Among mech brake this Shimano BR-M375 is one of the better tyre. I switched from stock mech Avid brake and the stopping power is so much better. Also it is built solid , though slightly heavier.

Still one of the best upgrades you can do indeed! And don’t make the mistake to use off brands pads.

you should just have swapped the whole cable including the tension screw from the old brake over to the new brake without cutting the brake wire etc :-D

Be careful the metal washer which holds the cable secure when you tighten nut is very poor quality and breaks. Had to take washers from old tektro brakes and fit them. Cant get spare washer parts either. The rear brake is a nightmare takes upto 2 hours to set up properly and adjust poor quality shimano product. The original brake is made in China probably the reason for such a headache to fit . Use the shimano bolts I tried to use the tektro bolts won't work are too long. Also you should feed the cable through the circular slot not around the outside and there are no instructions included.

Thanks for watching! It took me indeed way too long to fit the brake. But finetuning the brake was pretty easy once I understood how :)
I kept the Shimano bolts as well and will have them as spare. Maybe you are right that the original ones are quite a soft kind of metal.
I’ve tried to feed the cable inside the slot. But with this brake it jams the mechanism. On the BR-M375 it really goes around the outside. There is a shallow grove that guides the cable.

I didn't have any problem with brake cable jamming I ran it inside so stays covered up . The shimano brm375 now on sale in few places 26 pounds per caliper . Usual cost is 32 pounds per caliper. Other brakes cost more even the china aliexpress brake calipers. The brm375 seem good when tuned up properly. Don't forget to squeeze brake lever then tighten caliper. Do this a few times to make sure pads don't rub the gap is mm thin so must be done few times is a nightmare but once achieved is ok 👌

Thnx for the tips! I did it the same way with centering. I’ll try the cable on the inside once more. But most videos on UA-cam have the cable run on the outside as well.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I thought I was the only one having problems setting up this new calipers... :) I'm also using the Shimano bolts. Since my setup is not 100% yet, i have a couple of questions:
      1. Do we really need to use the original washers on the rear brake caliper?
      2. What's the best solution to sit the cable silver cap into the caliper barrel adjuster (without removing it as HomeLeCat did)... replace with a thinner silver cap? replace caliper barrel adjuster with a wider one? Thanks!
