Thank god its a straightforward, no nonsense, no 5 minute yak to camera before showing. If only all vids were the same!

Erm - straight forward - ? I did exactly what I was shown, What happened ? The whole innards fell to pieces The bit holding all the electric parts come away from the housing that it sat in, Therefore there was nothing holding the buttons in place ! All the bits ended up over the floor of my kitchen I had to reassemble it And thank The lord. It worked, A truly messy design. Unlike the rest of a Mazda MX5 which is one of the best driving experiences you can have...

Thank you SO much! Between your video and 1 other one, I changed my battery!
I was nervous that I was going to break my key, but kept trying!
You did a great job explaining the step-by-step instructions!
The only thing I had issues with was not knowing the size of the screwdriver to use. I couldn't find 1 at first, so used a Phillip's on the 1st step. I literally needed to try about 5 small screwdrivers before finding one that worked for the other 2 steps.
    Thank you again!

This is a great and simple video, however, what's the trick if I don't have that notch to stick the screwdriver in to turn and open the lower part to get to the battery? I've watched three of these same videos and they all have the same notch, mine of course, doesn't...which is typical. What should be so simple rarely is for me. :-(

oh thank god. i have been meaning to do this for over a year but when i first wanted to do it, i got freaked out at the possibility of it resetting my key or something and not letting me start the car. i only have one so i just lived with the stupid thing not working.
i finally did it. no problems whatsoever. well, aside from my screw driver being too thick to get down into the groove. that was annoying lol I had to press the unlock button a few times before the car finally 'heard' it bu t it works beautifully now. thank you very much! so silly to put off a chore like this for so long, but now it'll never be a problem again! at least, not with this car LOL

Thanks, this helped a lot. It's always important with mechanical parts not to use force but finesse. My Mazda key was slightly different in the second step for separating the top from bottom half because mine has two small notches vs. yours only one bigger one, but knowing how they have to come apart and that I need to find a notch made it short work.
