Thanks for the tutorial and also, if something bad happens and you’ve got the game on steam, all you’d have to do is to verify the files via steam. That negates the need for reinstall and just downloads all changed files :D
Thanks to you and those who are passionate enough to put together great clips and fantastic mods, the rest of us who love FS22 keep playing map after map after map. Very good video!! Congratulations! If you allow me, I have a question: If I modify the standard files IN THE GAME with custom textures, for example wheat, if I load a map that already has custom textures, for example for wheat, which textures will the game use, the ones modified by me or the ones already in the map? Thank you very much!
Thanks bud! If a map uses custom textures then those will be included in the map file structure and read from there, so will ignore any changes you make to the base game textures. Hope thats clear :)
Thanks Argsy, really nice clear video! Did you end up leaving the crop destruction filterStart="4" or change it back to what BulletBill had filterStart="8"?
Hi Argsy great vid and well explained just one question, if i change the crop textures at game level would this have any effect when on multiplayer i'm guessing not but just curious .
Hey Andy, it won't affect your ability to join a MP server but the textures will be changed for you. The game renders those textures on the client side, not the server side.
I tried adding these to a map and got an LUA error about local 'fruitDesc" nil value. Does the same when I try to copy basegame textures to the map file. This map was originally pathed to the basegame textures and never gave me problems until I put the new textures in the folder and repathed it.
Fantastic tutorial argsy us new to editting and modding really find these useful and desperately need more easy to understand and well explained tutorials on doing edits etc....would you be able to do any tutorials on how to add dashboaed live to tractors etc? Keep up the great work 👏
still having issues with the Benji mod for calmsden no matter what I do cant get that to work any advise, doing what is said here, plus beji description, in the game folder as well.???
Some maps already have custom textures installed and therefore don't look at the base game texture locations, instead within the map files there will be textures being used. Not sure if that us the case for calmsden or not but certainly worth checking. I have another video explaining how to install textures into a map specifically so that may help.
Hi Argsy, do you know if it’s possible how to code an ai worker to destroy the stubble with the custom textures? Works for me but ai helper doesn’t seem to destroy it. (I do have ai tracks mod on from modhub)
Amazing video thank you :) Follow up though - copied the lines of code into the fruit types xml, made a back up etc. However the crop destruction doesn’t seem to be working. Originally when I tested on elm creek it worked well but on mod map (Court farms) the texture is there but destruction doesn’t work. Any ideas? Cheers
Your welcome, glad it helped. With the Court Farms issue, it is probably because the map already has a custom fruit types xml, so you would need to change the one in the map itself, not the default textures. I have a second video which shows how to do it in a map specific setting. ua-cam.com/video/plujROsrtvo/v-deo.html
@@ArgsyGaming took a lot of trail and error but eventually realized what u meant. hey i know this is kinda late but i recently installed corn textures put them in the right files and unzipped the folder but nothing shows up after going to harvest corn….
did you change the xml code which sets the destruction staging? also make sure you have crop destruction turned om, and not driving over with skinny tyres
@@ArgsyGaminggreat tutorial bud, thank you! I also found this problem on Alma, Missouri where the textures changed but stubble destruction wasn’t happening. I made sure crop destruction was on, the code line was exact and I wasn’t using narrows but still no joy. I then found that I needed to alter the code in the map specific “fruit type xml” as well. Just thought I would let you know. May have already been said in the comments 👍
hey man, i do everything it says i have to do but it doesn't show the Tire tracks in the harvested texture.. the stubble is everywhere the same height even tho ive driven over it... you know how i could fix this?? and thanks for this video ❤ edit: it does show on elmcreek but not on the map i'm playing on. Sounds like the map you are using has custom textures installed already. If that's the case I made a second video on how to change the textures in a map which should help fix that.
@@ArgsyGaming Yeah i have seen that one too. You showed how to put the fruittypes xml in the file yourself. Mine already had it in the zip and it's the same as the default.. so i tried it there but no result.. i'll try again this evening🙃
I didn't hear this one sentence you said that made the problem...don't have 2 files in the mod folder😅. it worked. thank you so much for making these videos @@ArgsyGaming
Make sure the map you are testing it on doesn't already have a custom texture, the change will only be for maps which use the base game textures. Otherwise, it is just a case of finding those 4 folders and replacing the like for like texture files.
Hey Args Best guide in a long time :) Do you or anyone know about any Soybean textures ? think i heard of a map with narrow ones, but cant remember the name, doh :)
Hey mate, thanks, glad you found it useful! Taheton County has narrow soybeans on it, not looked to see how the textures differentiate - adding an extra crop is a different again to just changing textures as well

I left it at 4, but didn't actually test out what that effected!
Just wondering if you change the textures is a new save required or can I continue on my current save game. Very informative video thanks.
should not effect the game save at all, its just changing the textures the game engine renders and you see
