This was a beautiful wedding. Like most weddings they are planned in the manner that the Bride & Groom desires, and that's the beauty of it. It allows for creativity. I am a African American that married in Ghana, West Africa. I had a traditional wedding for that area. I also included a "few" American traditions, as that is where I was born and raised. You do what you want for your special day. I didn't see many other weddings criticized on youtube, why this one? May God Bless this couple.
I'm Nigerian and I'm very disappointed that the Africans on this video are getting so upset. We were lucky enough to be raised with our culture African Americans did not have a choice. They didn't ask to be taken from Africa let them share our culture
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You soooo very much. I just finished watching all three parts. Thank you for sharing. I am an African American married for 8 years to a West African. We will renew our vows in two years. Thanks for giving me more ideas to pull from. This wedding was FABULOUS!!
This is so beautiful. This has to be in Africa..... I am so happy to be African heritage! I love all of my AFrican ppl! I need someone to do my wedding in the US
nubidpoet here IAM commenting from another UA-cam as the same person and I'm still watching this video for inspiration, because I am now planning my wedding. Wow, life is awesome
Awwww this is so cute, am Nigerian and we don't even have the masquerades in our traditional wedding these days......... May God bless your union...... Great Job!!!!
Your criticism is very very unnecessary and cruel. There's no written rule about how to conduct an African wedding or any other wedding for that matter. Weddings are about celebrating the joining of two people in matrimony. This couple just had an African-themed wedding, not a particular African cultural wedding. I for one loved everything about this wedding and the couple. I am from Nigeria for that matter. Be kind and positive. I wish you a long joyful life.
Still today, I enjoy watching this wedding. So very beautifully done with respect to our African culture. The groom was well to have received blessings and favor from the Gods as it is so embedded in our culture. I loved that aspect of the ceremony. The bride was gorgeous! Very well done, I tip my hat
@Princess70313 you are right we have many things do in wedding in my contry and we have the music it's similair to your guys music , i love itand i love anything african....by the way i am from north africa...viva africa..
beautiful wedding and it shows they are embrasing their Africanism, people who are here to comment negativity are just simply jealous. I love the way the bride cant hide her joy, GOD bless you!!!
On to those negative anti-African point of views? Those views don't serve any purpose but to keep us locked up mentally! Wake up ppl! Anyway, their wedding was BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you I don't know why we can't just love each other. Instead of criticizing, teach us. Geesh we're just trying to get back what was stolen from us. I guess ppl just don't understand that
Real Nice Wedding!.. (they needed a Moko Jumbie (stilt walker) from Trinidad & Tobago though :) Long Life, Love, Peace & Happiness to Michael and Sharon.
African wedding can whatever traditions it wants. Since we are amalgamated Africans we can choose what we want from any group. We are not tied to any group.
The title is "AFRICAN WEDDING"! Nothing is wrong with the hole mariage. They have the atttires of nigeria, they are all dressed up in bubus but with different origines (east and west africa), some are looking like from south africa, and the special note was the MASQUARADE! For people who knows the african culture, this is a great moment in a traditional celebration when a masquarade is coming out!!!! Really great!! This is really an AFRICAN Wedding (where ever it has been celebrated). Be blessed
yeah. I'm half Ghanaian (Asante) and was perplexed to see the guy on stilts walking down the aisle at a wedding. we have them all the time at festivals and parades, but NOT at a traditional wedding ceremony(maybe the reception would be more appropriate?). It's a cute idea for Black/ African Americans though (I'm half) who want to connect to their pan West- African heritage. in Chicago there's a GREAT annual Ghana festival in Washington park the last weekend of july. join us if you can!!!
There is a different between idol worship and way of life(culture). I think these couple nailed it- true african wedding. masqurade is used for celebration in africa. I think along the way, we threw away most of our heritage as we embrace christianity and civilization. By the way, if i say european wedding, will i be santioned?
Painful for you, but for the rest of the true Africans at heart, they are a fresh breeze. Africans are truly free spirited people, but we have discarded our true beings to adapt to European ways. I love this couple and their African wedding. Yes may the true God bless their marriage. I am a Nigerian. Bless you sis.
I'm African American, I agree! Many black Americans see things and try to incorporate what they see, not even understanding what the purpose is, so to Africans we appear and are ignorant. the research was not done and they did not know. but in defense of the bride and groom, i do understand them wanting to use as many African things that they may have seen and piece milled their wedding together. they of course meant no disrespect to Africans, they clearly love Africa, they just didn't research.
What's it to you? Did you give them any money for their wedding? They can do what they want. They amalgamated Africans and not tied to any specific African traditions.
thats the good thing about it being THEIR wedding they can have anything or do anything they want ! if they want to dress up a poodle and send it down the aisle its up to them theyre paying for it! think outside the BOX!
All African like dancing wherever they from in Africa west, east, north and south There are singular definitions of African dance. Africa, a continent three times the culturally the most diverse on the planet. Though similar themes may be found throughout dances across the many countries and landscapes, each has its own history, language, song, background, and purpose and cannot be translated to another dance of the same culture much less another dance from somewhere else on the continent.
They are not African, but I think copying is the highest form of flattery. Yes they are African American, but it is very commendable that they went out of their way to try and connect with their African roots. Regardless if it is right or not. Sometimes we complain that black Americans don't understand Africa, but when they try, we bash and nit pick them. Leave these people alone. I commend them even more for having creativity.
Wow you guys are tough on African Americans! You do realize they were completely cut of from their heritage for 300 years? And only recently are getting their dignity and history back.
talking about idol worshiping: when you "bow down" to your job or any material thing. That is idol worship. a person on stilts is NOT...all you "holier than thou".
Of course we should be reaching to our culture to celebrate our life goals. I totally agree! My comment was just that they did not understand the use of the stilt walker, which is about evil, and you don't want that at your wedding. that is all.
@gold9ja Sweet Heart In Nigeria We have a Unique Wedding Tradition and Attire,The same Beautiful and Classy Weddings you see in Most Nigerian Movies That's how it is in Real Life regardless if they are in Nigeria or Abroad.
If we African in America could understand the richness that God has made us to have we will go back and contribute to the education of all the ignorants African in America among us. we should be proud of our heritage

You are right. There are thousands of native Africa groups with varied traditions.
On to those negative anti-African point of views? Those views don't serve any purpose but to keep us locked up mentally! Wake up ppl! Anyway, their wedding was BEAUTIFUL!

It is sad isn't it? There's a lot of self hate in our community. :/
Very nice wedding. God bless this couple. :)

This right here
This is great.
Beautiful Gele on the bride!
Although I would have to agree I'm not sure how African the actual ceremony was.
Are you knowledgeable of all African tradition and customs or just your own?
AFRICA IS NOT A FRICKING COUNTRY! CAN YOU SPECIFY WHICH COUNTRY INSIDE THE ENTIRE DIVERSE CONTINENT OF AFRICA YOU ARE REFERRING TO. JEEZ.
Just curious what country the bride and groom are from?
As I read these comments, a question has been on my mind. What is exactly meant by "idol worship?"
talking about idol worshiping: when you "bow down" to your job or any material thing. That is idol worship. a person on stilts is NOT...all you "holier than thou".
Well I'm happy to hear that, thanks for replying :)
what part of africa is this?
Where's the percussion crew?
Beautiful African wedding.
Of course we should be reaching to our culture to celebrate our life goals. I totally agree! My comment was just that they did not understand the use of the stilt walker, which is about evil, and you don't want that at your wedding. that is all.
Awesome Nigerian Wedding!
is kissing is compulsury in this ceromony??
