Hi that was supposed to have been The Beans or my family. I'm almost 85% sure the story was bull. I think the Brits hated my great great grand father. I'm almost 100% that's was our land at one time and we were personally at war with the Brits. Because they control history Sawny Bean was born into legend. They probably couldn't kill the man so the took his legacy. I'll tell you know. I'm restoring our legacy now
I'm from Mexico and I've been trying to find out about this legend, I've seen in many vídeos that this isn't the cave, that the actual cave is behind some hills and it's hidden also because the waves come up high and make it hard for people to get there, but also this is the best video I've ever seen so far in this cave you went all the way in there I've never seen someone actually go all they way in, thank you for sharing your adventure!!
Hi Bruno! There are a lot of different opinions, but this is the right cave as marked on the UK OS maps. The other cave in question is called “snibs” cave, named after a Dr who decided to leave the rat race and live in the cave for the rest of his life. I’ll maybe do a video showing the differences, as this seems to be an issue for everyone 😅 Thanks for watching & I’m really glad you like it!
A lot of people know that Sawney Bean and his clan inspired the movie The Hills Have Eyes. However, there is a short book series written by Jack Ketchum that this story inspired. It's his Dead River series. I just finished reading the second (of 3) books last night. Definitely check it out. I will warn you though, the first book is insanely gruesome though, so be warned.
Hi Amy! I'd heard about a book, but never actually looked into it, thanks! I'm no feart of gore/horror though, one of my favourite fictions is Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy :)
@@amymattaliano7634 It's a belter, based on the old Western frontiers. If you haven't already read/heard of it, Cormac also wrote 'The Road' - an absolute classic, but a total dirge. Makes you thankful for the little things in life when you're done xD
Went there as a wee lad when my mum and dad has a caravan at bennane head 😁 Also remember snib's cave when the road went past there and he still lived in it Memories ❤❤
I’ve heard a lot of local folk saying the same, my father in law is a Girvan resident and he’s spoken about Snib many times. Respected medical practitioner decided to give it all up and live in a cave, what a lad 🤣💪🏻
Oh aye, pretty similar terrain 😉 The hills at the beginning run from Lendalfoot to Girvan, apparently a raised sea bed. Planning on a wee traverse soon 👍🏻
Hi mate, lay-by at the crest of Bennane head, jump the fencing (should be obvious) then follow the wee path north, it sweeps round and then down into the cove through the Bracken 👌🏻 Take your time though as it can be slippy/steep.
Is the legend true. Hi my name is Stephen Dennis. My family was the Bean's. I've been following this story ever since I realized it's my family. Oh a 100% it's both true and exaggerated. The cave doesn't have capacity for the amount of body's and 30 live individuals
In its current state, no, but it’s a fun legend 😉 There is a passage that’s blocked though, which is supposed to have followed a fault to Colmonell nearby - used by smugglers.
What a place! Have you got anywhere like this near you? Any grisly local folk-tales that stick out? 😱

You gotta love the Scottish humour...a can of beans
Haha 😂 What a thing to find! Honestly though, I didn’t put them there! 😳
@@outlawedlandscapes 😂
At around 7:53 when you're coming out of the cave, there is a flash of light behind you
Ohh, I never noticed that before! Probably a reflection from the light at that angle as the upper walls are very damp 😉 …or maybe not!
This must have been so fun the times they had in this cave, i wish i could have been there to witness the festivities!
Hahahaha 😄 Must have smelled wonderful as well..!

Do a video on that guy please.
There was also severe hatred towards the Scots and Sawny was a negative contagion for Scottish men. The British were not good people back then.
Scots are Brits you genius.
Scariest one in world
I can't imagine how can 40 plus peoples live in the small cave like this and including the body of those they have kills..
It’d be pretty intimate… 🫢😄
it been said that the real Sawney Bean is the one that people could only acsess when a sea level recedes...
Yes, this one.
And with ocean two meters higher than 1500s....
The cave goes further but been blocked whats behind the black cked entrance
You have to go with a powder to detect if the bleeding continues
Guid vid mate, but I think you need to doss in it next time. 🤔
I actually addressed that in the video, but cut it out. The pigeon shit and litter in there is unbelievable 😬

The real cave isn't this one, it's a little ways around the bend.
