I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.
Best intro to a song EVER! Meatloaf's real name is Marvin Aday. Jim Steinman was the writer for a lot of Meatloaf's songs during his heydey, and he was also the "yes" man at the beginning of this video. 😊. An amazing team, much like Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Great reaction and thank you! ❤
I hate Maths, too. But I've learned one thing: Jim Steinman + Meat Loaf = perfection! Jim Steinman is the songwriter, piano player and the male speaker in the intro and Meat Loaf (Marvin Lee Aday) is the singer.
Honestly, this song should be on prescription: you can't not smile and sing along when listening to it, especially when you're blasting it in the car on a national speed limit road. As others have stated, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman are two different people. Jim is the writer and the creative brains behind the songs who you see doing the spoken word at the beginning and at the piano; and Meat Loaf is the performer / vocalist. And yes, Meat does have a very unique and distinctive voice. He's a heldentenor, which I think is the higher of the tenor vocal ranges and is very rare. It comes from Wagnerian opera where the lead heroic male sings in that kind of upper register...and Jim was a huge Wagner fan - go figure! Meat was actually offered the chance to train at the Met as an opera singer, for what would be considered an eye-watering salary nowadays, never mind back in the early 1970s. He turned it down and stuck with Jim. I do wonder if the Met would have tried to "iron out" all the rawness, accents and inflections that make his voice so unique...but I guess we'll never know!
Meatloaf was very theatrical. Before his time. His voice range is off the charts. He was so very talented. I miss him. You will never find another one in our lifetime. A great performance on so many of his videos. ❤
The Bat Out of Hell album tells a story w/ Bat Out of Hell as the final piece even though it is the 1st song. You Took the Words... is the beginning and the other songs spill out the story in order w/ the noted exception. The whole album is great, selling a massive 43,000,000 copies world wide according to several sources. You should do them all. That's Jim Steinman in the intro & on piano. (Songwriter/creator of Meatloaf). Jim writes the music & lyrics. Meatloaf (goes by many names. Born Marvin Lee Aday, Goes by Michael (known legally) or Meat or Meatloaf. He is the singer and has input into the music. Todd Rundgren, a real live genius, produced and helped with the arrangement on the album. He did the famous motorcycle guitar solo in Bat Out of Hell (song) in 1 take. Ellen Foley sang on the album, but Karla DeVito performed on the video & tour. Ellen went into acting (I saw her on the TV show Night Court). Todd had his own band Todd Rundgren's Utopia (& Nazz before that). Apparantly he's still touring in 2022.
I love how theatrical Meatloaf was. If you watch Jack Black perform in Tenacious D you can definitely see he was influenced by Meatloaf. My favorite song is Heaven can wait. I don’t hear it mentioned much but it is a great song.
@@sharonscurti8024 You should check out Jack’s movie Pick of Destiny it’s just a small part in the beginning but Meatloaf play’s his dad it’s so good. You can also just watch the video “Kickapoo “ as a fan you probably already know about it but just in case 😁
The man, not the band, Meat Loaf is the name of the singer... while not widely known, the bands name is "The Neverland Express." The Neverland Express is still touring with a replacement singer, Caleb Johnson who won "American Idol" Season 13. Meat Loaf's 12th and final studio album "Braver Than We Are" was released in September 2016, 39 years after "Bat Out Of Hell"... but he was around before that, he was in the Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975 and the stage version before that as well as the musical Hair in 1975. Jim Steinman was the man doing the intro about the wolf with the red roses. As for I'd do anything for love, it made total sense, just read the lyrics, he says exactly what he wouldn't do.
Fun fact his Dad named him Meat” before he came home from the hospital, Loaf came later. Suggest “ Paradise by the dashboard light“ live. If you haven’t done it. 😂
I see others have already cleared things up regarding who Jim was and who Meatloaf was, my only suggestion is to listen to the entire Bat Out of Hell album. It holds up pretty well to the passage of time.
Ok. I'm not sure where you're getting your information but it's all wrong. Meatloaf - the singer - is Michael Aday. Jim Steinman wrote the songs in tandem with Meatloaf and Jim was the guy speaking about wolves and red roses with the girl at the beginning. Jim Steinman also recently passed away but wrote many iconic top ten songs for other artists that you should react to - 1) Total Eclipse of the heart - sung by Bonnie Tyler and - 2) Making Love out of Nothing at all - sung by Air supply.... just to name two. Meatloaf and Jim Steinman together were just magic! 💫
Meat Loaf is the name of the singer. Jim Steinman is the songwriter, piano player, and did the speaking intro.

Meat Loaf's, more like.
Bat out of Hell IMVHO is one of the few albums that doesn't have a bad song in it.
I still have this album on vinal.
Meat Loaf died January 20, 2022. R.I.P. But I will never forget the fantastic concert he gave in Copenhagen.
Anton, you really give me a good giggle at. your reactions .Your smart, your funny and knowledgeable, you're great.❤
as a teenager in the 70's I still think this is one of the top 5 debut albums of all time, try almost any cut off that album and it's a masterpiece
He was such a brilliant singer ❤

Meatloaf is basically a combo of Chris Farley and Jack Black, except he was godfather to both.
Awesome song - Bat out of Hell was a must have album in 77/78
5:53 one of the coolest moments in rock history

Jim Steinman is the Pianist, he's the brains behind the band. Vocalist is Marvin "Michael" Aday.
Jimmy is a song writer as well

@@kimzwolinski9919 Thanks I will check it out.
Meat was a hell of a singer and performer but I’ve been in love with Karla DeVito since these videos came out in the 70s.
Karla the back up vocals is awesome
It would be really interesting to see how this album would do if this was released today. Has to be in my top 5 albums ever. Timeless classic.

So theatrical!

Worst intro to a song ever.
Can't win them all. It's a better version on the studio recording
