The tone on the drums is amazingly period. I can't think exactly what artist or song this reminds me of, which is a sign that this music isn't "derivative" but something else. You say, like an old record at a yard sale, maybe. It makes me think of something else. Imagine being a kid and driving down some highway and looking at a side road and wondering where that road leads. Then remember, if you did, listening to oldies as a kid. This song is like a side road off an old highway of oldies. Like, if you were driving down the same US highway as Question Mark and the Mysterians, The Buckinghams and Strawberry Alarm Clock and you see a side-road and wonder what abandoned fairgrounds or dilapidated motel or Nancy Drew mystery lies down that path, that is what this song brings to mind for me.
