Love this. I’m new to backyard hens and have basil and rosemary in my herb pots. Next year will add Thyme, parsley, mint, chamomile, oregano.

I have not found an herb my chickens don't like yet. They will even eat raw minced garlic like it's candy. Herbs are absolutely wonderful to have for chickens and they make healthier, happier chickens too.

Thanks for your question. We don't have a complete list, but some of the more common safe weeds include: Dandelion, Lamb's Quarter, Plantain, Chickweed, Clover, Nettles and Wild Violets.

Can chickens eat these raw? If I just let them go garden to eat?

Thanks for your question! Yes, the chickens can eat the herbs raw. If you want to keep your herbs growing for the summer, you may not want to let the chickens have free access to your herb garden. If the chickens have the chance, they may eat all of the herbs you have growing in one short visit to the herb garden.
