Maybe. I doubt that. Activist investors are basically corporate raiders, so Lucas wouldn’t have needed an ulterior motive to back Iger in the proxy war
I still believe he planned this all along. xD Think about it. He knew the prequels had some backlash and he knew Disney would mess up star wars even more so, and he decided to become even richer, while watching his prequels become more appreciated due to disney's bad writing and marketing. His stuff would look better in comparison, he'd be richer and then later on, people would call on him to be a consultant or creative supervisor, so it'd be like he'd be in control again, even if he technically doesn't own the property anymore.
Star Wars Theroy, I want to thank you as a fan. Not only for your continued support of Star Wars, and knowledge of Star Wars lore, plus your fan fictions. But i also really want to thank you for your criticism, and how you stuck your ground through the entire downfall of Star Wars. The absolute BEST thing that can happen right now is George gets full creative rights like he did in 1976, teams up with one of the only people who had confidence in him(Steven Spielberg), and makes HIS Sequels in this series AND THEN Dave Filoni continues the unbiased Star Wars we had in 2011. A New Hope.
*Imagine if Disney put George Lucas as the main director for a live action KOTOR series with Keanu Reeves as Darth Revan and Emily Blunt as Bastila Shan.*
Especially with the "or I walk" attitude. One of the reason the Prequels were flawed was because no one seemed to challenge George at all. He is a great creative mind, but as a director, a part from a few key scenes, he's not that great "do it better" "make it more" isn't clear on what he wants. He has had great actors Portman, Neeson, Lee all be wooden and dull in most of their scenes. There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'
I'm much more concerned about George Lucas' health & his old age now. It will be extremely depressing once he passes away & I really hope it's not for a long time!

@@abeaconintheoffice That latter my friend 💀 I literally don’t know how Theory got ‘George Lucas is returning to Star Wars’ from an old friend of George assuming he could be returning because he’s been showing up on set lately 🤕🤕🤕
He’s retired, he turns 80 this year. Not a chance he’s coming back. It would be unworthy for someone of George’s caliber to come back when they’ve treated the franchise the way Disney’s treated it.
Disney knows that announcing his return would get whatever next project he's involved with PRINTING money. Bringing him back makes sense in every possible way. Reset the overall direction. Create new stuff to sell. Hype release..
George, please restore my faith in star wars and do Darth Bane. Keep playwrights and Disney Executives away from the project. The books are so amazing.
I'm worried it would end up being the same situation that is currently happening with Akira Toriyama's legacy. That George may pass on during production, and who will end up finishing the rest of his work. With what we know about Disney, I have my doubt that they will respect his unfinished work that he left behind if it were to happen.
I just learned that the original EU technically came to an end 10 years ago on Wednesday past. I think this is a good time for me to get back into the Expanded Universe I used to love so much! Going to use the Wookipedia 'Timeline of Legends Media' page and Matt Wilkins' Reread lists to get through it all again. "Here goes nothing!"
Honestly I can't really see George coming back in any capacity where he's going to be creating a whole film or series. He's almost 80 years old, just on that alone towards the end of his life I don't see him getting years deep into a Star Wars project after he's left it for so many years already.
You're right to say nobody can tell George what to do, but I'm still ultimately disappointed that he didn't hang on to his original idea to make jar jar the big bad behind palpatine. He's a genius that the world doesn't deserve
I reckon because its such an untouched part in live action, they're bringing George on as like a creative supervisor, but then again even that sounds far fetched, and I'm assuming James Mangold just wants to do his own thing.
@@leninswalrus The prequels are all about doom and gloom. Anakin in 2 and 3 does nothing but moan bitch and cry. Not only is Anakin a complete narcissist, he's also easily manipulated.
@@StoolGoodman who cares how old they are? they ruined the continuation of the franchise. The only way star wars can continue in a successful way is if they made all those sequels, spin offs included non-canon and make the real episode 7.
This is really difficult to believe. George has been through a lot and deserves his rest. I say we wait until we hear something directly from him or Disney.
George coming back and taking charge of let's say even like a little corner of Star Wars that would be just his, could save Star Wars and my passion for the current state of it
I'd love George to come back and finish the CW story arcs that never got finished. That needs to be done badly because it's the only SW material left with his creative involvement, and it would be a tragedy if we never get to see it on screen the way it should be especially since they are building new stories off of those stories but for some reason refuse to finish them. They should release them as 10, 90 minute episodes or movie specials on Disney Plus. That would solve that problem once and for all.
This is not a bad thing. George is at his best when he has someone steering him or is willing to say " Hey George, this might not be the best idea, Dial this particular thing back a little". The original movies worked because he had people over him keeping him sorta restrained.
Bro it doesn’t matter they’ll just continue to ignore him like when he wanted his treatments used during the sequel trilogy lol. At most he’ll just be invited to take some pics and watch what’s going on set like when Filoni got him to see mando behind the scenes. That’s it. Doubt they would even let him hav creative control of a small show, let alone an important one
3:00 "if George were to come back, it would unite so many people on that announcement alone. We dont know what he's gonna create / do." And thats the problem Theory. Noone should be excited at the sole concept of George coming back. Lets not forget that SW is in the state that it is because of him and the people he left in charge and then he DOUBLED DOWN on them recently when he endorsed Iger with his 'making magic isn't for amateurs' statement etc. George may have created the franchise, but that was a LONG time ago. I don't think that anyone in 2024 deserves BLIND FAITH, that ship has long since sailed. You want people to believe you can do something, show us it can be done.
You were right on the point even if George does come back. The whole point was.He shouldn't be told what to do or nobody can have to say what he writes and puts down is what's gonna be given to us, which is what 1 through 6 was, if he comes back, the studios going to be all over anything he makes
George coming back would be AMAZING: I think with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau having so much power in the Star Wars franchise, it is indeed very possible, since they both would give George Lucas the needed creative freedom.
When he sold the franchise and Disney(Iger) said no to him having any say I feel like it was the thing that made him want to be done with it. A rule that you can't touch it after you've sold it would hurt anyone's enthusiasm. We've since seen him numerous times on set, and he has to be giving guidance even if he's not controlling those projects. They have to know he's there. They probably knew they couldn't keep him out for ever as long as people loyal to him were willing to have him on location. So why not just let him be a supervisor officially if he isn't allowed to be scripting or directly controlling things? It has to be what they're doing to at least generate a buzz. If the corporation wants to get OG fans onboard it's the least they can do if they aren't going to give him control back.
My thoughts from the announcement of the disney acquisition of the Star Wars IP was, "this could be great, George Lucas' stories with Disney's funding." Sadly, that wasn't the case and walking out of the theater with my son after seeing TLJ... the magic was dead, gone and I lost hope of seeing any more of George's stories
I would only have two requests from George: 1 - Whether from Bob or Kathleen or whoever it may be, don't take directions from them. Don't accept "tips" from them. Trust your instincts. 2 - Work with talent and talent only. Jon Fraveau, Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard even. I'm not saying accept everything they say, but rather really consider their ideas. These are your peers now and they are the only ones that you should consider and share your ideas with.
At this point it wouldn’t matter if he came back. The only reason they would bring him back is because they have beaten him into submission or so that they could destroy whatever it is he comes up with in any sequel that follows.
Theory, I'm sorry. But he said that's "what I hear", "what I had heard" and "what i had read". Those comments didn't sound like George told him. I so wish George Lucas would come back because to me George Lucas is Star Wars. There is no Star Wars without George. As a big fan of George, he inspired me to want to be a filmmaker. And I couldn't think of anything better than if came back. But sadly I can't get past Roger's comments he "read" and "heard"
Josh brought up a good point: Roger probably just heard this from online rumors like the rest of us, which we have heard for a while. Roger probably didn't get "told" this in any official manner by any credible source. After all, he just said "I heard..." and then backed up and said "I may be prophesying..."
TransFormers Producer (g1) Nelson Shin actually CREATED the Lightsaber design FOR George Lucas back in the early 70's and ALSO that is WHY Megatron and some others have been able to weild ENERGON-WEAPONS from their wrists that are pretty much.. LightSabers... but yeah.. Nelson Shin was the original designer of the Lightsaber or "LASER SWORD" as they once called it.
I wish Disney would do something where they split Star Wars and let the market decide what they want to see. You can have one side that's Disney Canon where they make what they want, and another side that the Lucasverse where its George Lucas given a blank check and Disney lets him to his own thing.
Theory…I love you….but you gotta understand that this Just isn’t possible….no way in 7 hells. The guy literally told you not to take it as written in stone or any assurances.
I have thoughts, if he wants back he comes back if they respect who made it in the first place, I used to watch the behind the scenes of George approving different designs crafted for the characters like General Grievous, I just hope they listen if he gives feedback or if he has any creative freedom in anything hopefully they don't restrict him a lot. That's my opinions right there. 💯 May the force be with you, always!
You don't sound like a true Star Wars fan because why would you not want George Lucas to bring the writing and stories back to the light and save the Star Wars Universe?
I can see George coming back as a creative consultant for new projects. If he wants to direct something also, they should let him direct. Even though he's about 80 years old, there are directors that are old and still directing. For example, George Miller is still directing (79 years old, directing Furiosa) and Clint Eastwood (93 years old). I think it's great news if he comes back. I bet him and Iger talked about what happened after George sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Maybe after discussions George will now have more control and input about upcoming projects
This is one of the longest, if not the longest franchise alive, which are still up today (in terms of speaking of making multi million dollar movies and shows about it) The fact that Star Wars is still so alive as it is, given the opportunity after 50 years, just shows the genious of George Lucas, all by it's own. Amazing things can still happen, never lose hope!
I wouldn't be surprised if disney uses George in a sequel project, to try to get fans involved in that era, and to end the phrase "star wars ended with the 6th" ...
While I don't consider myself a Disney Star Wars hater, I can't deny that my love for the franchise has never been so low. While George Lucas becoming involved in some capacity on a future film/tv show wouldn't be a guaranteed home run, it'd certainly reignite some interest in the franchise for me.
George created the special editions. George came up with midichlorians, Jar Jar, and the virgin birth. George is the reason we STILL cannot buy a copy of the theatrical editions. George allowed the original negatives of Star Wars to be destroyed. George put Kathleen Kennedy in charge. George sold Lucasfilm to Disney. George just publicly backed Bob Iger to continue as the head of Disney.
And... the special editions are fine Midichlorians are fine Jar Jar isn't that bad The force birth isn't that bad You can buy a copy of the theatrical editions. It's hard to get, but the 2006 DVD is still sold around the internet The negatives weren't destroyed. They just aged a fair amount. So this is straight up untrue He had no way of knowing just how incompetent KK would be. She was one of the most prestigious producers of all time and she's done a good job managing Amblin. He sold, to protect his employees. He sold to the man who fought to give "The Young Indiana Jones show" a second season when it was on ABC, even though the first season lost money, because he saw the value in creativity. Bob Iger would have stayed CEO no matter what in the proxy fight. The only difference is that an activist investor would be on the board. Activist investors are like corporate raiders, they sell and cut and drive up the revenue temporarily, and sell their stock before the profits sink to insane lows. They are the bottom feeders of Corporate America. It doesn't mean that Lucas thought Iger was doing a good job
George Lucas did mention several times decades ago that he always wanted to do a for TV Star Wars but that the costs were impossible then. So it makes sense for him to come back on this level and maybe give us new ideas.
Theory at 4:31 you don’t know what you’re talking about. George Lucas simply failed to get control over the sequels as part of the contract because Bob had him over a barrel, George knew it, and there was nothing he could do. When R. K. Rowling sold the movie rights to the Harry Potter books to Warner Brothers, she still retained creative control, so your comment that it’s not hit it works is not true. Not saying you’re lying, just you didn’t do your due diligence and properly research and understand this subject.

This is the way.
No. It's just another way for Disney to sucker fans.
Star Wars Theroy, I want to thank you as a fan. Not only for your continued support of Star Wars, and knowledge of Star Wars lore, plus your fan fictions. But i also really want to thank you for your criticism, and how you stuck your ground through the entire downfall of Star Wars. Thank you for not falling to the dark side of Star Wars fans when episodes 7, 8, and 9 came out, and everyone was divided. Star Wara has been trash for a long time now after Disney ruined it, and I just want to say we need serious heavy hitters like you to stay on their ass, and let them know that none of us Star Wars fans are going to stand for the dog shit theyve been putting out. So thank you for your continued content through the decade or so ive been watching your channel.
A New Hope.
No the best would be he redcons everything and sais no one is allowed to make Star Wars anymore till eternity.

I’m a starwars fan and I have no problem saying George going back to Disney might not be a great idea.
There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'
@@HockeyRiveNordNaw the prequels are perfect

Disney knows that announcing his return would get whatever next project he's involved with PRINTING money. Bringing him back makes sense in every possible way. Reset the overall direction. Create new stuff to sell. Hype release..
They'd have to also give him full creative control and allow him to pick his own team to work with.
Maybe he could just serve as a consultant for Favreau and Filoni.
You underestimate old Jews, Mel brooks is in his 90s and still making stuff.
I know what you mean, but for example Martin Scorscese is 81 and Ridley Scott is 86 and both still going strong in making movies

I reckon because its such an untouched part in live action, they're bringing George on as like a creative supervisor, but then again even that sounds far fetched, and I'm assuming James Mangold just wants to do his own thing.

Don't get fooled again. Hasn't Disney done enough damage?
I'd love George to come back and finish the CW story arcs that never got finished. That needs to be done badly because it's the only SW material left with his creative involvement, and it would be a tragedy if we never get to see it on screen the way it should be especially since they are building new stories off of those stories but for some reason refuse to finish them. They should release them as 10, 90 minute episodes or movie specials on Disney Plus. That would solve that problem once and for all.
I have my doubts
Please be real this time. Kathleen is still around despite all of those rumours on her leaving.

This is not a bad thing. George is at his best when he has someone steering him or is willing to say " Hey George, this might not be the best idea, Dial this particular thing back a little". The original movies worked because he had people over him keeping him sorta restrained.

George coming back would be AMAZING: I think with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau having so much power in the Star Wars franchise, it is indeed very possible, since they both would give George Lucas the needed creative freedom.
"Hey George, thanks for voting for us, now, here's a project for you, make us another Christmas special."

I would only have two requests from George:
1 - Whether from Bob or Kathleen or whoever it may be, don't take directions from them.

I wish Disney would do something where they split Star Wars and let the market decide what they want to see. You can have one side that's Disney Canon where they make what they want, and another side that the Lucasverse where its George Lucas given a blank check and Disney lets him to his own thing.
