I would adored him if he was honest to himself and be openly gay that "sets him Free !! , its auto tune , i have seen this before with huge back up dancers. Jimin's said that in Covid he suffered due to dark thoughts, missing friends, feeling depressed like many people at that time and this song is his battle to get out of that and free himself from those dark thoughts and feelings. It's his inner voice's, in his head bringing him down and how he fought back against all those negative thoughts and set himself free of them. He's always been extremely hard on himself and he's also experienced a lot of hate, body shaming from haters, death threats. etc etc.

I have a similar issue you do, but mine is I don't find GGs appealing to my ear or taste. Admittedly, I like the more unique offerings of BTS more than the widely appealing pop songs, I find this song esp compelling. I honestly say this is a masterpiece. The stark contrast, deceptively simple is softened just a bit by the blue coloration. All the referrals to past BTS songs with subtle changes really resonate. The blatantly different tone of Jimin's message/lyrics...hit so hard. No matter what is said against him now, he is setting himself free. To those who expect the same BTS to return in 2025, I say nope, they have undergone a true shift in message, arguably in overt personality, revealing themselves as more mature artists that perhaps they subsumed in service to the past iteration that was BTS. This was extraordinary.

BTS have had artistic freedom from their beginnings. They were supposed to debut as a Hip Hop Rap group, but their agency changed them to a Hip Hop Idol group. And to answer your question, Yes, actually, their CEO Bang Si-hyuk made them promise to put their own stories and feelings into their music. BTS was not supported in any way by the KPOP industry when they first debuted, and the Industry, which included the bigger agencies and the media, tried to sabatoge them over and over again, so they found their own ways to promote themselves, like UA-cam and Twitter. Their agency (Big Hit Entertainment) at the time was a very small label, that almost went bankrupt, so they had to be creative, and work extra hard. BTS has earned everything they have gotten. Personally, I like to watch reactors that don't know of BTS or are very new to BTS. ARMY UA-camrs I usally watch for unboxings, BTS updates, and BTS music video theories that only ARMY's would know. And Explanation videos. I'm glad you liked the song, I hope you check out JIMIN's album drop this coming week. He will also be on the JIMMY Fallon show. March 24th is when his album will drop, with a new Music Video.

In the West (I am from the Netherlands, Europe) BTS is not really considered k-pop. It is so much more. The only k in BTS is that they are Korean guys. You have no idea what BTS did for the image of your country in the West (and the rest of the world too).

There's not a lot happening like a lot of typical K-pop songs. You might not like it as much as this one, but just try checking it out.
