  • In today's video, I show you the simple way that I'm stopping weed grass from taking over my lawn!
    Poa annua is an opportunistic grass that will take any opportunity to grow, but it's easy to control if you catch it early!

    Absolutely loving your channel. I rarely comment on videos but I’m a fairly new subscriber and I’ve binged pretty much all of your content. Your tone, enthusiasm and style of video is brilliant. I’m a fairly keen/novice gardener and your channel is great entertainment 👌

    Loving your content mate. Unfortunately POA is a losing battle, all you can do is keep them down to a minimum but they somehow just always seem to get in. Your lawn is looking very good. Keep up the great work.

    Good old kitchen fork, to pull out your weed grass. I find it much easier than using my fingers

      It is usually. But with this lawn being quite new, the weed grasses are only small still

    Paint the high fence black and then grow some colourful/flowering creeping plants. Will look good when it all flowers.

    You’ve definitely taken things up a level this year mate with this lawn. It’s looking great. The only thing I would suggest is would it not be easier to spot the weed grasses before you mow the grass?

      It is, but because there's no suction with the reel mower that you'd get with a rotary, I didn't want to flatten the grass before mowing.

    I have an RSR rye lawn and use ETHO and MESO as weed control...Etho for stuff like Poa and Meso for the broadleaf stuff. I think its safe for your lawn, but double check

    Better get rid of the pulled out poa all together, the seeds may blow in right back into the lawn

    how do you know if its a seed head from a weed or from the fescue?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  Місяць тому

      You can usually tell by the shape of the seed heads

    You call that a messy garage? Ha! You can still see the majority of the floor!

    What made you use a liquid feed rather than using truegrass?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  Місяць тому

      True Grass improves the density of the sward, but the liquid feed I put down was more about putting colour into the lawn. It didn't promote much growth.

      It can be a losing battle, but with it being a small space, just trying to catch it early.

    It must be bad as you didn’t say “no one’s gonna die” if you don’t pull them out 😂
