From the album One Big Atom (Continuity, 2011) If you like the track, please consider buying a copy of this wonderful record, Charles is one of our national treasures.
I suspect the best place for you to look might be Camberwell Now who are just on the cusp of being rediscovered. Their album, The Ghost Trade ("Working nights", "Sitcom" and "Daddy Needs a Throne" all from that era are on YT) is absolutely brilliant and continues the rhythmic bombast and technical manipulation of This Heat (albeit in a slightly different context/configuration) with intelligent, scathing song writing. I think their whole output should still be available on one CD, "All's Well"
I absolutely like Charles' endings, when the music comes to an ending ... there's just a few steps to go. It's an allegory of life: It's not over until it's already over. I love this. It's like a final wave which carries you back to the ocean. TY
(replying to myself to keep these in the right order!) ...His first solo album after Camberwell Now (a monster of a band, do try and check them out), "Survive the Gesture" might be a good one too as, again, it's more song-based and consistent, it's very strong. Good luck!
Right. Thanks for responding, and posting; although i have bought the album. Yes, i should and will get around to listening to more Charles H.
pretty raw drum sounds. like it
And believe me, i think this guy has done great things. So i MUST look further afield to some of his music in between now and This Heat. Ah well...
Agreed, and then some! Thanks, Chris.
