Consider areas between the Frenchtown and Rieglesville as well, the country is beautiful and the price point is not absurd as it is just south. I believe the main hold up there is the infrastructure, narutal gas in particular, many use LP. Best of luck with the hunt
Im having good success with a hive using essential oil of red thyme. 1-2 drops mixed with coconut oil. Application is by 3x3” cloth (1-2) / box on top of frames. Frequency about 1-2 times a month. Saw on UA-cam video as an “experiment”. The hive are much healthier by observing the bees. Before, quite a bit of deformities, larvae/ pupa being dragged out. After, essentially none.
Always enjoy your observations, sick or not, your doing a great job encouraging new folks. Here in central Florida we are about to start our Brazilian pepper flow and it’s definitely not chilly here, yet 😊
Got 3 nucs of bees in July.. Waco Texas... It was hot and rainy - they are in 10 frame boxes with an internal feeder...been feeding 1:1syrup since I got them. Not taking honey this year as super is not full. Should I continue feeding thru fall? Will honey in spring be ruined because of feeding?
If your hive Stan has legs you could put a bowl of water around each leg and the ants won’t cross it once summer I had a problem with that and I put a pan of water on the edge each leg then it stopped the ants from coming across The water might help
I am in Lake Ariel Pennsylvania I ended up with no honey this season at all even though we have golden rod growing like crazy I got robbed out of two hives one of my hives the queen left and the other seven hives never kept the honey what is going on with that any way of collecting That thank you great to see you back in PA this is Charlie PA
Sorry to hear that! Did you reduce the entrances? You might want to move the hives if they didn't bring in much honey in the summer. Finding a good spot for bees has always been the hardest part about beekeeping for me in Hawaii. You can also try a wet white sheet over the hives when they're being robbed and don't feed in the hive. That can encourage even more robbing. Do you treat for mites? If the bees have viruses from mites, that can also slow them down quite a bit.
I watch the video where they get the dry table sugar and add like 3 ounces of water to it and make like a patty out of it do you recommend anything like that Charlie PA
I prefer to add dry white sugar and let the condensation from the lid drip down onto the sugar. But you can definitely make a candy with the sugar. Check out this video and skip to minute 32 - ua-cam.com/video/k57W7_rzitw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Good question! I made a video all about feeding, when to feed, and the different ways to feed and why. In short, liquid feed is water and sugar mixed together. It's liquid and given to bees when it's over 65F out and warm enough out that the bees can leave the hive. Once its colder out, you take out the liquid and give candy or fondant. Honestly, I don't know if there is a difference between fondant and candy. They're pretty much the same thing. You take water and sugar and make a hard candy to put in the hive when it's colder out. It helps to absorb condensation that might drip off the lid. They say it's not good to feed bees liquid in the winter for a few reasons.
We are in southern ontario. This is season 4 for us. We usually have single broods after harvest and end up feeding sugar water back until it gets too cold to feed a liquid. This year we will go through winter with a super and a medium on top. Havent done this before. Our fall season is mild and sometimes stays longer so i may need to feed them. Around December i usually add a protein patty. I bought fondant to give instead and protein maybe in February, not sure what I'm doing yet or when cause winter hasnt showed itself yet. How/ where in the hives do i place the fondant . do i place it across the super on top or across the medium on top? What do you suggest please and thank you. Also in spring will the hive / queens automatically move down to use the empty space or will i have to switch the boxes?
My husband says your blood thins when you live too long in a warm climate. I still haven't looked into whether that is true, but I've been wearing a sweatshirt almost every day since I got here 4 weeks ago :)

Thank you for sharing and the instructions on how to do it. I am going to try it out!
Glad to see you continue to do videos for all of us. Thank you
More to come!
Welcome back to the mainland. We have watched your videos which have helped us so much this first season. Here's to feeding for winter bees. 🐝
Blessings from Ohio!! So glad to see you.

Thank you! The Brazilian Pepper honey is the best for comb honey. Takes so long to crystallize :)
Da li se košnice mogu uneti u plastenike i koje medonosne biljke bi se mogle gajiti?

I really appreciate your insight. Thank you, ma’am.
You are so welcome

Yes, I would continue to feel them through the fall. the honey in spring won't be affected. This syrup will probably be long gone.
New keeper here. I do what you said about letting the two brood boxes alone. My Italians seem to be going through it faster than my buckfast.
Interesting.
Good luck with your search for a home! Looking forward to your next pod cast.
I watch you all the time glad to see you in the states
Da li neki pčelari i pčelarke prave sami košnice, naravno po univerzalnim merama.

What is the difference between liquid/candy/fondant? Everyone throws those terms around like I should know. ;-)

Postoje slabe i jake košnice, kako održati pravilan balans?
we are in canada we take most honey and feed 5- tp 60 pounds of 2 to 1 sugar syrup
Interesting. So you feed 2-1 syrup all winter or just in the summer and fall?
I am also in Canada. Northern Sk. How long do you feed 2:1 in fall?

You want to put the fondant/candy at the very top, under the lid and insulation. The queen usually moves down to where there is space some spring.
Zašto je heljdin med cenjen u nekim zemljama?
You say it's chilly
Remember, she just moved from Hawaii
@@ravingdog24 oh, thank you, I wasn't aware of that I've not seen none of videos in a while
@@mikelwalters6505 I guess after living in Hawaii any temp below 65 degrees is chilly
