      Hi @scrufacejeanofficial I think you should do a video that talks about the real roots of hip hop before it was commercial and what it was used for. From the artists to censorship with NWA and many more!! To battle rap and everything in between!!! I think it's important to distinguish between the current hip hop fans and the essence of hip hop!!! I think Kendrick wants us to have that important conversation!!!

      Football season doesn't mirror *Hip Hop* seasons Scru; you're right yet incorrect in the same sense. *Drake* is dropping the same week as this "gig" *Kendrick Lamar* performed at. Shiii they both had gigs the same day technically 👀 in that sense *Kendrick* won that game obviously. But there's another game this weekend, who'll win? Ik it'll be *SZA* but I want y'all answers

      Loved this and your reaction vid! And you’re so on point with the fact that K. Dots music requires us to practice active listening. The exact thing that Hip Hop enthusiasts naturally do…
      Then this entire process from the day the songs dropped last summer to his surprise album rollout until this past Sunday has been a full on victory lap.
      This battle was a moment that marks a major milestone on the timeline of Hip Hop.

    I'm a 50-year-old white person from New York (the NYC burbs) who grew up on 80s and 90s hip hop. I'll admit I strayed away from hip-hop in the 2010s, and while I knew about Kendrick Lamar, I didn't really listen to him (or anyone else, for that matter). I also thought Drake was a cheesy poseur and disliked most of his music. I especially never bought his tough guy act and thought it was all nonsense. Then, last spring happened, and I was as deep into the beef as everyone else was to the point where I watched as many deep dives and reactions as I could consume to be up on everything happening.
    Now? I love Kendrick Lamar. I've listened to his older stuff, I love GNX, and I LOVED the halftime show. I thought it was incredible, and it's fun to notice new things on every rewatch. I think he's brilliant.

      Bro, you guys are delusional completely ignoring the fact that the entire machine has been behind Kendrick. He is now and has always been the media darling because he pushes the mainstream media’s message. He is and has always been a favorite at every Grammys. Do you want more Grammys in one night for one song than Drake’s entire career. He has one awards created for authors never given to any musician. The label was behind him in the beef, the streaming platforms were behind him, the industry was behind him and all ganged up on Drake. Every source of media and news and influencer and influential people within the culture were behind Kendrick. He was given the SuperBowl halftime show and the machine was behind him the entire time but we’re going to sit here and act like he is the disruptor? He is the anti-establishment? That he is against the system and the machine? No one has been pushed harder than Kendrick especially in the past year but he somehow the outsider? I swear Kendrick fans are absolutely delusional when the reality is that their guy is not even a conscious rapper, he sounds like every other talking head on the mainstream media. The best thing about art is its subjectivity. We can all watch the same thing and see something different and that’s ok. You won’t always understand what you’re looking at when viewing a true masterpiece. Even those that “get it” won’t know unless the artist explicitly states what they wanted to express.
    This was a long winded way to say we just witnessed a masterpiece. Like it or not you saw it and felt a way. The Artist won.

      I’ve been saying this ever since people been bringing up the argument, I don’t think Uncle Sam is a jab at MAGA. What I think it’s a jab at is the whole system in general, how America exploits black artists and the lengths they go to the make themselves the “heroes of the black community” this not only applies to republican team but Democrats. I’m always reminded of the song “Hood politics” from Kenny where he equated democrats and republicans to gang colors and how they ain’t different at all, just the damn color, they will still oppress you wether the team is blue or red. The oppression won’t change overnight if red guy gets in, neither blue guy, it’s the system of Uncle Sam that’s a problem for the Black community. I think those within the MAGA movement that are having problems with this halftime show are fundamentally misunderstanding the point of the halftime show, making them look stupid. I voted for the Don for this exact reason, because I believe with certainty that he’s a disrupter, that he will put the government back where it oughta be so it stops encroaching within all spaces of artistry, the systematic abuse of the black man has to be stopped, the only way you can do that is by cutting the weeds.

    I can’t believe with all the research my man was doing for the video he left out the sub context for Serena CWalkin. She was publicly shamed and criticized for Walkin during a match. So given the theme of Kendrick’s performance, this makes tons of sense. One nail, two coffins.

    Kendrick Lamar's halftime show is now the highest viewed halftime show in history according to the numbers. It beat out last year's performance by Usher and also his streaming numbers are way up. If you go to the NFL page his UA-cam video for his performance beat out Usher's viewership from last year already. Usher took 11 months to get to 33 million and Kendrick only took one day. The CULTURE is feeling him.

    Wesley’s Theory has to be my favorite Kendrick Lamar song, it’s maybe my favorite hip hop song of all time. The Thundercat bass and vocals are KILLER, it sets up the whole album phenomenally, the song is so funky and energetic but it says so much about the exploitation of black Americans via consumerism and he ties it to his own rise to fame. Brilliant, peak music

    Don’t let the hate divide the majority! They not like us, these small groups of hateful people on each side divide the country, hell the world, while they profit off our suffering. It’s not about race, sexuality, culture. No it’s about us vs them. Do not tolerate disrespect, but hate only makes them stronger so spread love and respect. 💛

    Kendrick came to deliver a message. Some got the message, and some didn't. Some chose to get the message, some chose not to, others didn't care.

  • @nickdp_32
    @nickdp_32 6 годин тому +48

    People saying the half time show was bad CLEARLY do not get it. It was not about getting the biggest ooo's and ahhh's. I understand that you don't have to like it for what it was and that's 100% acceptable but you can't and shouldn't call it trash just because it didn't speak to you. It was about the message behind it not about playing the greatest hits, if that's the reason you didn't like it than you just don't understand kendrick or hip hop.

    • @Akatsuki250
      @Akatsuki250 6 годин тому +1

      The messaging wasn’t deep dog. It’s nothing that we haven’t been told and seen for decades.
      The problem is that the Set List was mid. Humble, DNA and NLU were the only certified hits that he played. The audience didn’t even know the other songs because GNX is only 2 months old. It was a mistake on PgLane’s behalf.

      @@tracyallen1996 Relax. I didn’t hate the show in particular, nor do i think it was “the worst show ever” like some.
      I just simply said that he missed a major opportunity to get more people into rap by actually playing his smash hits. You can quote all the Kendrick bars you want at me, but as a 30 year old black man that watch a show for entertainment, i don’t want puzzles and think pieces. Time and place matters.
