Shell Knob is a beautiful area still, and considered the "quiet side of the lake" It has been growing with weekenders coming in and building custom lake homes now, mainly from Wichita...which is another nickname for it- "Little Wichita"
@@LivinginBranson Yes! I know the folks were visiting there. My wife at the time worked for Boeing St.L and visited Wichita plant often. I contracted for the Aerospace industry until retirement.
Shell Knob is awesome! I've been down there several times as one of my good friend's family has a place down there and we plan on going down there again later this summer.
@LivinginBranson That's interesting. I've been down to Shell Knob a number of times to a good friend's family's lakehouse so I'm curious what will happen with this town going forward.
I live on the shore at the Lake of the Ozarks and in the busy waterways in Osage Beach. I love having my own private dock. I take my boat out during the week and let the crazy busy waterways on weekends happen without me out there. I do like going to Branson too, but for the shows mainly. To me the two lakes draw in tourists for different reasons. Both lakes have their positives and negatives. 🏖️
Table Rock doesnt have enough marinas. Theres a 2 year waiting list for someone who could "liveaboard" on their vessel for any length of time. The slips for sale at 50k are bass boat size and twice as much as a liveaboard size with cable/wifi, water, security and electicity at LOZ.. I have no doubt tho that Table Rock will one day be ruined too.
The quiet, peace, and conservation of Table Rock is worth preserving. I don't personally care about lakes in my plans for a home, but any fool can see that more people always equates to an infestation (in the worst sense of the word). Good comparison video; excellent.
Funny. Those of us at Beaver Lake consider Table Rock overdeveloped and busy. Launch from Starkey's and go just about in any direction and you're pretty much by yourself.
I'm a non-drinker but I do enjoy good food. Table Rock sounds like a calmer more peaceful lake but the lack or restaurants would be a detriment. I'm looking for a vacation home and I like to eat out when vacationing. It seams if you go west on LOZ it gets much calmer and you can still boat over to all "the action" if you want. Plus, having a dock where you can just get on your boat and go is huge. Does Table Rock have marinas with guest slips? I'd want to be able to leave the boat in the water while I'm there and not have to launch and trailer it every day.
I prefer LOTO because I like to walk down to my dock, get in my boat and go out right away. I also like having all the restaurants and activities. It's such a big lake that you can avoid the busy parts if that's not your thing. Table Rock, though pretty, sounds like there's not much to do there and you have to find a launch to drop in your watercraft? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Table rock is a beautiful lake. You can actually enjoy being on the water without thousands of boats! The only thing lacking are the restaurants you alluded to. Great place for sure.
It really is beautiful! Thanks for your comment. We found 2 new great places to eat lately- Laketime Bistro, and The Sandwich Shop right next door in the same strip mall on Hwy 13.
I grew up on the lake of the ozarks and recently a family member bought a nice new house on table rock lake and I prefer table rock. First off the water is way way cleaner in table rock, ozarks water has never failed to give me a painful ear infection. Table rock is definitely a more laid back local lake compared to the constant party at ozarks. It’s just based on what you’re looking for but I would recommend table rock over the ozarks.
Your comments about Table Rock being peaceful and quiet were true when I started coming here in 1972 but not today. Way too many cars, boats, docks, and the houses that have destroyed the once beautiful rolling, timbered, mountainous landscape.
Bull Shoals Lake reminds me of how Table Rock used to be, like when there wasn't many homes at all, but with the location of TRL growth is bound to happen. At least the corp helps with keeping the lake more natural and not overdeveloped.
@@LivinginBranson Thanks for the kindness of your reply to my somewhat negative comment. Time marches on and things change. It is what it is on Table Rock. I have my fond memories of 8lb bass and 2-3lb crappie from the early 1970's.
The comment stating that "Lake of The Ozarks is Table Rock Lake on steroids" was too damn funny! Got a nice chuckle out of that. The few times I visited each lake couldn't help but notice the water quality is much better at Table Rock than Lake of The Ozarks. There are areas of water stagnation at Lake of the Ozarks that actually have an oil sheen along the shoreline. Even the characters in the Netflix series Ozark ( Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz and Janet Mc Teer) takes shots at the Lake of The Ozarks area. Wendy Byrd, " and here I am, in nowhere Missouri"
@@LivinginBranson Hey back at you, Carrie. Enjoy the quality presentation presented by "Living in Branson MO & The Ozarks" and the history lessons they provide.
When I was much younger, my parents almost always went to Table Rock Lake. Because it was very peaceful and quiet. (Joe Bald campgrounds) ( I'm 60 now and living out of state) For the last 15+ years, my dad and his wife, along with my aunts and uncles, go to Stockton Lake because they feel that even Table-rock is too busy and crowded for them. They camp in RVs and usually stay two or three weeks at a time. They live in the Springfield area except for one couple (aunt and uncle) they live in Wichita Kansas.
Yes I'm sure Stockton is less crowded. Bull Shoals is also like that just harder to get to for most people. There are definitely some hidden places out there still!
Good informative video. I think at one time I would have been interested in Lake of the Ozarks, the party atmosphere, nightlife, but with that lifestyle it also draws in the wrong crowd. Table Rock seems more my speed, quiet where you can relax with friends or family and just enjoy being out on the water without having to worry about someone bumping into your boat. I also like the smaller marinas with restuarant/market, it's kind of quintessential to what lake is, quiet, a place to relax, fish, ski, wakeboard, etc...
yeah I look at the homes on Zillow & I'm like omg - I can't afford 2.2 million dollar home & if I could I don't need a 6bd 5ba. I'd like a 2 or 3bd with 2 or 3 ba a boat slip & a decent screened in back porch - maybe I'll start looking at Branson 😀
Both are junk if you ask me. Both are crowded and overdeveloped if you ask me. Bull Shoals is head and shoulders above these 2 lakes if you want peace and quiet and better overall fishing experience (Tablerock has way too many tournaments now all jammed into the a small window timeframe) but less amenities if that is what you want and harder to get to (you can be 15 miles from Branson as the crow flys but still 50 min. drive to Branson)
Pomme de terre. Mark Twain lake. Thomas hill reservoir..those are a few of my favorites. If you have a smaller boat north fork of mark Twain is a good place to go just be careful and be mindful of shallow spots. Pomme de terre is the best skiing lake in the state I think..Thomas hill is just good all around
Thanks for sharing carrie I prefer quiet table Rock Lake have a great day
Always loved vacationing and camping @ the Shell Knob area of Table Rock. Since family has grown have been in a few years!

You have to add Branson and maybe even Eureka springs as part of Table Rock lake area. When you do this it isn't close to what the better option is.

Yes we have full service marinas but they have waiting lists for slips. You can also buy them from owners in community docks.

Neither…both lakes are overcrowded with credit card captains with no clue how to operate the vessels they have. So many better lakes in Missouri
