According to my grandma (who absolutely loves malamutes), the big floofer was doing the same thing with the wrapping paper as she would've done with the skin of a prey animal. Malamutes have very intense prey drives

They're one of the most challenging breeds out there, and I wouldn't recommend them to hardly anyone, but for anyone who is equipped to live with a Malamute, they're the best dog you could possibly have. There's nothing like em.

I think their one "advantage" over huskies if any in ease of care aspects is that they might be (marginally) less prone to being incorrigible escape artists, but don't quote me on that. 😅
I love the Malamute opening gifts - my first Husky Max did the same thing. Our current Husky gets all excited when he sees Christmas presents. Love both breeds. So confident and so damn cute. No-one can resist the Husky/Malamute handsomeness!

Can confirm as husky cross malamute owner but he looks more malamute except the blue eyes but yes they do forget how big they are 😂. My boy gets to 50kgs in the winter and still thinks he is a puppy 😂😂😂 . He lives with another husky and 2 labradors and loves super cold winters here in Australia where i am. They get all the goods in summer time to keep them cool too
Actually California, Puerto Rico and Texas have a LOT of them. Mine enjoy laying on the couch watching Pet TV or swimming in the kiddie swimming pool in the summer!
My malamute puppy loves sleeping on the ac vents in my house. I’m in a temperate climate so she does get a solid winter but summer time I’ve got her covered between the ac inside and a kiddie pool outside. Just gotta work your ass off to dry these dogs off when they’re wet lol. Double coat is no joke.

They LOOOOOOVE being outside! Even when it's 20°c inside with the ac on, mine still rather be outside when it's over 30°c outside. The colder it is outside, the more you see this breed be themself. Then when it's snowing out, that's like Christmas morning for a kid for these beatiful dogs. Yes mine lives outside in Winnipeg Manitoba year round. Bring her in to warm up? Nope, just for 5-10 minutes at a time for attention if she isn't dying from the heat by then, begging to be let outside again.
I could probably get a Malamute if I really tried to find one and keep up with its needs, but sadly I live in New Orleans, where it's a constant sauna :(

Two completely different breeds. Yes Malamutes have broader heads. They are larger and heavier. Mals were originally bred by the Innuit to haul heavy loads for them. Siberians are smaller and faster. Sort of like the difference between Clydedales and Thoroubred race horses. Mals never have blue eyes.
They're argumentative, loud and dramatic fluffy hair balls who has no self awareness of how big they truly are. I love this breed.

I live in south east asia and we have 2 malamutes in our home. They are healthy and kicking as long as you have ac on your whole house.
