Good on Barney for sticking up for fat Tony's kid. Fat Tony looked after Barney after his own father passed. Imagine the disgust if he knew how they'd treated his son.
Nice one James!! Always interesting to hear more about Barney Bellomo. The man is practically a ghost. Especially if you factor in that he has been a man man since 1977 when he was only 20 years old. That must be a record since the books were reopened in the mid 70's. Plus he has been in leadership positions since the late 80's. He also handled this situation perfectly imo, from what I've read and heard about Artie Nigro is that he was a real sleazy individual but Bellomo set him straight. Not very surprising that Chin handpicked Bellomo as his eventual successor. But if Cicale is to believed he's only a front boss for Ernie Muscarella, but without further evidence I have a hard time believing this.
Wow, your research & insights are second to non. I really don't know how you find these stories but we're all so grateful for everything that you do ❤️
Interesting! My immediate reaction is that these two individuals were disgusting people and also pretty stupid. It sounds like a bad idea to try to threaten and extort the son of a well-known LCN boss, even after his death. It would seem quite likely that the son might still have some connections they could call on. It's also very interesting that Bellomo recognised that the same could happen to his own family and stopped this behaviour straight away.
I love the stories about the East Harlem crew. I had family that lived near 120th Street and Pleasant Ave. When we visited there we went to the Catholic Church on 116th Street, just a street over from the Palma Boys Social Club. The best pizza I have ever eaten came from Coppolas Pizza right there too. I have walked past Rao's up there too many times. So your stories are always interesting jumps back to my childhood in the 60's and 70's on that neighborhood.
WOW! Hey man I don't know if you included Artie cause I had mentioned he was a relative and you said you would look into it. Either way ì Iit was cool to see a family member in a video. My family thinks it's cool and always thought he was some goodfellas type gangster. But I found out he was greedy and messed up the whole springfield branch of the Genovese family. I used to play with his son and he was a straight weirdo. They lived on Hollywood Avenue in the Bronx. Anyway very good video as usual.

Fat tony, was a decoy for Vincent chin gigante, that main boss, tony was a fall guy, while chin was playing mad for 20 years, very smart man,but no one would mess with him.
Excellent video again, James. I may have asked this before, but can't remember: do you have any info or stories about the families from Waterbury, Ct ( namely, the Albini or Scarpa families)? In my teens, my father ran a gas station & repair shop there and they always treated my Dad good, and with respect. I remember my Dad once saying not to ever piss them off, they were the 'real deal'. Just curious. Thanks again for another great video.

That was the one and only barber who cut my hair as a kid growing up on 116th St. during the 60-70's. The barbershop was across the street from my building between Pleasant and 1st Ave. and next to The Delightful Diner/Restaurant.Get a haircut, and Claudio would give the kids lollipops afterwards.
