Oh my Lord when you switched it on - you are better equipped than Air Traffic Control at SFO now!!
Also, my favourite thing about this whole video is watching you flipping out. This is the most joyful thing I've seen recently and it's meeting all my emotional needs right now!
What We Do In The Shadows!
I used to go to the local sewing Center open house conventions ... when 300$ was enormous investment for me 30 years ago snd the majority of the attendees were affluent senior ladies and some of them befriended me.
While we were in the audience of a high tech presentation(CD-ROM INCLUDED!!! Was a BIGBIG feature) the ladies were talking, as not friends but certainly they knew each other from previous years event. They asked each other what they were mad about this year... but they were laughing. They included me in the “Tea” that they would be “mad about something” “yearly” because their respective husbands were outdoorsmen and thus year they were, “evening the score” over luscious purchases their husbands had bought ... one lady “won” because her husband had bought a boat.... and a truck to tow it... so she felt she had carte blanche blank cheque to shop for computerized machines that day. Her friend who was only “competing with a Alaskan hunting trip” asked what kind of boat, and what kind of truck, so she could “recommend” it to her husband too!
I still laugh about their shenanigans.
They sound like they'd be fantastic fun to hang out with!
That machine looks like it went to an Ivy League college and came out with a PhD and I'm suitably intimidated but I hope you have HELLA fun with it!
New crossover series for your channels "What We Sew in the Shadows"
Hahahaha YES
Oh wow, you can sew without a foot pedal!!! My right leg was amputated 8 weeks ago. I will be so happy to have that machine. Thank you for showing your new Janome.
Definitely! There are several brands (Singer, Brother, Janome to name a few) that make machines with alternatives to foot pedals. With some of the computerized machines, you just push a button, but others and older/vintage machines were also made with hand cranks or knee lever options. Best wishes in your recovery! 🤗
@@LinniuesLinens I will look into them. Thank you so much.
Make a sampler folder so you have an excuse to try every single stitch :P I have a sampler folder with my Elna 7000 that the original owner made (It can do SMOCKING!) and it's beautiful.
This is a great idea. I have a couple of vintage machines but they come with cams and attachments that I have no idea how to use and this would be a very good thing to do so I know what they are and how to do them. If I ever get a fancy modern machine this is also something I should do.
Agreed! I did this with mine to see what all the fancy stitches did soo helpful and i refer to it lots
Not boring! Totally mesmerized.
Honestly getting a machine with a thread cutter is life changing, Welcome to the cool kids club!
The earliest singers came with a thread cutter. Automatic, not so much. :)
I have a couple of Berninas but I bought a Bernette because of the thread cutter. I use it fir patchwork. Very surprised to find the cutter in this “ basic “ machine
Congratulations!!! That is so awesome! I wouldn't even know what to do with a machine like that.
Also I was watching you open that box like a badass with that carpet knife thinking that Wolverine must have been too busy to lend a hand 😉
You have been upgraded to a spaceship. And I am so happy you showed all of the bits and bobbles and whenever I see a sewing machine my favorite part was to always look at all of the different stitches. :) so thanks for scrolling through them all!
wow it does everything but take the cats for a walk....holy moly!!!!
The F foot must stand for fancy foot. That catalog of stitch types....😲🤩 This machine is crazy!!! Make all the fun things you can dream up
My Janome machine is 11 years old and fully mechanic. It has served me very well so far.
A beautiful $5,000+ machine. You know it has all the bells and whistles. Congrats.
Part of me: *wants one*
Also me: "too fancy!" *hisses and runs away to hide behind my Singer Featherweight from the 50's, that can only do a straight stitch*
This is me. I got the buttonhole attachment for my Featherweight so I can do buttonholes (one day - I've not worked up the courage yet).
@@Mommamacnz Mine was my grandmother's. I believe it was an anniversary edition, and she had all sorts of feet for it. But after 10 years of having it, I mostly have only used the main foot, and occasionally the zipper foot. I finally got up the courage to try out the ruffle foot this year, and I must say, it is awesome. We recently found her button-hole attachment and zigzag attachment, which are both crazy looking. For some reason my machine doesn't like me putting on the other feet - the pole where the foot gets screwed on sits just a bit too low, making them very difficult to put on.
Lol same!
Now I need you and Abby to put little vampire faces on your sewing machines.
Truly amazing technology! My Mom was a dressmaker and would have been just floored to see this machine!!!
My goodness Lazlo is a badass! That auto thread cutter tickled my "jelly" bean.
I've had my Babylock "Rachel" for 5-6 years and have never used a foot pedal. She has a start/stop button and 50 stitches.
What a stunning machine. May you have many years of effortless (for a given of effortless) sewing and embroidery fun with Lazlo.
I loved seeing the different stitches. I would be totally down with watching a video of you trying each one out.
So this Halloween I sewed my first dress while binge watching all of What We Do In The Shadows. Excellent name choice!
Not boring at all!!! I needed to wipe up a little drool, but it's all good! Daaayyuummm Noelle!! Now I need one!!
How does someone become a Janome Maker?!
I am so so glad you went through all those stitches. I want one now too! 🤤
as for the playing card stitches, with that level of machine, you can probably combine/customize the stitches...
Custom stitches, I'm sure they have a spot for that
Yes, each pattern is added to a series in memory.
What an incredible sewing machine!! WOW! How fun...but, in all honesty, so much to do just to get to a certain stitch. But, still, beautiful stitching too.
And, What We Do In The Shadows...TV series. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😀
Hi Noelle! I'm like Bernadette, where I handsew everything and am curretly making a bright rose pair of bodies. I just realised they're too big for me though....
Anyway, actually came to say:
"I'm a simple girl, all I need is a straight stitch and a zigzag."
Uh huh. Totally. I think your requirements of a machine just leapt a thousand fold. Enjoy your new toy!
Not even a zig-zag stitch is REALLY necessary, TBH, unless you sew stretch fabrics. Pinking shears backed up with a line of straight stitch is a very common finish on older machine-sewn garments, or French seams or bound seams where something more is needed.
Machine is so bright, there'll be no questioning What We Do In The Shadows! A little concerned how some of those embroidery stitches will come out, given the designs of Laszlo's topiary garden... Enjoy playing with Laszlo!
I have an Elna which is made by Janome. That Green start/stop button on the front is awsome! That's how you sew without the foot pedal! Yay!
Important question: Can Lazlo sew bats? I have a cheap and cheerful off-brand computerised machine, but it does have a decorative bat stitch.
Bat!
I think the overhead cam is amazing for unboxing! I think this is one of the best unboxing videos I’ve seen. I had to look up the retail price for this amazing machine and ... oh my. May the two of you sew many wonderful things together!
When I updated my machine the majority of my excitement came from three things: I had several one step buttonholes that actually worked, I had variable pressure for the foot for various fabrics, and I had automatic tie off and thread cutting. Mine is just a 4120QDC, but it's a huge step up from the Sewist 500 I had. Yay for new things!
Congratulations on your new toy! I think Lazlo will bring you many hours of happiness and you will make beautiful things together! 🥰
How satisfying is pulling off protection plastic from screens!!!!
Oh, my! I’m so excited for you!! That machine is GOALS. I may or may not have drooled over it, I’ll never tell. I’m delighted to see you being rewarded for all your hard work and dedication. Congratulations, friend!!
What We Do in Shadows!!! Nadja and Lazlo are perfect names!!
Beautiful new machine! I just decided to try to sew. I am a little bit scared to sew for the first time in my life, I guess 64 is not too late to do something new! Enjoy!
No - not too late at ALL! Such a great hobby.
The joy of a new machine and thank you for making me smile with your unbounded happiness and giddiness with a new machine. And I love "What We do in the Shadows". (I blame Abby for this - never watched it until after her cosplay)
Congrats! I saw one of these yesterday and it is so SO BIG. I am completely intimidated by it. But then again, I like to do most things on my 1916 hand-crank singer. That instruction book.... she thick. That aggressive vibration scared the crap out of me. BTW you don't mean come out of the box, but come out of the shadows ;)
I thoroughly enjoyed this! It was GREAT. Great shooting, editing, music and info. LOVED IT.
I love Janome machines. This one is magnificent, I totally get your excitement! I enjoyed watching the unboxing and testing and look forward to your future projects made on it.
That machine is more complicated than my car! It is beautiful. I hope you have many happy hours with Lazlo.
Janome is really good at manuals. The manual, even for my simple beginner machine is a beast, but it has all the illustrations and recommended settings I need. It even made me feel like an automated button hole couldn't be that scary, since the instructions were so precise.
Having the manual on the sewing machine screen is such a nice touch. That is definitely something to look for if purchasing in the future!
Another holiday Monday! First thought when I see the thumbnail picture and Noelle looks as if it's Christmas Day already - Oooo what have you done, Noelle ? That's a large hole in five grand ones over here. Ahhhh listen properly: I get it - you're a maker - that's exciting ! I am nosey about what that eyelet looks like on the reverse...days and nights of exploration here.
WOW totally awesome. Congrats on the new machine. I didn't find going through the stitches boring it was fascinating. Looking forward to see you sewing with it.
Wow what a beautiful machine. My Janome sewing machine is quite basic, but really nice to use and my Janome embroidery machine is equally easy to use. They are wonderful machines; I hope you have fun and enjoy every moment using the M7.
That's quite the knife you're using to unbox. Looks like something Maze would use in Lucifer. A serious plethora of feet! When the lights came on it looked like it was ready to take off 🚀 A thread cutter footpedal...you're livin' the dream. Teardrop eyelet. Serious excitement happening. I'm amused by the names, since your machine pierces with pointy things too, just like a vampire. I'm so thrilled for you. Those mask straps are going to have the fanciest stitches holding them on. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Fantastic! Love the large space between the needle and the rest of the machine.
Watching you take your new machine for a spin was just like taking my new machine for a spin all over again. Though I have let her down by not naming her yet.
You and Abby are such nerds and I love it SO MUCH... and I will watch anything Taika Watiti ever makes ever. That brain...
Exciting! So many options for stitches! I want those monogram options. I use my (much cheaper) machine without the foot pedal when I do free motion quilting - I have the machine perpendicular to me so my right hand isn’t trapped in the throat of the machine, and sliding it that way shortens the foot pedal cable. There should be a start/stop button on your machine that’s easy to slam.
Ahhh nothing better than getting a new sewing machine. I have gone through 5 in several years trying to find my perfect match. Love at first sight with Pfaff…and thousands of dollars later…
I wanted to love my janome so badly! But I hated the 1/4” foot. I’m neurotically obsessed with achieving a perfect scant 1/4” seam. Im sure you know us quilters are kind of nuts…
Glad you are enjoying it!
Totes jelly! I also have a Janome machine but she's definitely just a standard home sewing machine but also, she kicks butt! Love the What We Do In The Shadows reference. Very cool. Super stoked for you and Abby! I will have to check out the machine. I would love to have a machine that's able to fancy-schmancy stitches and schtuff!
Wow Noelle--cool machine--I got a simpler Janome last year and love it--saw other more 'advanced machines' at the shop where I bought mine and drooled!! You will love how this machine sews and works!! Jealous!!
Wow that's a mac daddy of a machine! All those stitches; would love to stitch one of the vine patterns
up & down fabric then sew a jacket or anything with an all over texture. Sweat!
Happy sewing lucky lady :)
That looks like an amazing machine! But the irony is strong as I'm trying to hand-stitch for the first time while watching you open a super cool futuristic sewing machine. 😆❤
What project and stitches are you starting with?
I have yet to name my M7 but now I am super tempted to name it Nandor. Jussayin! Also I loved this video!
Lol, Nandor is the name of the guy in NZ who started the Green party so he could legalise weed. That was his only policy, and only thing he cared about. Now the Green party has become more enviromental and accepted, and we had a referendum this year on the issue. It failed... but the doors have been opened...
"It's a big bloody stupid hat with a big bloody stupid curse on it, and every time you wear it something bloody stupid happens!"
Also, that machine is THE BUSINESS - I can't wait to see what you make with it!
Amazing machine! Now, if it can make inserting sleeves perfectly faster and easier.....Humm 🤗🥰
I love Nadja and Lazlo!!! They’re awesome!!!
Have fun playing!!!
Noelle, this is so amazing. You are so deserving of this wonderful honor, and I am excited to see what you make with it. :)
Congrats on becoming a Janine Maker! Can’t wait to see what you do with your new machine!
I have to agree with Cathy Hay. You were so happy that you were flipping out and glowing. Healthy and happy holiday. Virginia in Ohio
Yay! Congrats! I got myself a big fancy machine a few years ago (Pfaff Creative Icon) and while it does a 1,001 things the thread cutting and auto foot raise are the main things I’m pretty sure I can never live without now.
Lazlo is a super machine, how cool! Congratulations! 💚
I'm so excited for you! I've personally been a Singer loyalist with simpler machines, but it's awesome watching you learn such an advanced machine 😁 I can't wait to see what awesome things you create with him!
Your box opener is no joke! 😂😂
It’s a linoleum knife.
Wow this is amazing!! Enjoy 👍😀
Watching a machine cut thread is just p*rn!!! Thanks for letting us watch he unboxing!!
Also I just discovered the show you referenced...and I'm told their is a movie that I need to hunt down. :)
That thing will do black work on smocks and shirts and that’s before you get to embroidery. I am super impressed.
I’m a bit late in seeing this, but I spent almost the entire video with my mouth wide open in amazement. Hope you’re having fun with him!
I was amazed to see you with a carpet cutting knife!! Do you cut carpet often?? Not the usual knife to see someone use to open a box. LOL! The machine is beautiful and you will love having the automatic thread cutter. I have it on mine and yes it finds the bobbin thread each time!! So many stitches to try too! Have fun playing around with it!
This is very cool! I opened my new little singer machine and made similar happy noises while looking at different stitches. I also made a little sampler of all the different stitches (granted I have a total of 12 stitches and not 1200+ like yours).
If it's a sturdy machine, you'll get more use out of the 12, than the 1200+. The vast majority of machine stitching is still straight, followed by zig zag.
I’ve been using my 12 stitch kenmore since the 80’s. It does everything I want. Though I have to admit that the singer 301 is nicer for top stitching.
that is super awes! you should do a vid on what kind of fabric you sew on it. Leather, bag making and stuff!
Oh my goodness! What an awesome beast of a machine! I'm super excited for you!
This machine does whatever the opposite of asmr is... But it's sews so fast I'm shook... Literally
Oh, but the unboxing was music!
That's awesome! I'm still using my grandmas 1971 New Home (now owned by Janome. )
Totally Jealous!!! BUT... actually very happy for you, Noelle! Congratulations!
That was amazing, oh and What We Do in the Shadows. ;)
This is so exciting! I feel like somehow this is a sign that you've really made it, when companies send you really cool things.
Though just a note, before you get too excited about those eyelets - they're decorative, not functional, so don't try to use them for lacing!
This is insane! I loved seeing it and seeing your reaction! I plan on getting something smarter than my little Toyota next spring, and while I'm 99% sure it won't be as smart as yours, I am SO HYPED about new tech! So many swirly stitches. Automatic thread cutting! Smarter buttonholes! Better guideplates. Walking feet! EEEEEP!
Yay new sewing machine! My (at home) work desk is the same Alex drawers and table top from ikea. Can’t wait to go back to the office so it can become a dedicated sewing space.
HAPPY HAPPY! Enjoy and have fun!
Congratulations *S* MAy You have Many Wonderful Hours Learning and Playing and Not least stitching with that Wonderful Machine *S *
As someone who has a Janome (but not the fancy fancy one you have - mine is also like fifteen years old now) your question about the card suits stitches - you can program it to put them all in a row (one heart, one spade, one diamond, one clubs - or honestly whatever you like) and repeat. So you can "stack" any of your decorative stitches as you like. Just like you spelled out your name with the alphabet stitches. You should also be able to mirror the stitches.
Can't wait to see you have big fun with this new baby.
What We Do In The Shadows!!!! Love it!
I think you will have plenty of opportunity for videos of you learning to use all the bells and whistles of this machine. I see many beautiful stitches in your future. That one piece that you didn't say anything about that looks like a leg is a great tool for using your knee instead of a foot pedal. That is super for us fur mommies with fur-children who insist on sitting on our feet while we sew.
I am so happy for you Noelle this looks amazing.. I will admit when you said "now for a little weapons upgrade" all I could picture was the R.Y.N.O. from Ratchet and Clank .. I may need to get out more or something lol
Your Laszlo looks at home already and could not be in better or more skilled hands. Congratulations on the wonderful achievement.
What a great machine! I really enjoyed watching you unbox it!
Congratulations again! Such a beautiful machine so excited for you!
It has been far too long since I have watched you. Just wanted to say so excited to see you with a new machine. Oh and thank you for giving me the confidence to make my own dress. Simple but it turned out great and was ready to wear on christmas morning.
I've been deeply and faithfully in love with my Bernina for about 25 years, maybe more, but, Damn! You and your brand spankin' new Jenome are making me think of straying.
I also think your new sewing machine cost more than my car....
Oh! And the buttonholes!!!! Swoon!!!!
As someone who sells Janome machines, including the M7, watching this just made me want to tell you all the things.
Plz tell me all the things!!!
@@Costuming_Drama Here's some of the things. To start off with, yes, if you unplug your foot control you can sew without it using the start/stop button. Which is a really nice thing for the one step buttonholes, which really are some of the neatest things. So many fun different styles. Oh, and your needle threader will become your new best friend once you get the hang of it. They can sometimes be tricky to get a hang of, but that one is one of the easier ones. Once you get the hang of a needle threader you don't want to go back, but it is good to note that it's not recommended to use your needle threader with needles smaller than a 12/80, because it can bend or break the little wire hook that goes through the eye of the needle, and they do break easily and are not covered under warranty because they do break so easily. Same goes for bobbin cases. Janome machines do have one set of really neat decorative stitches that you can use to make your own label for how to wash a garment. Most Janome machines are geared towards quilters which is why they come with your 1/4" foot, what they call flex feet which take the place of a traditional walking foot, as well as the straight stitch needle plate (that might be a regional thing, rather than calling it a presser foot plate. Canadian prairies) As well as several different kinds of free -motion feet. Then your machine will have a low bobbin indicator and you can choose how low it goes before that comes up on screen or turn it off all together. You didn't even look at half the stitches in the machine in your video, there are a lot of stitches lol, especially in comparison to a mechanical machine. You can chose how loud you want the machine to beep at you or turn it off all together. You can choose how long it takes for your machine to go to sleep and turn off the screen and lights when you're not at the machine sewing, turning back on when you touch the screen or any of the buttons. You can even choose to have just certain lights on, on the machine and have the others off. So while that's not ALL of the things, it is a few things. I could keep going yet, but that could be 4 times as long yet at the very least.
I love the What We Do In The Shadows reference 😂 You got such an amazing machine, I just have a Singer Confidence as my fancy computerized machine, and it only has a fraction of the stitches and fun things on it as yours does-- I've barely been able to play around with all the fun stitches. Feels like it'll take a lifetime.
Super happy for you!! This is so exciting!
That machine looks like it could coordinate a launch for NASA. My humble dial and I are dully impressed and intimidated. Hopefully you get much joy from it. Also, just spent about 3 hrs completing a shirt I put off for weeks 🙄😅🙃
What I like about this: thread cutter and that it finds the bobbinthread on its own. What I feel less exited about: it makes so many wierd noises. But that may be because I am used to a relatively silent mashine and prefer things that way.
Mines a Janome, but more of an entry level model. Getting on really well with it. Even managed to(fanfare of trumpets)sew my blouse sleeves on without any mishap!
I'm sure you've figured all these things out by now, but the individual shapes can be saved to memory in any pattern you like such as: ♠️♥️♣️♦️♥️♣️♦️. There is a "start" button that you use without the foot pedal. It's good for great lengths of straight stitches or patterns. My manual did not have an index. After I used my machine for awhile, I went through page by page and made my own index, because it was hard to find specific things. It also helped me review the information about my machine. Something to consider if not having an index is common for Janomes. Have fun!
That is awesome congratulations 🎉 I loved seeing all of this. It reminded me of when I got my new Brother machine last year. All of the things just seem overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of him and he will teach you his ways.
I would *love* a video of all the crazy stitches and spelling this thing can do.
Oooh buddy! You are going to have so much fun with that machine! 🥰 Also, I feel like you will have no more excuses to avoid learning your serger once you learn this machine. Lol
It was so funny watching you wonder about the bobbin. I’m still surprised by some of the things my machine does
Really cool! I am so happy for you! can't wait for you to show us more.
I got my first computerised machine 10 months ago. I had no idea all the things the new machines can do. Brother se625. Sew and embroidery. Love it.
