Perhaps once Five Ancestor system is fully documented, then I'll teach a course on Hakka Boxing (combined curriculum of Dragon, Mantis, and White Eyebrow).
Excellent overview Russ Sifu. I learned a lot about the Chinese side of things. On who taught people like Higaonna Kanryo and Uechi Kanbun, etc, when they were in China… My current thinking is that, logistically speaking, any Okinawan who went to China would not have had the opportunity to learn under a “master” of anything. It seems more likely picked up rudimentary hand to hand forms/skills from the Green Standard Army guys who were stationed in the Ryukyukan as security guards (and also probably to make sure no one “snuck off campus” as it were). By the time Higaonna and later Uechi even got to the Ryukyukan, what was probably left was a kind of civilianized version of a few of these basic military forms as retained and reinterpreted by the Kojo family. I may change my tune depending on what else pops up but that is where I am today.
Enjoyed it thoroughly 👍 would love to see and hear more about your Pak Mei, one of my fave styles ! :)
I was going to mention that too. I hope he does some lesson videos. I do Tai Chi, and Pak Mei would be a good complement for that.

Just popped by from Monkey Steals Peach as he’s on a tour of Hong Kong. Some great points here as well. Kia ora from NZ.
Southern hakka kungfu too
Didn't Chōjun Miyagi go to China for a year or two, in particular Fujian?
So in the last couple of years the formerly obscure MA of Okinawan White Crane Kempo has been gaining popularity
I feel like MhuuThai Boran doesn't get enough comparison to Okinawan Karate.
I'm not aware of any evidence on actual connections, although I do see people posting similarities in execution and application.
