VQ/VR will NEVER sound good. I don't care what anyone says. Those are NOT good sounding engines. All v6's sound the same, boring and like a dying donkey trying to play the trumpet. Nissan fucked up switching to a V6. I get why they did it because it's a smaller package, and they want to reuse an engine that's already in their line up of other models, but for your flagship car.... You really should stick to it's heritage and kept it a turbo charged inline 6. People give Toyota so much shit for using BMW's B58, but at least they stuck true to the Supra's roots/heritage and kept it a Turbo charged Inline 6. Technically the B58 is a 3JZ. Why would Toyota waste R&D time and money, trying to develop a successor to the 2JZ when BMW has been doing that for them since the N54? The B58 is the perfected version of the N54. Toyota isn't going to risk their brand and what their brand stands for if they didn't think the B58 was upto Toyota's standards. The B58 is a TANK of a motor, and responds very well to mods. I had a BMW 540i MSport, with just a downpipe, intake, and Stage 2 E30 OTS Tune, it was pushing near 450whp. Yes... You read that right. The B58, with just a catless downpipe, intake, and Stage 2 e30 mix OTS tune using Bootmod3, can hit 450whp easy. Tell me how the B58 isn't the current gen 2JZ. Exactly. I'm sure if Toyota could have their way with the motor, they'd simplify it some more. But all the Mark 5 supra is missing is an option for a 6 speed manual, but at least that BMW 8 speed trans is a killer Automatic transmission. Probably one of my favorite automatic transmissions. Thing shifts super smooth, and actually is decently fast at shifting for not being a dual clutch, and just a regular ole slushbox
@@peeposadboy Despite making unreliable cars, BMWs Inline 6s are incredible. A freaking E36 makes over 300hp NATURALLY ASPIRATED.

Nissan already has the VQs for the Zs and G Skylines. Why'd they have to make another V6? I understand Nissan have always wanted to make a V6 for there previous GT-Rs, but literally everyone loves the RB Skylines. At least the Supra uses a well made Inline 6.

The RB sounds waaaaayyyyyy better then the VR38. I understand the VR38 is a better engine but why couldn’t Nissan make the VR & VQ’s sound better I mean jeez the sound is just as important as the performance to a sports car enthusiast just saying....
