This place is exactly 9 miles as the crow flies from where I live. I've driven down that road more times than I care to remember. How did I not know the railway was there? LOL
I enjoyed that Jennifer..Thank you for taking the time and effort to do the film..and thank you to staff and volunteers on the garden railway.. Allan..
Jenny thank you, thank you, thank you and did I mention thank you Jenny and of course Dale. What a wonderful trip you took us on. If I were to go back across the pond I would be in trouble because I would never leave that little country of its self you took me to. Beautiful. Thank you again, Chris
Great video. I found it kind of soothing to watch. It always amazes me how few people bother to click on the thumbs up, it's not like it costs anything ! Keep up the wonderful work :-)
Wow! What an amazing place and I must confess that I have never heard of the railway having visited quite a few in the past. This is certainly on my list for a future visit and you certainly had a good day out with plenty going on. How lucky you were to pick a lovely day and spend it in such stunning scenery and everything in pristine condition.
I meant to say that the boiler ticket for a new build Quarry Hunslet is 10 years, as per all boilers, though extensions can sometimes be granted. The Tram is unique in that it is the last survivor of the erstwhile Burton and Ashby Light Railway which was operated by the Midland railway, this tram spent a few decades in Detroit after a collector bought it before it returned, was regained from 3ft 6inch down to 3ft exactly and converted to v=battery power and is used during all open days. There were 12 steam locomotives in action over the weekend, K1 and Isibutu (on it;s last weekend in service before overhaul) on the heavy set of carriages, Alpha, Howard, CSR 19, Roger (the Wren in the Garden), Jack Lane and Statfold (the two new build Quarry tanks) Cloister and Sybil Mary (original Quarry tanks from both Dinorwic and Penrith quarries in N.Wales) and Harrogate and Trangkil No4 on the High Level passenger set.
A great place, what sets it apart from heritage lines for me is that whilst you may wish the line could be longer, it’s perfect for families and the Great Miniature Weekend events are also superb for taking your miniature humans with you, the facilities are top notch and it’s easy to make a day of it for all your friends and families. The driver fit a fiver runs on Fiji are also amazing (though suspect thanks to an unwanted virus that’ll be off the cards for a while...)
Lovely garden railway, and one i've not heard of before. I especially liked the bit near the end where you went through a more landscaped section. You'd probably like Exbury Garden railway, but its right down in Hampshire. I recently visited and made a vid.
Wow, what a charming video. That was a delight. (Have you seen what Hornby just announced? Peckett 614 Centenary Year Limited Edition - 2016, very nice)
That is a really cool place, thanks for bringing us along, so to speak, Jenny.
Was great getting to finally meet both of you, I ended up getting sun burned by the end of the day.
It was great to meet you too!

Another bit of pub quiz ammo for you. Trangkil No.4 was the last steam locomotive built for industrial service in 1971.

Those engines are the biggest I've seen on a garden railway, looks like just a normal narrow gauge railway.
So what gauge was it? It doesn’t look 2’ which is the Welsh highland gauge,
1ft 11 1/2 inches base but some 4rt 8 1/2 inches some 3ft and other gauges have existed in the past
You have a typo in the title of Statfold
Ack! You're driving on the wrong side of the road!!
6:05 You will steam up. You need to take that silly face nappy off. It does NOTHING.
