Hi I'm from Birmingham England it's half 4 in the afternoon I'm meant to be starting dinner but hey look who just popped up 😂😂😂 sod dinner the kids can wait it's rainy and the house is warm and cozy so it's perfect mystery crochet time ❤
It's a pretty grim English day isn't it! Love these mystery videos.
Just finished dinner at 5:15pm here in Wales, it's finally stopped raining here. So now I can finish watching this wonderful pattern translating by Corinna. 🌧☁ ❤ from🐳
It's snowing here in New England. Sounds like Mystery Crochet watching weather all around!
Raining on the south coast, Portsmouth, too ☔️
Chucking it down in Nottinghamshire. Vintage Crochet o'clock time.
Just a tip: your blocking board has a lovely grid, and your project has 8 corners. Line the middle of your project up with where a horizontal and vertical intersect. Then pin 4 of the corners to the vertical and horizontal lines, using the grid to pin them out to the same distance from the centre. Then pin the other four corners evenly between the vertical and horizontal ones.
It’s really pretty! I think you finished the second round wrong, I think you were meant to connect to the SC then slip over to the third chain (I didn’t realize until you finished the third round, so no shade! I would have done the same. And it’s barely noticeable in the finished product.)
It’s hard to keep the terms straight, isn’t it? That “long treble” is way more ambiguous than it seems like it should be.
Sharon here....Yes I caught that as well.
Yes. Noticed it right off. But being recorded and doing it as a straight up mystery without context makes it so much harder to figure out, I'm sure! No shade thrown at all.
Also, does 4th round say DC? Double crochet, not single crochet.
@@BabyGirl219852 Is the pattern written in UK terms or US?
Oh what a cute pattern :) Doilies are some of my fave things to crochet.
Also i was extremely curious so i Googled what a 'Tidy' was in the 1800s and it is basically a piece of material that protects furniture.
Thank you sharing info about the "Tidy." 😊
So really a doily but a fancier name 😂
you know I disliike the pattern but something to do with that 10 thread. boy glas this gal is around for the pattern interpretation . I am very weak with wrritten instruc
Yep, *star* 😂😂😂😂, you’re going to think about that every time you hear that word forever, now ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️…and so will your loyal and faithful followers - it’s a nice thing. ❤❤❤
At 5:53 I think they ment you slipstitch from the first ch of the seven up to the third ch of the seven. That way you create a similar arch like the others. Hope you undestand what mean. I so much enjoy these videos!
So I just looked up A Tidy and found it was similat to an antimacassar. Seriously the list of to-do patterns keeps on growing. ❤ Thankyou for your hard work. I love your videos. 🇬🇧
Hi Corinna- I love when you use such tiny hooks. I don’t own any hooks that small anymore. My eyes! (Even with my glasses)
This color is such a beautiful choice and this mystery pattern turned out perfectly. Thanks for sharing another great video. Mystery patterns are my fav.
Beautiful Medallion.
Lovely work. I believe where you worked a DC should have been a long DC or ext DC. If you notice the explanation of “long” it says “long treble”, making that a long double in US terms. Which is also why it asks for a 4ch to count as your first long in the next row. 😉12:31
I like to do these doilies and make them into shawls.🥰 I am going to save this video for later.
I just had to tell you (I wish I could show you!) I used your sunflower shawl design and made it with rainbow then used a very light gray for the fillet edge and a light blue fringe. I’m a Washington girl and it’s always raining and cloudy but there’s always rainbows!❤ thank you for your inspiration!
This turned out beautifully - awesome job figuring it out! That'll go great in your scrapbook.
Beautiful. Nailed it 👏👏 I see spider 🕷 web. Appreciate you showing both DC and TC. Putting in the extra work👏👏… 😮go get you some tidy 🤣😮
What a beautiful doily!
Beautiful work...I had to google the noun "tidy" and found this: A tabletop container for pens and stationery.
A cover, often of tatting, drawn work, or other ornamental work, for the back of a chair, the arms of a sofa, etc.
(dated) A child's pinafore. I wonder which one it is? 🙃
I wondered if it's a modern "motif". Wish my Nani was still here -she used to crochet doilies 😊(maternal grandmother). She could tell us
Why am I so happy seeing you fiddel again? 😁 well, I guess I just do love it. It is really great that you have a sponsor (or supporter, partner or how ever you will call it). It is really great seeing your channel grow. 💖
Can a long with 4 chains mean doing a long dc ( yarn ower, pull trough one loop instat of two) ?
Adorable. Way fun. Thanks love.
Like it, it's a winner, and I will give it a try. 😊
Such a pretty purple! I think it's lovely! Hugs
So cute! Mystery patterns are how I relax while carding and spinning. I don't have to follow closely, stopping to work the patterns. I can just watch and listen and enjoy. 😊
This very cool. Your channel concept is unique and beautiful. ❤
You did such a good job on this one. I had to go look up what a Victorian Tidy was. Seems like it was a precursor of the word doily. That was a fun one. Thanks!
Very pretty little tidy! You nailed yet another mystery pattern. Really miss thread crochet, especially doilies! Thank you for another excellent and entertaining tutorial!
Thank you! 😊 I always look forward to your encouraging words :)
This is so off topic but my hubby and I were watching master chef junior season 8 tonight… there’s a little girl Ivy that looks like you as a tiny little chef! Hahaha Adorable like you!
Good job , l really like watching you figure out those old patterns. I can't even read modern-day ones . You have my admiration!
Nailed it!
I love these mystery vintage crochet videos ❤
Very pretty. 👍👍❤️
Another awesome amazing tutorial.
Hi from Denmark. It’s 9 in the evening here. Just wanted you to know that I absolutely love your videos ❤️ and you have the most beautiful voice in the world 😍 take Care and I am looking forward to your next video
Hi from Charlotte
Thank you so much!!
I’d love to see more patterns from the 60’s-80’s too.
Super cute. I still think you should frame them x well done ❤❤
I’ve thought of crocheting doily type motifs like this and adding them here and there to my patchwork skirts ❤️ I really love your videos, thank you!
Note: I should start a scrapbook too!
I saw a picture of someone using them on their cat-scratched furniture - like all down the back edge of one of their recliners. Turned out SO pretty!
"Back in the day" there was a craze of using these pieces as appliques on totes, jackets, jeans, tees, pillows, and anything else you could think of. Most people were buying the cheap pre-made ones and tea-staining them to look old. Sometimes scrunching them up to make "flowers" with button centers, layering them to make a sort of patchwork for curtains and so forth. I even made a swinsuit coverup by pieceing together a bunch of "test" pieces I had lying around, and it turned out so cute my daughter stole it! We didn't have cell phones or little cameras on us all the time back then, so I don't have any photos, but I bet I sold hundreds of these items to workmates and at yard sales. People would see mine, ask if I'd make them one too, and it became almost a cottage business for me! Seems like this sort of style is coming back now.
Love your mystery pattern videos. BTW the lilac color is gorgeous.
I love this series!
hiya corinna! cute ~ you did very well. how is your doily curtain coming along? enjoy your week!
Made this one with you! But mine was wavy enough allready so sticked with with the dc's. Nice little pattern! Not sure what to do with it... on to the next one! thank you again!
That was a fun one! Beautiful color thread! Good job!!
Very pretty. Love doilies and working with crochet threads.
Cute! and your nails are super pretty!😍
Well done!
Beautiful 😊
Just an FYI a tidy is a piece that goes on the backs and arms of a chair to protect them from daily grime.
Hurray!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
NICE!!❤
i crocheted along with you before i knew what it was going to look like, its a little wonky but i like it ^^
i might use this as a candle stick doily or a little decoration but it was really cool ^^
I seem to recall from one of your other videos that a long treble was 'yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 1(one, typing it out to show its not a typo), yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, pull through 2". So its something between a UK treble and a US treble
That's correct, I also mentioned in that video that the term " Long" over the last 200 years has 3 different definitions , a DC, a HDC and the 1 you described
@@justvintagecrochet this pattern said long treble
@@thelibraryismyhappyplace1618 yes, there are a lot of uses for long in antique patterns, different authors, different definitions, I got it correct 👍
Lovely little project!
It's 9pm here I Burlington, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 love this Chanel I'm loving ❤️ the mystery 😊😊❤
👏👍 good job 😊
Thank you! 😃
I believe that a Long is an Extended Double Crochet as in UK terms “a long treble”. .
What a cool idea and a fun way to challenge yourself!! Beautiful work ❤
It came out gorgeous! Going to have to try this pattern. I like it a lot. Good job with the mystery!
So cute !! Again you did it !! Thanks for another mystery video 📸📸📸 ❤it !!
Such a pretty lavender.
You nailed this one❤very pretty Corrina ❤❤❤🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing
nice
Hello Corrina, this little Tidy is cute, good job on The crocheting of it. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you! 😊
Amazing, kudos to you, and I love that lavender colour too.
Love your channel! How do you dishes without popping off those beautiful nails?
That's sweet. Well done!
It looks like you have two #13.
Very nice!😊
Great job!
👏 excellent 👍
Very pretty and versatil.
Cute.
Very pretty! Isnt a tidy a diaper? 😊
💟
Yeah...the star thing was a trip...lol. I was screaming at the screen and laughing. Sorry😉
Love it! What do you mean "when it dries"?
Corrina has wetted the crochet to ‘block’ it, stretching it into shape while it’s wet. It will dry while pinned onto the foam board, then it should keep that shape when dry.
I think you should try this in US terms to see what happens 😁
Just a quick question - why do you call a UK Single Crochet a slip stitch? When there are slip stitches in both terms, and a UK Single is a US Double? UK Double is US Treble etc….thanks :) 11:07
I wondered about that as well.
Hey. Looking for a Santa hat pattern! Any recommendations.
Santa hat in February lol your planning ahead girl 😂
@@berylgilligan9287 Actually behind.
Beautuful. But would Like it bicger
What does “for tidy” mean?
You seem to suffer in these old patterns from their lack of commas.
“… making, in all, 3 long loops.”
Think you did the last past of row 2 wrong. You should have slip stitched to where row 3 starts, not join the last chain of row 2 to the top of the 1st chain loop.
