These songs were written by young, aspiring artists. Not bands purchased by label companies fed material from other writers. Editted a typo but reflect upon corporate driven media (maximizing profits; bands with good appeal get hired whereas other talent gets cast aside if the band members look like near flesh-skinned clowns) versus actual art (flesh-skinned clowns making music for fun).

    Dwellin on the past

In 1994, I got out of the Navy. I stayed in Jacksonville, Fl for a few more months before coming home. At some point, that year, I was at Jacksonville Beach and wandered into this makeshift club. It was a huge tent with a lot of music and craziness. I guess I had a lot of fun, because I don't remember the details...lots of dancing, jumping around, drinking, girls, chaos.
It turns out this was a going-away party being thrown by some Jacksonville band who had just signed with a major label. I had no idea who this band was, but, yeah, it was Limp Bizkit.

People don't know the true, tragic story behind this song. When Limp Bizkit was first coming up they had one fan...a young wheelchair-bound deaf child known affectionately as "Nookie." Nookie couldn't hear their music, but he loved the color red and from the moment he saw LB at the Battle of the Bands and Fred was rockin that red cap, it was love at first sight. Nookie became a fixture around the studio when they were recording their first demo, and it was Nookie who signed to Fred that he should slip that demo to the guys in Korn. Nookie was born with a heart defect...which is where this gets tragic. After the band's first album blew up on the strength of their George Michael cover "Faith", Fred and the boys decided to get Nookie cochlear implants. The implants were a success but tragically it enabled him to hear the band's music for the first time. Nookie became despondent and he was found dead in his room the following morning. He was 13 years old. Some say he died because of his birth defect, but others think he was simply heartbroken to realize the band that had given his tough life meaning was...well, you've heard Limp Bizkit. To honor their fallen friend, the band worked feverishly on a tribute to him...this song right here. The only thing is...Fred Durst would get emotional during the chorus, which was originally about how they did it all for nookie, and how he would take a cookie, and stick it in a- jar. He could never get those last words out- I forgot to mention, Nookie got his nickname because his name was Nathan but he was mad obsessed with Oreo cookies. He would carry around a cookie jar in his lap and people would put Oreos in said jar...so yeah, you can see why Fred had trouble there. They almost ditched the song, but that baseline was just TOO PHAT so instead Fred made all the lyrics about, like, a ho or some shit. So yeah, next time you're singing about sticking cookies in a YEAH please take some time out and remember the kid without whom this band woulda never got their demo to Korn...Nathaniel "Nookie" Jackson.

@@genericfirstnamegenericlas6490 Pieced together this account from various ancient UseNet postings, early interviews in local Florida periodicals, and I personally conducted interviews with at least two of LB drummer John Otto's former intimate partners. I know about more than just Nookie...for instance, did you know Fred Durst would only listen to West Coast jazz like Chet Baker while on the tour bus, to the chagrin of his bandmates? Or that the game of "Limp Bizkit" they played at house party prior to settling on a name cost them their original guitarist when he refused to eat said "limp bizkit" but then Wes just wandered in, picked it up off the floor and chowed down and found himself a member of the Bizkit? Or that Fred wrote the song "Counterfeit" in one angry afternoon after tattooing Head from Korn and Head tipped him with counterfeit hundreds and Fred almost wound up spending a night in jail for passing said counterfeit bills?

It took me 25 years to realize that he is not doing it for the nookie so they can take the cookie and stick it. It's "So, you can take that cookie"
The song makes way more sense now.
