'George Lucas: A Biography' by John Baxter is great book about George Lucas, if you want to go in depth about the Star Wars creator and the making of his films.
Makes sense. When Lucas defended Bob Iger from that Proxy take over . He probably made a deal with him, "I want more oversight and I'll back you." And here we are with a rumor? of his return.
Especially with the "or I walk" attitude. One of the reason the Prequels were flawed was because no one seemed to challenge George at all. He is a great creative mind, but as a director, a part from a few key scenes, he's not that great "do it better" "make it more" isn't clear on what he wants. He has had great actors Portman, Neeson, Lee all be wooden and dull in most of their scenes. There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'
I think that GL has been heavily involved through DF since the sale on most aspects of what dave has been writing developing along the way. Those close mentor relationships are strong and lasting. GL doesnt have to 'come back' as creative practices are collaborative and can rely on outside chats/guidance . So guidance and checking things on storylines, plot, philosophy, is it correct this character would do X,YZ etc, over just informal chats, hanging out etc
I just learned that the original EU technically came to an end 10 years ago on Wednesday past. I think this is a good time for me to get back into the Expanded Universe I used to love so much! Josh brought up a good point: Roger probably just heard this from online rumors like the rest of us, which we have heard for a while. Roger probably didn't get "told" this in any official manner by any credible source. After all, he just said "I heard..." and then backed up and said "I may be prophesying..."
I'm much more concerned about George Lucas' health & his old age now. It will be extremely depressing once he passes away & I really hope it's not for a long time!
@@SoggyPotato4663 Yeah that would be very sad indeed. I don't believe this rumor at all & just hope he has spent tons of time with his family cause he didn't back when he was working.
There's no hope. They are doing this only to show that even George Lucas failed in making Disney star wars better. That's all. It's just propaganda. They won't allow him to do his own original stories.
I reckon because its such an untouched part in live action, they're bringing George on as like a creative supervisor, but then again even that sounds far fetched, and I'm assuming James Mangold just wants to do his own thing.
The absolute BEST thing that can happen right now is George gets full creative rights like he did in 1976, teams up with one of the only people who had confidence in him(Steven Spielberg), and makes HIS Sequels in this series AND THEN Dave Filoni continues the unbiased Star Wars we had in 2011. A New Hope.
Honestly I can't really see George coming back in any capacity where he's going to be creating a whole film or series. He's almost 80 years old, just on that alone towards the end of his life I don't see him getting years deep into a Star Wars project after he's left it for so many years already.
How to fix Star Wars: 1. Ignore the sequel trilogy and quietly decanonize it. 2. Recanonize the EU 3. Hire a Star Wars lore master 4. Create a sequel trilogy from an accomplished Star Wars writer working with George Lucas. 5. Hire an accomplished director who doesn’t hate Star Wars 6. Recast Luke, Hahn, Leia…etc 7. Write a movie trilogy detailing the rule of two centering on Darth Bane. Here we get a perspective of the Sith 8. Write a movie trilogy concerning Darth Plagueis 9. Print money!
I always thought darth plagueis was a made up sith to pull aniken to the dark side , cus that story is anikens main reason for joining palpatine in the darkside, yet palpatine or anikan are never seen using plagueis powers to keep people they care about alive
@@xrenegade4616 From what I heard he(Palpatine.) was talking about force esacnse(Can't spell that right.).Which is what Palpatine used to get to his clone. But if we're decanonizing the sequels(Which I would full support.)that could be thrown in the gutter.
He’s retired, he turns 80 this year. Not a chance he’s coming back. It would be unworthy for someone of George’s caliber to come back when they’ve treated the franchise the way Disney’s treated it.
George could buy back SW for Pennies on the dollar. But I disagree about Filoni. His hands are all over the Acolyte. Unforgivable. But George isn’t coming back, that’s just a throwaway comment.
Disney knows that announcing his return would get whatever next project he's involved with PRINTING money. Bringing him back makes sense in every possible way. Reset the overall direction. Create new stuff to sell. Hype release..
This is really difficult to believe. George has been through a lot and deserves his rest. I say we wait until we hear something directly from him or Disney.
George Lucas did mention several times decades ago that he always wanted to do a for TV Star Wars but that the costs were impossible then. So it makes sense for him to come back on this level and maybe give us new ideas.
I agree, George Lucas returning is a good thing, even if I wasn't the biggest fan of the prequels. Unrelated side note: I must have become pretty adept at picking up on Canadian accents. LOL! Often, such as with this video, I didn't know you were Canadian when I started to watch this video. I had watched one other video from you and didn't pick up on it then, but minutes into this you said the word "out" and I immediately caught that distinct Canadian accent. Heh. Contrary to South Park, "about," "out" and similar sounding words don't come out as "aboot" or "oot", whatever, but there is a notable distinction in the way most Canadians pronounce those words. "Sorry" is another one. So, I noticed it here in the video, then checked you "about me" part of the channel hme page, and it says you are from Canada. Anyway, just something interesting I noted. LOL!
I know not many people will understand this reference but this is like nick saban un-retiring im an alabama so i see the similarities nick saban is known as the goat in college football and George is the goat in the star wars game
Theory, I'm sorry. But he said that's "what I hear", "what I had heard" and "what i had read". Those comments didn't sound like George told him. I so wish George Lucas would come back because to me George Lucas is Star Wars. There is no Star Wars without George. As a big fan of George, he inspired me to want to be a filmmaker. And I couldn't think of anything better than if came back. But sadly I can't get past Roger's comments he "read" and "heard"
@@leninswalrus The prequels are all about doom and gloom. Anakin in 2 and 3 does nothing but moan bitch and cry. So there is no real comparison with the originals which were primarily about fun, redemption, and hope. Luke Skywalker is the vastly superior character to Anakin's waa waa boo hoo. Not only is Anakin a complete narcissist, he's also easily manipulated.
Bro it doesn’t matter they’ll just continue to ignore him like when he wanted his treatments used during the sequel trilogy lol. At most he’ll just be invited to take some pics and watch what’s going on set like when Filoni got him to see mando behind the scenes. That’s it. Doubt they would even let him hav creative control of a small show, let alone an important one
Theory at 4:31 you don’t know what you’re talking about. George Lucas simply failed to get control over the sequels as part of the contract because Bob had him over a barrel, George knew it, and there was nothing he could do. When R. K. Rowling sold the movie rights to the Harry Potter books to Warner Brothers, she still retained creative control, so your comment that it’s not hit it works is not true. Not saying you’re lying, just you didn’t do your due diligence and properly research and understand this subject.
@@StoolGoodman who cares how old they are? they ruined the continuation of the franchise. The only way star wars can continue in a successful way is if they made all those sequels, spin offs included non-canon and make the real episode 7.
George coming back and taking charge of let's say even like a little corner of Star Wars that would be just his, could save Star Wars and my passion for the current state of it
George coming back would be AMAZING: I think with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau having so much power in the Star Wars franchise, it is indeed very possible, since they both would give George Lucas the needed creative freedom.
I remember George sold the franchise not just for good amount of money but also in a good faith that Disney might have more resources to create large series of media art on their own, also back then people used to assume he's too tired and feeling old to make another trilogy. Boi we were all wrong about everything. We need him and people who worked close to him back in the galaxy far, far away...
You don't sound like a true Star Wars fan because why would you not want George Lucas to bring the writing and stories back to the light and save the Star Wars Universe?
I have thoughts, if he wants back he comes back if they respect who made it in the first place, I used to watch the behind the scenes of George approving different designs crafted for the characters like General Grievous, I just hope they listen if he gives feedback or if he has any creative freedom in anything hopefully they don't restrict him a lot. That's my opinions right there. 💯 May the force be with you, always!
I have essentially checked out of Star Wars (except watch the Star Wars channels on UA-cam like yours or like Generation Tech), if George Lucas returns to Star Wars, I would love for him to not be influenced by Disney, pass or fail it will be a huge breath of fresh air for this franchise. (I don’t have hope or anything but if it goes well, awesome!)
the writing staff will be the same and Lucas is old now. Also, didn't he praise Iger? I only saw video titles saying that, not the actual videos but SW sucks and aside from the originals, nothing has been that great, the prequels were interesting but highly flawed.
I wouldn't be surprised if disney uses George in a sequel project, to try to get fans involved in that era, and to end the phrase "star wars ended with the 6th" ...
Theory…I love you….but you gotta understand that this Just isn’t possible….no way in 7 hells. The guy literally told you not to take it as written in stone or any assurances.

man George Lucas is 80, I wish he came back to the series when he was 60.
is that a joke? He practically WAS 60 when he did the prequels. 57 in fact for Phantom Menace.

I’m a starwars fan and I have no problem saying George going back to Disney might not be a great idea.
There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'
@@HockeyRiveNordNaw the prequels are perfect
I agree, George created a script, he didn't make star wars, that was the talented people who made all the models and masks and special effects
Facts!
Theory can’t accept George sold his soul
WOOOOO Yeah Baby! That’s what I’ve been waiting for!
This is like Anakin showing up unexpectedly to “help” Mace.
Going to use the Wookipedia 'Timeline of Legends Media' page and Matt Wilkins' Reread lists to get through it all again.
"Here goes nothing!"
Oh you just made me realize, if this is all true it’d be so sad that if this project brought back SW but he passed before he could see it 😢
@@SoggyPotato4663
Yeah that would be very sad indeed. I don't believe this rumor at all & just hope he has spent tons of time with his family cause he didn't back when he was working.
Don't. Don't give me hope.
A New Hope
A New Hope.
No the best would be he redcons everything and sais no one is allowed to make Star Wars anymore till eternity.
His sequels with the female sith and Leia being the actual chosen one? You meatbags would lose your shit over that
@@michaeld.uchiha9084 This. Maybe make the real episode 7, 8 and 9 and let star wars rest for good.
I don’t believe that. I think this is Disney putting out these rumors to generate some positivity about Disney Star Wars.
Disney never said he was coming back. It was in this interview 😂
@@Ducks4Life14exactly like wtf is dude talking about
Yeah good one, except for the fact that Roger, the guy who said that in this interview doesnt work for disney. Use your brain
Apparently 100+ people also agreed... Bro this is delusional, how does this make any sense whatsoever... 💀
They should make a Vader show honestly. Show some his adventures while being vader and incorporate some of legends into it.
To quote Theory from the Mandalorian season 2 finale…”don’t give me hope”.
George is old though. Even with him back I don’t know what HE could even do to save this ship. It’s already sank
Honestly I can't really see George coming back in any capacity where he's going to be creating a whole film or series. He's almost 80 years old, just on that alone towards the end of his life I don't see him getting years deep into a Star Wars project after he's left it for so many years already.
Maybe he could just serve as a consultant for Favreau and Filoni.
You underestimate old Jews, Mel brooks is in his 90s and still making stuff.
I know what you mean, but for example Martin Scorscese is 81 and Ridley Scott is 86 and both still going strong in making movies
Your viewpoint is silly. George Miller is 79 years old and making awesome movies with substance and action packed. What you talking about, fool?
@@KhultanYou can make your points without throwing baseless insults around
How to fix Star Wars:
1. Ignore the sequel trilogy and quietly decanonize it.
2. Recanonize the EU
3. Hire a Star Wars lore master
4. Create a sequel trilogy from an accomplished Star Wars writer working with George Lucas.
5. Hire an accomplished director who doesn’t hate Star Wars
6. Recast Luke, Hahn, Leia…etc
7. Write a movie trilogy detailing the rule of two centering on Darth Bane. Here we get a perspective of the Sith
8. Write a movie trilogy concerning Darth Plagueis
9. Print money!
For real I'd love to see Darth Plageis, and Count Dooku and his previous Jedi Life.
I always thought darth plagueis was a made up sith to pull aniken to the dark side , cus that story is anikens main reason for joining palpatine in the darkside, yet palpatine or anikan are never seen using plagueis powers to keep people they care about alive

Twice the pride, double the fall - Count Dooku

They'd have to also give him full creative control and allow him to pick his own team to work with.
It means nothing until Disney sells it. They'll never do it and pretty much everything they do sucks.
bro your my only source to what is going on in the community/ starwars in general
This is really difficult to believe. George has been through a lot and deserves his rest. I say we wait until we hear something directly from him or Disney.
You’d have to wait a while, if this project is barely heard of then it’s probably not coming out for years
@@SoggyPotato4663 George is too old anyway
George Lucas did mention several times decades ago that he always wanted to do a for TV Star Wars but that the costs were impossible then. So it makes sense for him to come back on this level and maybe give us new ideas.
Please be real this time. Kathleen is still around despite all of those rumours on her leaving.
Ye get lol'd it ain't happening 😂
LOL!
"Hey George, thanks for voting for us, now, here's a project for you, make us another Christmas special."
I think he’s just choosing his words carefully, like he shouldn’t spill secrets like that he could get in trouble
@@SoggyPotato4663 fingers crossed
I said this 20 years ago. Adults who whinge about the Prequel Trilogy never deserved the Original Trilogy in the first place.
OK copper.
That's dumb. The movies are clearly generational. I l9ve the prequels but they're silly as shit and that doesn't appeal to some people.
Episode 1 was a disappointment.
Episode 2 was atrocious.
Episode 3 is the only good one in the trilogy.

Yeess... I can feel your anger...
I don't want George back. Disney shit the bed with Star Wars. They can lie in it. Let the man enjoy his retirement.
You don't sound like a true Star Wars fan because why would you not want George Lucas to bring the writing and stories back to the light and save the Star Wars Universe?
George just needs someone to tweak dialogue and it’ll probably be great.
