What fun to find my Dad singing on these old albums. John Montgomery sang with John Stewart and Gil Robbins for a few years and traveled all over the U.S. I wish I could find video of them performing on Celebrity Talent Scout in 1960 or the Liberace Show. Thanks for keeping this music alive.
You're welcome, I had the whole aIbum but decided to upload this song only because this one is my favorite and I am glad i've brought back the memories of your dad and his music career. I was also a singer and travelled around my country, it was a real small adventure and I miss those days, if I could I'd love to repeat them
This song was sung by the defeated Confederate Army of Tennessee on their retreat from the Battle of Nashville in December 1864 They added a verse You may talk about your Beauregard and sing of General Lee but the Gallant Hood of Texas he played Hell in Tennessee
@Donathon-qx8kq By all rights you should be proud of your grandfather Those who fought for the Confederacy were not traitors or criminals they were heroes and patriots fighting for their Constitutional rights and their independence
This version amazes me I'm proud to be a 6th generation native Texan and I had 9 out of 34 ancestors fight in the Texas regiment for the south 2 grandfathers 4 uncles and 3 cousins but 2 of my uncles in the Texas regiment died in the war
Thanks a lot :) wow that's nice to hear, what a legendary unit, if i remember correctly Texas Regiment even had many volunteers from California, it was quite a journey for these boys, they had to dodge Union patrols and travel through the desert to reach Texas and join the Confederacy
