I really appreciate the quality of all your videos. In addition to clear content, it is a pleasure to watch technical, nicely dressed dancers. Salsa could benefit from a little international touch. Please make more salsa lessons. Thank you.
Egils thank you for the Salsa Video. Comments are based on LA style (ON 1). Entry to the hammer lock can originate in many different ways and can be on either side of the follow. So getting in is relatively easy. Getting the follow out of the hammer lock is not so easy. To not hurt the follow, the follow arm must be straight along the body as it is unwrapped. To do this all that is needed is to pull straight down. The follow will turn naturally in response and the follow arm will exit without jamming the wrist or shoulder. So there really is no unwrapping of the follows arm. By pulling down you will get the desired turning motion of the follow, and the follow arm will not jam. Try this with a simple hammer lock move, you will see how easily it works. Cross body lead from two hand open can be done in many different ways. The two most popular are the ballroom roundhouse two hand pull and the other is lead the right hand pull underneath the left to help the follow start across. The ballroom method works well but is really hard to describe and get correct, so I will concentrate on the second approach (LA style). In the crossbody after the lead has opened the lead left hand is held out, the leads right hand will go below the leads left arm to fully extend the follows left. Essentially you are pulling the follow slightly forward on 5 because the follows arm is fully extended. Once the follow starts to cross, the leads left hand will catch up to the right. This will work and will untangle your hands.
Hooray! At last! The perfect video tutorial. Even the hip movements de-mystified. Ten out of ten starred. A joy to watch for teacher and pupil. Congratulations and many thanks.
