Quick tip. Butt the two pieces of wood together, I clamp the ends of the boards so they don’t move. Run a track saw down the middle and the two pieces will join perfectly.
Good job! I smile every time I see you "squeeze" around stuff in your shop, it looks like mine! My wife keeps telling me I'm going to get hurt if I don't remove some of the stuff! And I keep telling her, "I need it all"! Stay safe and have fun.
That looks good Gary and you got a really close fit. It's hard to match stain colors. I like the stripe the way it is as a feature. You could glue some thin strips of lighter color wood on the edges of the leaf as a buffer between the two colors, to show it off even more like racing stripes.

Looks good, Gary. "I'm torn between mahogany and red oak. Let's use dark walnut" It turned out great anyway.
Bill
Thanks, Bill! Like a big dummy, I probably forgot which one I said I'd use between the house and the shop....lol! Oh well, I can fix it.😊
It worked beautifully too. Good time was had by all with lots of food.
Awe....thanks, mom! I was glad I got it done in time.😊 We all had a wonderful time!

Ha ha ha...right?! It might be 8 years down the road, but I might need it! The struggle is real. Thanks, man!

That's not a bad idea, Steve! A little table racing stripes!? Perhaps....perhaps....Thanks, Brother!
Good job. I think you’re correct about mixing a little red oak in there. I think maybe a pecan stain would have worked well.
Ooo yeah. I just used what I had...but I'm going to give a little red a try. Thanks, Norman!
Thank you
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Great work, Gary! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Andy! Hope you had a great one!
Looks good, did you dry fit before you glued in the dowels? Thanks for sharing.
I actually don't remember. But I suppose if they were off, I already have plugs in the holes to trim off and drill new ones...lol!
