Honestly it’s very difficult to say how the helldivers would realistically stack up in 40k since helldovers lacks a lot of lore and it’s unclear how powerful each helldiver is. In game they are really powerful since the player needs to have fun (think of it like the space marine from the boltgun game who is more comparable to a costodes) I see many comments which claim that the helldivers would steamroll certain factions or win major battles and other comments which claim that a single space marine chapter would make short work of the whole faction.
Although each hell diver is skilled I cannot say that a hell diver could take a space marine in a 1v1. You need to remember how agile and fast a marine is who would only need 2 bolter shots to realistically take down a helldiver.
Basically I would like you guys to remember that there is a difference between in-game and in-lore strength. Obviously the hell divers in game can take on massive and powerful enemies (it’s because the player needs to have fun) but to claim that in-lore hell divers could make short works of a necron tomb world makes no senese.
Imagine it like the hunters from halo who can be easily killed in game and the hunters in the lore which are 1000x more dangerous.
But keep the comments coming i love reading all of your guys’ takes and opinions

While I respect your opinion and won't try to change your mind I'm still going to point out that In 40k lore mortal humans like ciaphas cain can keep up with a world eater in a 1v1 and he would die instantly if he got hit once so if a helldiver needs two hits to kill they would be much better of than a commissar plus ceramite is only 3 times stronger than steel so a astartes breastplate is equivalent to 15 inches of steel which is better than most modern ship armor but not impossible for a helldiver to get through so a veteran of melevelon creek could reliably kill a astartes because there really good a killing heavily armored enemies that can kill them in one hit

a extremly im portant point to be made is, lore wise the iluminate are a extremly advanced species and super earth just took over their technoly, the tech exist, super earth has it, but IT ISNT necessary at the moment, helldivers are provided with just whats needed, not the best they have. thats why the armored mechs only got deployed once super earth noticed that the divers need a lot more firepower. so it would not take long for advanced weapons the start being deployed as the new enemys ahead are way stronger.

    • @rhett3185
      @rhett3185 Місяць тому +36

This is an extremely important point and one that makes lore sense too. The Super Earth government doesn’t want to over arm any of its ‘elite’ soldiers unless the threat calls for it, and they are both not against nor are they insufficient in backwards engineering high tech weapons and equipment that they reap off of their conquered foes to then gift to their army as they deem necessary.
This means that for every high tech enemy they face and (admittedly small chance) defeat they just get much more stronger for every foe they learn from.

  • @TheDemigans
    @TheDemigans Місяць тому +306

Damn people are so wrong about the Helldivers.
You think the CIS would survive? Then the Helldivers would kick *absolute ass*. The automatons would rip the CIS to shreds, and the Helldivers can beat the Automatons.
Lets put some numbers into perspective. We can assume the in-game events are relatively accurate, and 30.000 Super Destroyers with their Helldiver complement killing 100+ automatons per half hour (144.000.000 per day) plus their production capacity *can still lose the war*. This also puts a big doubt on the number of Helldivers mentioned here, as there’s more than a couple of million Helldivers dying on a single planet every few days, every day for highly contested planets. While currently unfrozen Helldivers might be that much, the total number available will be ludicrously big.
They can kill more Automatons per day than are deployed to places like Vraks and still lose a planet. Even if you scale it down and say “ah but automatons aren’t as tactically capable so they’d kill less of better factions” we could still assume 1.000.000 kills per day easily, for a lot less casualties.
Then tech: people seem to expect SE’s tech to not be that good. Yet this “low tech” can *tear off the limbs of a Rhino sized murder bug* . The fact that they can be compared to having a chance against Tyranid swarms already is a giant alarm bell saying “yo maybe they aren’t that low tech”. You might point to Super Destroyers but these are basically *insertion craft* . We know from the in-game snippets that the SEAF is tasked with building orbital defenses to slow down invasions of Automatons which can land enough troops that losing 144.000.000 per day plus production capacity isn’t enough to make them lose. We also know the SEAF can build networks to *gas entire planets* in the span of a month, in contested area’s. The Super Destroyers aren’t the mainstay of Super Earth, they are there just to do what is essentially a raid. I don’t know what the SEAF army has, but considering they can buss the SEAF around and build planetary wide defense measures and orbital defenses in a matter of weeks and designed to stop an onslaught of literally billions or Automatons or Terminids it can’t be small.
Then there is the method of deployment. Helldivers are rarely on the frontline, they attack the production, logistics, take out high value targets. Except that unlike 40K ships they can go from one star system and FTL directly into orbit of another planet, land their Helldivers, deal the damage and be gone in half an hour. With the extreme rarity of Space Marines they’ll likely rarely encounter them, and it’s likely the Helldivers will shut down the supply line of the Space Marines first before they actually encounter them. A logistics center like Vraks that supplies entire sectors would have Helldivers deployed into it before they even realize they should man the weapons and raise the shields. Forge Worlds would be assaulted on important area’s, likely a costly endeavor despite most of the enemies being whichever poor sods have to live and work there, servitors and whichever non-combattant Mechanicus personel with but a few Skitarii.
Agri worlds get gassed, logistics ruined, production gets killed or destroyed. Yes when Space Marines or the Astra Militarum deploys it’ll deal a lot of damage, but they all will be defeated off the battlefield.
Also lets put something straight: Helldivers wear full armor, a primary, secondary, a backpack with a LOT of extra ammo and a crew-served support weapon, then RUN and fire that puppy on the move. They can carry a full auto-canon and fire it, these guys would be the few who could take an Astartes Bolter and fire it without breaking their bones. These guys can take an armored Elephant slamming into them and get up to keep fighting. These are NOT your average humans.
The reason 40K might have a chance at keeping Super Earth down is purely the massive size.

Let's put it this way, in Guilliman's government, Super Earth has two gigantic bargaining chips that they can leverage in order to transition cleanly and painlessly to protection under the wider Imperium.
1.) The Galactic Wide Web, using quantum particles that could bypass any requirement to use the Warp for immediate communication in an effectively instant timeframe.
2.) The Alcubierre Drive, which enables starships to arrive at any destination across the galaxy near-instantaneously.
These two together would serve as assets so ludicrously valuable to the Imperium of Man that Guilliman and Terra would handwave any ideological gaps in order to gain access (and the ideological gaps are nearly negligible because of the Democratic Council and the doublethink their propaganda machine could disseminate to the wider Super Earth Public).
The GWW and Alcubierre Drive, when mass-produced and distributed, would effectively be the Imperial Webway project come to fruition without any interference from the Warp. The Imperium starts shoring up all of its crumbling fronts, because now their policy of Layered Proportional Defense no longer brings overwhelming force to bear within months or years, it brings overwhelming force to bear within THE HOUR.
From that point on, anything short of a fully-fledged Hive Fleet or Black Crusade would have to be launched in order to gain any ground against the Imperium. Anything smaller-scale would be buried beneath Navy and Imperial Guard assets by the end of the day.
Allowing Super Earth to thrive under Terra's sphere of influence is an unimaginable bargain in comparison, and they'd quite happily become a heavily-contributing component of Humanity's war machine.
They wouldn't just survive the 40K galaxy if the right people see the potential of bringing them into the fold.
    They'd be the Imperium's win-condition.

The biggest problem with trying to debate Super Earth in other Sci-Fi settings is the Helldivers are the only part of the Super Earth Armed Forced (SEAF) that we actually hear about. Trying to base the entire SEAF on just the Helldivers is like saying the entire US military is 700,000 green berets. The most we hear about ships other than the Super Destroyer, Eagle, and Pelican is a quote from one of the bridge crew "The average Helldiver mission costs almost as much as a Liberty Class cruiser." What is a Liberty Class cruiser? No idea. You're a Helldiver, and you Helldive. Airforce, navy, rank and file infantry isn't part of Helldiving, so it isn't talked about.
I also don't think that Super Earth is xenophobic. They're cartoonishly expansionist and hyper aggressive, but they also entered into a peace treaty with the Illuminate during Helldivers 1 (and broke the treaty when the Illuminate didn't want to share their planet busting weapons with the cartoonishly expansionist, hyper aggressive Super Earth.)
Super Earth also has warp drives that can travel from one end of the galaxy to the other in seconds and send information just as fast. Aside from the Imperium, who Super Earth has the best chance of entering peaceful negotiations with, any faction that tries to fight Super Earth would see hundreds of thousands of Super Destroyers warp into orbit, hurl bombs and lasers planet side, and then warp away. It also completely bypasses travelling the Warp, so the Eldar, Imperium, and Tau would be cheering for Managed Democracy just to get Alcubierre drives. Imagine the smile on Gulliman's face when he gets Super Earth Galactic Wide Web, can send orders across the Imperium, and get a response in seconds. Gulliman wants to go to a planet, and his personal Super Destroyer "Democracy by Any Other Name" has him planet side in minutes.
The Helldivers, I think, also have weapons that are close to or exceed the weapons that the Imperial Guard and even some Space Marine factions. For the bolter they have the Jar 5 Dominator and the Eruptor, which fire rocket propelled, explosive bullets. For the lasgun, the Helldivers have the Scythe and the Sickle, which fire a continuous beam and pulse lasers respectively. They can also call down shield generator backpacks, which should make them much more durable. This probably wouldn't help much in large scale battles like Imperial Guard firing blocks, or hundreds of thousands of orks charging, but Helldivers are sent behind enemy lines to target critical positions. The Helldivers aren't dangerous because they can form huge firing lines and spit lasers all day, they're dangerous because they landed behind you and you have less than an hour to stop them before they blow up all your stuff.

The fun thing about Helldrivers is how influential it's real-world players are to the lore of the game. Kinda like how every tabletop battle can represent a fight in the 41st millennium. Every time you play a mission in Helldivers 2 that has small but real impact to the story. As such the quality of the Helldivers themselves is represented by the players themselves.
The capabilities of individual Helldivers ranges from cringe noobs to battle-hardened one man armies who've made a science out of the efficiency of their loadouts. And you can bet your liber tea that the community could think up some optimal strats and loadouts against the various threats of 40K.

Helldivers operate against the clock. the helldivers are super earth's organized hit and run force. I think they would definitely pose atleast a unique threat to the 40k verse. super destroyers are very maneuverable compared to the 40k verse in both ftl and orbit with the standard super destroyer only sticking around for about 30 minutes before getting the hell out of there when the standard imperial ship takes hours to reposition. A helldiver destroyer could accomplish multiple attacks before an enemy ship even gets within weapons range at that point the destroyer could just warp out. it would be like if the eldar had a webway portal right into your hive spire. as a fighting force the helldivers dont hold a candle to 40k's equivalents but what they do have shear fucking unpredictability, your average average imperial noble is gonna be a lot more carefull when he learns that the helldivers just fucking appeared in orbit and landed on the governors front porch and shot him

A Hell Diver can canonically complete a Hell Diver difficulty mission solo. This includes facing off against numerous tanks, mechs, walkers, giant bile titans and more. A This alone in my opinion would scale them in skill to that of an Astartes if not greater, as most space marines are thier most effective as a unit. The Super Earth destroyers give an. Extremely huge advantage to the hell divers as somehow every single troop has the equivalency of thier own orbital weapons platform feature numerous nukes, missles, orbital cannons, etc. These weapons should be capable of cracking open most of the standard imperium vehicles if not through strength than through sheer volume. Now naval to naval battles I believe the imperium has the advantage unless we are given more context, though the hell divers do maintain galactic levels of control, so take with that information what you will.

We have cases of guys like Dante literally ripping apart a brood lord Tyranid with his bare hands and cases of spaces marines being killed by las gun fire that penetrated an eye ball. I can't recall the horus heresy novel but if I remember correctly there was a case of an astartes being killed by a normal spear being thrown through his eye(I personally think this is stupid but from what I'm aware eye shots are the one weakness of an astartes). Naturally in melee contest the astartes solos entirely. In a ranged battle the astartes definitely has the advantage in durability but I'd wager skill is roughly the same if only due to the fact we have seen space marines felled by guardsman, orks, Eldari and lesser warriors throughout the novels and table top. Physically and durability wise an astartes I think would probably be on par with an Autamoton hulk(since they are immune to all but the heaviest weapons in game). The biggest game change I think is the orbital weapons the Hell Diver can call down as well as the heavier weapons like the Quasar canon which should be able to pierce space marine ceramite since in 40k plasma and melta weapons have a similar effect.

Helldivers are Guardsmen who think they're Tempestus Scions, and perform like Kasarkin (being untrained, raw recruits).
They might not take a space marine solo, but they'll *try*, and that's probably the most dangerous part, because they don't consider or care that they'll come back. Combine with the extreme ordinance that SE supports each and every individual helldiver with, which each diver is entirely willing to call within a literal stone's throw. 40k monsters are tough, but I don't think many can handle 500kg bomb being sent directly to them specifically.
Divers are deployed in ways not dissimilar to Space Marines in terms of tactics and numbers per battlefield, and are extremely well equipped, having uniform equipment -- they have warpless FTL (within space they control) and each Destroyer can do what it pleases. They're like caltrops that move on their own.
They also have significant terraforming capability - in case of defeat, they literally just pack up and move Super Earth somewhere else. (And/or they might force citizens to cultivate supplies on inhospitable worlds.) Planets that are of no interest to anyone else might be worthwhile to Super Earth, giving them options.
We haven't seen the SE navy in action, but they can and do run orbital defence platforms, so they're not helpless in a naval battle. (Not to mention they might consider launching hellpods at enemy ships by just rolling over in space...)
Vs the 40k setting, I think they'll hold up a lot better than you give them credit for -- you're basically looking at a well equipped, borderline fanatical Cadia, except they don't divert their recruitment to other wars. And if Cadia beat back multiple black crusades while supporting half the imperium, Super Earth could take scalps, no sweat.
They are going up against the entire galaxy though - SE doctrine is incompatible with anything else thanks to the need to preserve the SE way of life. Everything can and must be classified as "Undemocratic" for the government to maintain control. So that's a tough, what, eight front war?

    Just hear me out.
    1. In Lore, 50HDs took Cyberstan. If 50 regular humans could capture a capital world what can 1m do?
    2. 4 HDs can take down multiple annihilator tanks, which probably scale to a Rogal Dorn or Baneblade tank. Which is honestly really impressive.
    3. All HDs have orbital support or a third weapon and support equipment. Hypothetically, if a Beserker is charging down 4 HDs he’s gonna smack him in the face with a rail gun or auto cannon and one or two shot him.
    4. There already titans in HD universe, the bile titan scales to existing Tyrannid titan class units in 40K. 2 shots with a spear, orbital rail guns, 500kg bombs, and orbital lasers take them down. Now imagine 10 HDs. There’s definitely enough orbital support there to bring down the strongest of titans.
I think Super Earth would fair a bit better than what you are proposing. Not enough to win the game, but to have a slice of the pie, yes.

If the military or high command feels threatened by the difference in technology, Super Earth is notorious for stealing weapons and technology and making it their own, which can include rhe process and technology of making those humongous burely men. It would especially be easy for Helldivers as well because of their INSTANT information link and FTL jump speed. It's not uncommon for fleets of Super Destroyers to jump and invade a planet with a tactical asset, take it, and then jump to the other side of the galaxy to a different target in less than an hour (depending on how long it takes to complete their target).

While I know this video is 3 weeks old at this point, the second galactic war has claimed 209 million helldiver's lives. I suspect that reaching 1 billion lost helldivers by its end will not be a stretch. Additionally, recent missions have had us save frozen personnel on rockets very similar to the ones we as helldivers enter after basic training, which makes me believe that Super Earth has been stockpiling helldivers in cryopods between the first and second galactic wars. There could even be multiple new *Super Earths* with frozen governments, soldiers, and workers just slumbering in the event of a catastrophic loss in the war, though I have no confirmation of this.
Given the unknown millions or billions of helldivers ready to sacrifice everything for democracy, I suspect that the amount and production capacity of super destroyers would be a more telling combat power estimate of the helldivers, with 500,000 FTL capable super destroyers being seen active at the same time.
I am also interested in what the other SEAF (super earth armed forces) can do, since as a helldiver we only see the hardest hit areas where SEAF has already fallen, dares not go, or lacks the time to reach.
I think Super Earth has both more resources and better chances than you are giving them, especially against orks, with the exception being tyranids because they have a lot more hive mind and a lot more dakka and a lot more orbital presence than terminids ever did. I also suspect that Super Earth would NOT be allied with the Imperium for any reason because just about everybody with any power is effectively a cyborg, with life extending implants and body replacements. Any political actions would quickly dissolve into a blood bath.

First of all, they are not dumb animals that just run down their prey in swarms. They are a thinking hivemind. Their bioforms are so much more diverse and dangerous than anything they've faced so far, that Super Earth would be woefully preprepared for what they have to offer. For example:
"Holy shit! Did that bug just shoot back at us with living ammunition?! OMG! WHY DO THEIR BIG BUGS ALSO HAVE BIG FUCK OFF GUNS?!?!"
And what are they gonna do against licters? Gene Stealers? Psykers?

A helldiver is a highly trained soldier, but they are in the end still base humans carrying fairly conventional weaponry, which would be good agasint guardsmen and such, but only a select few weapons would be truly effective agasint even basic space marines, like the railgun and Quasar cannon for example, but as each of them take several seconds to charge, thats more then enough for a SM to evade and get to cover, and they could dodge too
And as fun as it is to use, the patriot would get absolutely shit on by a dreadnought
The only real advantages the helldivers have are much faster and safer FTL drives, far better intersteller communication, and more quickly delivered supports, and vastly more willing to adopt alien tech

And no bases! All their troops come from their ships, including that they don't capture worlds, they eat them. And leave nothing but a lifeless plant with no atmosphere.

I got some questions I'd like to ask about:
    1. How might the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance of Stars Wars be able to handle a Chaos Cult uprising?
    2. How will Halo's Covenant Fair will against an Ork Waaaagh?
    3. Modern day Earth vs Chaos Cults, what could happen?

I love this video and agree with every point but the tau in the first game super earth declared war on the illuminate because of there advanced tech and there mastery over psychic powers out of fear of the illuminate eventually assimilating them I believe super earth would kill tau and eldar on sight because of that exact reason

Eldar would be less likely to get squashed by SE due to non traditional logistics line and presence on the map.

I think you vastly underestimate the crew counts for a SESD, as you upgrade the ship with more modules more crew get added, atm I have almost all the upgrades including the Decmoracy officer, Ship Master, and Head Engineer (The NPCs you can talk to) the amount of visible crew milling around in different areas is 20. That isn't including the probably dozens of cryogen-frozen hell divers waiting to be deployed and also Egale 1 and Pelican 1 pilots. Also, there is an in-the-work SEAF Trooper Stragagim to call in regular army troops in 5 man-fire teams (they sort of look like a cross between guardsmen and Halo marines but with blue armor) so SESD would also have a couple squads of regular troops too.
I also think Super-Earth would be able to resist Chaos in several ways. Considering SE citizens need to file a form to even have sex and the apparent regulation of entertainment Slanesh would have a hard time getting a foothold. Unlike the Imperium SE is much cleaner in general, from what we see of Super Earth itself and the colony outpost/habitats Nurgle would probably have a hard time finding squalor. Also due to how Gestapo like the citizens are, an existing lore example of a father turning his own son over to authorities for treason I feel like it any chaos influence would probably be easily snuffed out as the person being effected would get reported to their local democracy officer very quickly.

There are several things in play here. 1. Will they comply with the Imperium? If no, congrats, Super Earth gets virus bombed to the Warp and back. If yes, then 2. How would they fair against the galaxy?
I could see Chaos having a field day, Helldivers shitting themselves at the Nercons, getting angry at the Eldear, fighting the Tau on relatively even footing, and the Tyranids being a complete death sentence. Sure, Helldivers are competent, extremely so, but they're not outcompeting the Hive Mind and its endless swarms and hordes.
Also, melee-wise, don't really see Helldivers doing well against anything not human. Chaos marines, especially Angron's kids, would mop them into a paste if they make the distance. If they don't, then there's the problem that is anything psychic in nature. Helldivers aren't immune to having their insides set to 500 degrees C, and daemons are fucking hardy and can hold grugdes.
The Death Guard cause them to rot just by walking by, Emperor Children [censored by order of the Inqusition] and are monster duelists, Thousand Sons are bullshit-level pyskers, Iron Warriors outclass Helldivers in every way, and the Black Legion is a mix of all that with daemons and daemon engines.
Overall, Super Earth would be a welcome addition to the Imperium, but boy do they have to fight to stay there.

Just don't let Super Earth ever get their hands on a undetonated virus bomb, they'd likely reverse engineer drop one on every imperium planet without question after they determine the imperium cannot comply with them. The Virus effect are nothing hard labor can't undo over time to potential resourcable worlds and the SE navy and industrial might is probably big enough to get those bombs delivered to most worlds well before the news that the bomb got stolen.
