This group moves and breathes as one. Parris' choreography is so nuanced and stretches from end to end, moving and flowing like water. They are the perfect example of why the Fred Astaire model for filming (good dance filmographers and photographers know what this means) was created and endures. Every one of their performances is best filmed and seen from a slight distance. So much is missed during the close-ups, both in the individual dancer and in the group. God, I love The Royal Family!!!
absolutely! and i think you're so right when you say about the close-ups! i understand why they do it, but there's just so much going on at every corner of the stage. I don't doubt that an above camera angle (looking down at the floor) would also show us just how much is happening , while we're otherwise distracted by the front of stage performance
I think with the lighting the costumes need to be highlighted where its needed, for example the bum shaking, thats where either a highlight to see the vibration movement of the butt or the tights might need to be colour co-ordinated to pick up the highlight as the light flashes onto a specific area of that part of the body so that it emphasises the shaking of the booty rather than it disappear into the background due to too much darkness, so costume colour and organisation with the lights to highlight areas as they move in sync should be attended to.
