At 4:05 It jumped to 128 because you have set another downbeat marker (red) on the 2nd Bar. Delete that 2nd marker or use the reset button to clear all the markers and start again with only the downbeat marker on beat 1. Cheers!
great vid Phil! In the beginning the reason that your software said 126 BPM is because the beginning of your second bar had a (red) down beat marker. You're going to want to hit delete on that to make it a regular white marker so that it does not think the BPM is different from the first bar. Hope this helps.
Editing Beat grids is the bane of my existence. I struggle so much because it's perfect at the start... I fix up the aligning further down the track, and then it's all out of whack at the start again lol.
I use Serato with the Pioneer DDJ-SX3 controller. I love it; however, unlike the SX-2 and some other models, Pioneer replaced the beat grid editing buttons on the controller with key buttons. Therefore, I have to use the program on my computer to edit the beat grid. It's not a big deal; however, the virtual record does not display decimals when in the edit beat grid mode. As the result, you have to toggle in and out of the editing mode to ensure the BPM is a whole number.

A lot of disco and new wave music has the occasional 1- or 2-note fill at some point in the song, which throws everything from that point off. Hello, I'm trying to use the Beat Grids on some of my old Disco songs and unfortunately it doesn't work at all. Too much irregularity when placing the first beat on each Bar. So that gives that the song can go from 113 to 118. If we save the song this way, when we listen to it we can hear the speed distortion of the song. I don't know what to do anymore to be honest. I also heard when the songs made in the studios at the time, were not precise like today. Thank you in advance for your help !
In the case where the bpm keeps changing quite a bit and you can't get it perfect, you might just want to focus on editing the beat grid on the parts of the track where you'll be either mixing into or out of, and leave the rest alone. This way you can maintain the correct bpm throughout the track.

I would guess that’s just not a good track to mix with. Since someone was either trying to be “creative” with the beat matching and tempo OR it is a mix someone recorded who didn’t know what they were doing. But if you really wanted to use it in a set, one option would be to just sync the grid up with a stable section of the track where you want to mix/transition to a new track.
I'm facing situations in which I adjust the grid to the first beat of the track, but at the drop the grid does not stick to the beat, although the bpm is correct. Any idea of what is happening? I know that producers usally dont stack the kick with other percussion element, even if both are meant to sound together (just a slight difference between the kick and the other percussion, pretty much unnoticeable when the track is being played alone). So usually the drop's transient for each track differs, and by using the SYNC button the tracks do not sound syncronized. I have ajusted the beatgrid of my tracks more than once: taking the transient of the drop beat as a reference, or using the peak of the drop's kick. Anyway, the problem insists: or the beatgrid is adjusted to the drop's kick, and the it's off the intro's kick, or the beatgrid is adjusted to the intro's kick and get's off in the drop's kick. Of course, that issue is perceived when mixing and trying to beatmatch. (I know that this is a great opportunity of refining the by ear beatmatching, and this issue can make this debate arise). Any clue on what it's happening? Anyone would like to share how they approach this? Thanks!
I'm having the same problems with my 90s old skool tracks on serato. My tracks keep flicking between different bpms which I making it a nightmare to mix any advice would be welcome. How did you get on with your tracks?

This. I have the same problem on quite a few tracks. They start off with the beatgrid correct, and by the time the track is halfway through the beat is completely off. Sometimes you can see it happen just within a few bars, yet the song sounds in time

Hey, there might be a slight chance your BPM is slightly off. Or it may not be an electronic beat which means it will never be perfect. Hope this helps.
Phil Harris It was because the song had a weird intro so it calculates that with it. I just ignored the intro and started on the very first beat of the SONG. Now if I really want the intro in my mix, I just start at the -1, or -2 or -3 and even if the intro doesn’t quite match the bpm, the first beat will hit at the right time if the BPMs of both of my songs are the same. What you could do is reset the whole grid then it will be right the whole song

Me too man. Training the ear to count beats is not easy for some people. This takes the guess work out and helps make things exact!

Try going to setup, Dj Preference, Sync Preferences. Then put check mark in "Snap to Beatgrid"

Click the CLEAE button until all grids are deleted. Enter the BPM, then set your first grid marker and the resr should automatically appear.

What if the track starts with a clap
Usually the clap will replace the kick/bass hit. Just set your grids on the clap.
