  • Unfairly maligned by Ducatisti, the Cagiva is in fact a terrific all-around motorcycle that shines in town, on the highway and especially on the racetrack (with just a few modifications). Bonus: when they come up for sale they are usually quite affordable!

    I believe the name means blue wing.

    Allazzura means Blue Wing. Note: The footrest assemblies where taken from the Pantah TL touring versions. A very nice Ducati in all but name.

      @@wakinossin I own a very heavily modified 600 TL myself. In it’s original guise it was a true Ducati in all but looks. In other words: Like that silent sister of the girl you initially fell for. A true swan in disguise! 😁

      @@marcbrasse747 Agreed. Very nice bikes, and much easier to ride than my Pantah 500 or Pantah 600. Faster too.

      @@marcbrasse747 I see. That's fine - I like to keep my bikes mostly standard, the way they came from the factory, with period mods when needed. It's hard to find vintage bikes that are in stock condition, especially ones that made great track bikes. So that's my niche.

    I had a white 500 Pantah in the '80s which was an absolute top bike. Sold it to 'upgrade' to a 650 Allazzurra in '88 that a friend was selling. It was never as nice a bike to ride I found, but I still regret selling them both!

    • @wakinossin
      @wakinossin  2 роки тому

      They're both great bikes, the Cagiva is far more comfortable to ride and a much more torquey motor, with more 'around town' gearing. But the Pantah can eat the kilometres at a very high rate of speed.

      @@wakinossin I found the Cagiva viby with the lower gearing - I went back to the Pantah gearing and fitted lower 'bars, plus a 2-1 pipe and pod air filters. Was bikeless for a couple of decades but bought an '09 Hypermotard 1100 a couple of years back. Always wanted a 750F1 but I don't fit well!

    I had the brother to this one. Looked exactly the same! The bike never got jealous of the wife. The wife got jealous of the bike! No more wife, hope to find a Ducati again.🤣

    Any guess on value of an 85 ducati aluzzurra 650 now? Paint is good. 18,000 miles.

      I'd want $5,000 for mine. I'm in Ontario myself. Parts are easy to get - the motor and much of the running gear is Ducati and a lot is available even at dealers. The bodywork is available from resellers on various online sites. I'd get one if I were you.

      @@mikeholland1031 Oh that's the one on Kijiji right now? Painted all red? My buddy spoke with the guy and was told it needed work on the front cylinder and a 'cable is corroded' but didn't get any further details. I think if you could get it for what you hope, it would be worthwhile.

    I swapped my MGBGT for one in about 2000 but it never ran reliably, it would keep going onto one cylinder for a while.

      @@wakinossin ya maybe. Found out my insurance was far more reasonable than I thought on a sport bike cuz I'm old now. Got an FZR1000 cheaper and 3 times the power. Cheap parts too. No disrespect to the ducati but I started thinking it just wasn't me and then the electrical issues. Some plug into the cdi box was messed up and was wired directly. A short somewhere. He rebuild one cyl but not the other. I started getting a bad feeling about it.
