can see it coming up ur driveway 😊
I don't envy your hot weather. I live in Perth Western Australia and we have long very hot summers and I much prefer winter which we have here atm. I am dreading summer coming.
I like the plan for the wood and beams. It also gives you a visual division between spaces. Great idea Sean.
Thanks 👍
So glad you were able to find the tiles for the roof.
Hand made tiles! Very authentic! Good score, Sean!
Sean, where is your water jug for keeping YOU hydrated,??? That's going to be a great wall!
This is really going to come together nicely. It is a long journey and hard to see the final vision at time but when you do it seem like this is going to turn out better than many people would expect
As of August the 5th we're having a hurricane beat that one😂 Hi from Florida 🤣
Love how you always have a plan in motion. Looking lovely!
Northwest Arkansas here, it’s 1430 and 95 degrees. Love watching you display your craftsmanship.
Sean, it's such a pleasure watching you figure this all out. I love how you explain it to us.
Thank you for another very interesting vlog.
Cheers

Wood and beams will look great.
Always pogress!
Hi Sean, I enjoy all of your videos. I appreciate all your work, really enjoy your live videos , thank you for sharing 👏🌟😊

Sounds like a perfect plan Sean 👍✅✅✅✅

Fine job Mr. Sean and clearly you have thought this through. Great job!!!
It's really taking shape now. A snuggery for years to come. 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
Yes, watching your restoration tells me most who are watching would search out tiles like you have done….

Yes, yes I would. I think you're right, most of US would do the same. 🙂 And what a great find the tiles are after all. Sam! 🎉❤
I am loving what your plan is.
95 here in St. Louis, MO, USA🇺🇲
Take it easy Sean...cold wet cloth around your neck works great in the heat.
Here in Idaho USA we have had up to 108 degrees in the last few weeks. Triple digits for quite a while. This week in the high 90's thank goodness!!!

Nice purchase Sean. They will look so good on the barn.😊
It’s a balmy 109 here….can’t wait for summer to be over 🥵

Hi Sean 👋 I like the timber and wood design you're considering. Love to you, your family, and your viewers ❤️
Cheers from Pennsylvania.
Congrats on the sale of the Jardin. Well done, Holly.
