Apex Detail, yeah I don’t know about this product, I used it to remove collonite wax, fusso wax and Finish Kare wax with absolutely no luck whatsoever. I have it, used it couple of times, maybe for a retail customer it will remove old retail wax, but nothing on professional products. Kinda of a mystery to me to find a good use for it. The while abrasives idea kinda scares me, feels like it will mar or scratch soft clear coats.
I have used it on a few Cars including my own to clean and remove old protection before applying hybrid ceramic wax (really like this product). I am not a detailer. Just find it easy tot use.
great unbiased, factual review Apex.. pretty much found the same. the ability for it to strip seems proportional to how much you work it. I use it to strip wax a lot on test panels and I can pretty much totally remove a wax, but I have to use a sponge or a microfiber block foam and work it harder for longer. but it beats busting out the machine polisher to remove. I find it usefull stuff for that reason, but Im starting to use it less now on actually washing cars. I dont think you can utilise the abrasives during the cleaning process enough while dirts in the equation, and if you try to you will end up doing more damage to the car.. less of an issue I guess if your using it to prep. pretty much everything you said. great stuff :)
Totally agree ... I am not sure if you get the Purple Power Boat and RV over there... but it is much better suited for stripping wax, road film and generally prepping for a detail or correction. Cheers!
I love this wash plus. I've been using it for over a year, and still on the first bottle. I use it as a wash when I want to put on fresh wax, or when my car gets super filthy- like in the winter when all the salt, dirt, and road grime coats my entire car. It does a great job of removing things that normal car wash soap does not.
I used this yesterday with megs new ceramic spray and it looks brilliant. Ok there's swirls but it's done a great job on the shine things of life. Let's face it if you have swirls there's only 1 way to remove and that's machine polishing. Great vid
90% of the customers im going to do paint correction don't have any wax on their cars. I just rinse off the dirt with the power washer first use this, clay it and iron decontaminte it. I skip the pre wash phase and so far it works great for most of the public
O.K. traffic film remover on hammered cars before polishing it is. Great video... thanks for the insight. It's worked good for me although I haven't tested this extensively. 👍
Great to see this test, knowing it does not remove wax that did not even cure. I used this prior to correcting a hood, I used as a first step, then I used the PP V and B, then paint prep and clay. Maybe the snake is not a good idea. Used with a foamer or foam canon may work, I'll probably down grade this soap to a wheel and tire cleaning maintenance dedicated soap, more lubricity than PP V&B and just plain foamed APC, and no wax removal. Maybe you can test this soap on wheels and tires and make another video with the results if it's worth for the wheels.
I would only use it on the barrels. The abrasives may help remove tar and other crap that can get in there and latch on, but you wouldn't want to add hazing to the wheel face unnecessarily.
At the risk of sounding overly negative, the only thing I liked about this product was its container. Gave it to a guy to use on his work van. The PP wash does a great job on road film and if one needs a retail shampoo, IMO, Megs Gold Class is in another league, altogether. Lots of hype for this stuff for no reason that I can see.
Thank you for showing this. I have a bottle of this was going it use it on my dark blue car to clean the finish before I clayed and polished. After seeing it leave swirl marks I will not be using it. My plan was to wash the care normally then use the Meguiars to take off any road grime and maybe take off some minor swirls but not know. I don't want to have to take off more swirls when I polish. Thanks for these great videos.
So your result prove this stuff actually causes scratches not remove them, so glad I watched this vid. Cheers. Can you please post a link to the product you recommend for stripping sealants wax etc, pre protection wash. Cheers
If you wash your car like a detailer would and then use this soap from meguiars after u will probably never get any scratches at all. If u use this soap on s dirty car ofc it will make more scratches.
Brian a little credit costs as $ 20.00 .... depends on where you buy, I use it, but I must clarify that I worked only as mud cleaning, in my truck, but I must clarify that I use it in a practical way not as a test of elimination of damage to the painting ... it seemed good to me to repeat each case or depnde of the use that is given ... thanks for your video
I've used it in my prep routine before I wax my car. Not sure if it really helps but it doesn't scuff my car but it doesn't remove any scuff marks either
Apex Detail because you shown that itscratches.. I don't think ill use it again since the only method proven to work before applying protection is to polish with a DA. I've had issues with removing old protection reliably with just tfr that ill just fall back with a polish.
I would use purple power contact wash and then follow up with the car plus to try to strip everything but two storms later... there would be spots about a foot square with no protection.. its frustrating since I've been told that polishing wears down the clear coat.
Brian, I'm interested it the combo you use & mentioned, Purple Power & Angle Wax mixture. could you share your prep wash before you do paint correction with us, or is it a top secret ? Thank you
I love this product for full details. I use it every 4 months and leaves my white pain hard to stare at in the sun because how bright it leaves it. Perfect for stripping old wax and sealant. I won't use any other stripping soap. This right here is the Fucking Truth!
I hope you shook the bottle very well before using it. Just wondering since you said it hadn't been used in a long time and I didn't see you shake the bottle in the video. It's basically a fine polish with wash capabilities. I've found that it takes off wax much easier than what you showed, so makes me wonder if you didn't get those abrasives mixed in enough, not sure. Since this wash has fine abrasives, it's not a good idea to use it on any kind of plastic, or paint that is matte finish. I'm kinda surprised you didn't do your old product between finger abrasive test.
Hello sir very nice video. I think that this shoap is PERFECT for a daily driver wash, not a show room, new or very literaly polished car. But a daily driver witch is the 70+% of the public witch has already scratched car....he needs to rid of...scuffs, bugs, tar , traffic film and any other blemices for this i think it is great, and also myabe very good just before paint correction. i understand that it dint rid of the wax emmediatelly...BUT.....it was just so new so fresh the layer of the wax witch i think even the purple power could not removed it in the first pass maybe you needed also a paint prep to remove it,if it is been applyed some hours ago. i think in the real world witch you will try to remove wax and sealant wich is 1-2-3 or more months old it will have better results with the wash plus................. unfortunatelly again..........in europe it costs aprox 21+ usd and in my country it just imported for 29 usd......................overpriced
Apex Detail meguaris products are expencive in europe.compare to us and in my country even more....for excample.the.local inmporter has the meguaris ultimate fast finish for...aptox....36usd!!!!!!!..........but sonax profesional products maybe half prise compare to us
So what would be your recommendation? I used to not worry about it so much but being able to remove wax and sealants during the wash process before new applications would alleviate a step or two, and we all know time is money.
I used it once and hated it. Marred my finish just like in your video. On black, too, of course. I had to use duplicolor wax and grease remover to finish off my old sealant, and had to more polishing than expected. I do like the bottle, however. Great video!
I wouldn't use this on my black Jaguar XFR of course. But it works great on my silver Honda Pilot. The Wash + then a coat of Mothers CMX once a year and it's near perfection. Though, if the Pilot were black, I probably wouldn't use it.
in my arsenal I have Purple Power V&B, CG's Citrus Wash, Turtle wax's Max Power, CG's Clean Slate, and Wash Plus. I had to remove my Gyeon Wetcoat from my car and everything failed. PP failed, I tried an IPA wipe and it failed, tried CarPro erase and it failed. The only think that worked was Meguiar's wash plus. I get it, it is a bit scary to use a product that does scratch and can mar your paint. However, where I see this product being most useful is to correct little sections of paint after you have applied a ceramic coating and did not do a great prep job. Even after 9 hours of detailing, I miss spots here and there with my car being so large.
Thanks Brian I be to afraid to use that on my car it's new and I don't want to inflict swerls I always get the answer s I want after watching u Chanel thanks Brian
Apart from this, I also came across one by Turtle Wax; the stronger the dilution then it will strip waxes and sealants. There's no "mirco abrasives" as it were. I forgot the name of it unfortunately. Hopefully you have an idea which product I am describing. Any chance you have, or you might do a review on that in the future? Many thanks
Here's my experience of it. I used it yesterday for the first time. It's good... It's not amazing and it does take quite a bit to rinse it off. But that said you can pretty much do and entire car with two small applications to a damp mitt. It does drahé the dirt off and didn't seem to leave any scratches at all. It could do with a better scent to it though. Most Meguires smell really good, this doesn't much. Overall if you can get it at a good price it's great value. In the UK it's around £18...($24) that's way too much. I managed to get it for £9 ($12) which is a much more realistic price point. Had I paid full price I would have been very disappointed with it. It's time saving though so definitely worth having a go with it.
Not to get off subject but I noticed the Greenworks pressure washer in the background. Now that you have had it a few months how is it holding up? I am considering buying one. Thanks
Brian, love all your videos and have learned a lot from them. I have a question, I just bought a new set of wheels that are gloss black and I want to ceramic coat them. What product do you recommend I use? I am doing this myself and want something user friendly and also affordable. I was looking at gyeon rim. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance
Great test and I'm planing on using that soap. My question is do I wash or do an IPA after polish to put on my sealant? Or do I put sealant on to the polish? Thanks in advance.
Woulnt your best polish, that removes all of the scratches from the finest cars you work on scratch a V like in the video , if you used it and did the V pattern thing you did and did not use circular motions?
Just wanted to know if it is good for wax/sealant removal before I apply new product. Can you tell me why when spraying after you wiped down, you only did a light mist? While rinsing it off the panel looked very flat. Seems like anything will look like beading from a light mist.
The minor swirling is caused by the mitt. Wash+ has nothing to do. Wash+ ability to strip protection increase by the force applied. There is hardly a scenario that you must strip the protection you just apllied. So after some weeks I`m pretty sure it will remove it drastically.
Tipps from a fellow UA-camr who just started with English videos (we‘re a German channel): Wash Plus does definately need pressure to remove protective products. Washing lightly over the surface won‘t do much. If you apply pressure, however, it will also remove ceramic coatings! And regarding the scratches: do the same test again with just the wash mit and another shampoo, as I‘m 99% sure that the scratches come from the wash medium and not the shampoo. See: ua-cam.com/video/Icvk80qNx-8/v-deo.html
We have a store here in Delaware call Ollie's they're selling this stuff for$4. I have not used it yet depending on this video whether I will or trash it
I reaaally can`t get it. Waxes and sealants seem to degrade after a few weeks or months (even those to claim 6 months/ 1 year) even watching like madmen to use PH neutral shampoos and foam and no strong apc`s, while when we look for a strong shampoo to srip waxes everything fails to do so.
Thanks for the video on this. Saved my butt from buying it. So, what do you recommend that can get rid of wax and sealant take it back down to clear coat that is Safe and will not mar the paint? I was going to use this or Chemical guys Clean slate. I want to put some wax or sealant on my vehicle but I need to take it off again for PPF in a few weeks. Car is black.
Its a soap! 1 oz. Per 3 gallons of water in a bucket. It will remove bugs and dirt, exactly what meguiars intended it for. It was Not designed to removed wax at all.
Thank you for the video almost wasted 25 bucks on this stuff. Then again I was going by another youtubers video that swears by this stuff, I guess he lives in the Dallas area.
@@edubb2491 when doing a full detail , you want to clean your car right to the paint then polish then I gloss coat , also get any dirt in the wax off then rewax
Great video but I do have a problem with one part of it. The part where you got scuff marks (the 2nd time you used the V-pattern), you were scrubbing so hard! I think you could argue that you would have produced those kind of marks no matter what soap you used just because you're mashing the microfibers into the paint with so much force. You should have done a control with regular soap to see if it produced the same result. I realize you can't cover every single issue in a youtube video but just my $0.02.
Wow wow wow....... Hang on a min. I believe your conducting an unrealistic test my friend. Nobody is going to try and strip 10-15 min old fresh wax off with this stuff. That said let the wax sit outside for a week n weather under UV rays and gets some fall out on it. Than use this wash and I guarantee you there will be a significant difference than your test. Just my thought love the channel!
I dont understand why it would it scratch in the first place..what is this product? There is so much to waxing and washing..ridiculous..i jus wax..and spraywash no brush..no mitt dirt comes off... scratch free all the time! To much bs on the market..and even this video..confusing for a beginer..oh jis use dawn soap..lol..to remove wax! Whats the difference between sealing..coating..lol
Hi Brian, have you had the opportunity to use Poorboy’s World Strip Down Wax Stripper? I haven't used it myself yet. You are supposed to wash your car as usual, spray the stripper, and then wash again. It looks like it can also strip ceramic coatings. Check this video: ua-cam.com/video/6UlRhG88wR4/v-deo.html And more info here: www.autogeek.net/pb-strip-down.html It would be great if you could test it.
Wash Plus in my opinion a waste of time and it went straight into the bin. You are better off with a Fallout remover to remove embedded contamination and clay bar if the surface is still rough. Wow people please don’t use a Leaf blower as it has no filter and potentially peppers your customers paintwork.
I would not use this product.I like Meguiars but definitely wouldn't use this.Waste of time and scratches paint.Use a clay bar or clay pad with lubricant instead.
Those of you who use it ....share your experience!!

I have a bottle. I don't try to remove waxes with it. It does have its uses, much like Mario pointed out below in the comments.
_Interesting. I'm going to pick this one up. Always nice to see something new!_
Similar to a clay bar

Brian, do you use the Purple Power Boat and RV straight to prep the paint?
2 ounces in the foam lance...2 to 4 ounces in a contact wash.
I love this wash plus. I've been using it for over a year, and still on the first bottle. Used it once thus far and it stripped a few weeks old wax no problems what so ever. Very impressed with it as a decontamination shampoo.

Purple Power Boat and vehicle.👍
I want to try this PPVB. Should I just foam car up and pressure wash off or should I rub it in with wash mitt? or both?
Both.😃👍
Its a soap! 1 oz. Per 3 gallons of water in a bucket. It will remove bugs and dirt, exactly what meguiars intended it for. It was Not designed to removed wax at all.
@apex detail, Brian what is the background music track in the end? My Sun Conure is be-bopping to it :). Ok found it! Thx
Thank you for the video almost wasted 25 bucks on this stuff. Then again I was going by another youtubers video that swears by this stuff, I guess he lives in the Dallas area.
What do you use? You said you use other stuff .
Has anyone foamed a car with purple power vehicle and boat wash first and then followed up using the megs wash plus for the contact wash?
I’m wondering if it will level any high spots on a ceramic coating .
Well that answered my question lol
Highly doubtful 🙂
You're going to polish and wax/seal it anyways, so any defects will be removed
What is the amount of Purple power RV and the angel product ratios?
Good shampoo !!!
sorry I'm French, so I do not understand everything! so is the Wash Plus + really able to remove the very fine swirls?
No, according to the video.
It causes swirls. It ruined my paintwork and I'm fucking angry
great video. thanks a again
Richard Seem 👍🏻😄
What kind of blower is that you are using to dry?
An old Troy Built💪🏼
Wait a soap video without the Ik foamer? What channel is this? Haha
Thats right! I will have to re shoot!!! 😂😂
What would be an entry level coating?
I guess if you will do compound/polish, this soap is great for removing old wax, contaminents etc
I removes light polishing residue.
Except it couldn't even remove an uncured carnauba.
Well what is the bet way to remove wax before full detail ferax, optimum mdr, clay then polish
Why would unwanna remove wax...jus wax over the wax??
@@edubb2491 when doing a full detail , you want to clean your car right to the paint then polish then I gloss coat , also get any dirt in the wax off then rewax
@@danielbyrne5862 thanx
Thanks B! Was wondering about this also. I will stick with PP VandB wash
Same here my friend 👍🏻
Great video but I do have a problem with one part of it.
The part where you got scuff marks (the 2nd time you used the V-pattern), you were scrubbing so hard! I think you could argue that you would have produced those kind of marks no matter what soap you used just because you're mashing the microfibers into the paint with so much force. You should have done a control with regular soap to see if it produced the same result.
I realize you can't cover every single issue in a youtube video but just my $0.02.
It looks they stop produce Megs wash plus?
it does scratch unfortunately. I wanted to like it but only have use for it now before getting the machine polisher out. even then I may retired it
Wow wow wow....... Just my thought love the channel!
so what would be a good stripping soap that isnt crazy harsh?
good ol dawn!
whats your go to for wax removing?
50/50 mineral spirits
would prepsol work ?
Its supposed to be rubbed harder
I got it for $3.99 a bottle.
Try Zep truck and trailer wash for stripping.
Hi Brian, have you had the opportunity to use Poorboy’s World Strip Down Wax Stripper? I haven't used it myself yet. You are supposed to wash your car as usual, spray the stripper, and then wash again. It looks like it can also strip ceramic coatings.

It would be great if you could test it.
Found some for $4 at Ross
Hell, I just use Irish Spring.
This guy is a Meguiar's hater
I tested this a few months ago. No stunning results.
No.. it just sits lonely on a shelf here.
Wash Plus in my opinion a waste of time and it went straight into the bin. You are better off with a Fallout remover to remove embedded contamination and clay bar if the surface is still rough. Wow people please don’t use a Leaf blower as it has no filter and potentially peppers your customers paintwork.
if this is a polish looks like junk to me no beading of water at all. normal washing compound looks just as good as this junk.
I would not use this product.I like Meguiars but definitely wouldn't use this.Waste of time and scratches paint.Use a clay bar or clay pad with lubricant instead.
It's not a compound
I don't think it does anything
I got this for $4
Where? Do share.
bystolics this store called Ross
Nothing will fix these priblems ur bad mouthing meguairs
Another waste of money.thanx brian.
