- Tina Marie was the second solo release in 1955 by UK singer Dennis Hale, which was issued on the Decca label as F10623 as both a 78 and a 45 rpm single. The song is probably best known from the recording by Perry Como which reached number 5 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 24 in the UK the same year.
Born Dennis Hoare in 1922, Dennis Hale began his singing career with Teddy Foster and His Band in 1945 and went on to be a featured vocalist with band leaders Eric Winstone, Oscar Rabin and Jack Parnell. He performed at different venues around the country and was also heard on a large number of BBC Radio broadcasts with those bands. He released five solo 78s in 1952-53 and three further singles in 1955-56 before relocating to South Africa, where he released some further solo recordings. Dennis Hale was tragically killed in a car accident in what was then called Northern Rhodesia in September 1960 at the age of 38.
