Why cant i catch anything decent ? Lure fishing Stockton and Lake Macquarie

- My weekend fishing both Stockton an Newcastle harbour on Saturday an Lake Macquarie on sunday was far from amazing.I think im now allergic to catching good fish. Come along and enjoy the struggles as i put in alot of effort for little rewards.
I was out last Sunday, same thing .. got 1 legal bream , very quiet ... the water was so clear , clearest I've seen in years .. everything was shut down
I agree crebo was so clear in some places and they just didnt want to bite at all. Hardest day iv had on the lake thus far.
A fish is a fish no matter the size.
Never the less you never disappointt Andrew well done mate
Thanks Reg last few trips been pretty disappointing, an this weekend weather looks a bit sus aswell. Fingers crossed i can get out there an catch something decent 👍

Hey lowey, fished the lake for a few years and the last 12m have found it very hit and miss, love my plastics and hard bodies, even been to the dark side with bait, still hard going, would like to have a chat if your interested about doing things different, 🍺🍺
@@sambo772007 this past year to me anyway the jewy fishing has dropped off an the regular bycatch iv bn getting for the last 10 years has changed. No where near as many big flattys on the vibes even bream numbers have dropped off. Most of the old cockle beds that used to hold alot of bait now dont, an the water this year is upto 30 degrees in some parts. The early mornings been the most productive for me when its cooler mate. That first light period is usually reliable to get some nice fish and usually less windy too.

Iv had the same problem, I used to catch 60 flatty every session almost and now I'm lucky to get a 50. I think the fishing slows down at this time of the year... It's meant to pick up in April so fingers crossed 🤞

Hey Andrew, only big fish next time for sure. I've just noticed that shroud around your sounder. Did that come with it, or did you make it. It must help in some way with seeing the screen in the sun and also keeping temperature down I would think?? Mine didn't come with one.
Hey pete, i bought it from hunter water sports in belmont. Keeps the sun off it so i can see it better in bright light. Didnt help much on the weekend nothing to see 🤣they make them for a heap of different models.
Mate, I also went out last weekend and did not do well at all! Hit up Catho couldn't crack anything good on the jigs!

A few ppl have had the same problems at least. Does make me feel less of a failure 🤣 i still need a good session but soon.
I fished all my productive spots yesterday on lake Mac and no hits at all on the plastics… very unusual.
The moon phase atm doesnt help mate. In general but the lake itself isnt as good as last year. Last trip i did notice alot of bait i think whitebait coming in on the run up tide. The amount was crazy they were everywhere. Unfortunately no predators under or around them at all. I think in the next few weeks it will completely change. A few degree drop in the water temp an all that baitfish entering the system has to be good. Fingers crossed but i expect it to fire very soon 🤞

Shocking matty. Cant get a decent fish to save myself. Maybe in the morning but the weathers sketchy here 🤷♂️ thanks for watching mate 🙌

Yep, that's how it was for me last Saturday & yesterday not much & everything that was caught was smallish

Yer it happens mate sometimes the big fish dont bite an sometimes nothing bites. Always this weekend although looks sketchy with the weather.

Hey Andrew getting very close for me to head away but not sure weather to head your way or head south.
Like you have stated its seems to be fishing a bit quiet your way and would like your thoughts on weather it's worth me travelling 6.5 hrs your way or best to leave it for another time.
Your input would be highly appreciated.
Its bn slow as on the lures mate for me an alot of other ppl. Baitfishing might be better option at this point. Im getting fish but all small. Stacks of jew in the river being caught on livies however if u like live baiting.

i was out the lake two weeks ago got one legal flounder
1 legal flounder more than me paul 🤣 its bn so hit an miss this year. Small bite windows and then nothing at all.
