brilliant. Thanks for this. I'm about to take the top end off a 1955 BSA A7. Wish me luck.

I wanted to see how that front rocker shaft is removed from the head. When he lifted the cover, it was already off. It looks like it should slide out from Right to Left but mine doesn't budge.

The rocker shaft should slide out. take the right nut and lock washer off and drift the shaft out the left. Hope that helps.

@@Vintage-Cycle Thanks for the quick reply. I had backed off on all the adjusters but there was still some tension on one valve. I worked the cam gear a little and the shaft drifted out with little effort after that. I was concerned about being too heavy handed and did not know how much effort it should take. I think this 70 A-65 I'm working on is a blend of 1967 and 1970 parts that has had too many wrenches put to it over the years. I had read once that a few 1967s were still at the factory in 1970 and were sold as 1970s. I understand the Brits title a bike on the date it is shipped and not on the date it was produced. So, I'm not sure what I've got. LOL

Ensure both valves closed + slacken off adjusters before you tap out each rocker shaft.
