Hey, thanks for all the positive comments, folks! Means a lot to me that all you people are getting something good out of this little experiment of mine. I’ll try and keep ‘em coming once a week.
Hello, Trevor! I watched this episode with my boyfriend. He was very engrossed in seeing Sgt. Garrick and the town get wiped off the face of the map, forever. We both can't wait to see the future of the story as time continues.
That was a LOT more entertaining than watching a bunch of people sit around and discuss which minor action their character is going to take. Nicely done.
I've always had a little problem watching big group D&D games personally, in that there's always just too much going on and it usually ends up giving me the sensation of "feeling left out of the friend group", but this series has allowed me to be a lot more immersed and feel like I'm actually a part of something, that I'm really involved with the story even if I'm only just watching. Great stuff, honestly.
Man, doubling back to this first episode - it really shows the beauty of solo play that this whole thing could've gone a COMPLETELY different direction had Simon simply tried the social approach to free Vilborg! A totally different season, right there.
You know I just finished binge watching the entire series for the first time, and when I first saw this comment I was like. “Haha funny comment” But now… I’ve realized that you were right all along.
Hello, Trevor! I am Tarcisio , from Brazil. I have a channel here about solo RPG (in portuguese language) , and I can say your channel is one of the most wonderfull things I have seen related to this way of playing rpgs! A wonderful video indeed! Here in Brazil we have a small but very engaged and dedicated solo rpg community, and we will be always watching your videos. Thank you very much!
Tarcisio, boa noite. I am a Colombian player who is considering solo rpg. I can probably understand the Portugese. Where can i find actual solo play in Portugese?
@@rolanejo8512 Hola! Puedes ver mi canal! Tengo más de 500 videos de RPG solo y literalmente cientos de gameplays Simplemente escribe "Tarcísio Lucas" (el nombre del canal) en UA-cam.
That was a successful play with all the actions and explanation done. Very well done and I appreciate the voice acting very much. Thank you very much for this videos keep on doing it.
When I put this on I didn't expect to find a favorite new series. This was awesome! I can't wait to catch the further adventures, WHAT AN OPENING--it's crazy how so many things going wrong can suddenly raise the stakes, emotionally
I’m so into this concept now. I don’t have a gaming group but I have tons of RPG books. I want to play and just picked up Mythic. Thanks for posting. I’m excited to get started playing solo.
Love your content dude. You are such an engaging and intelligent personality. Like other comments have said, this is way more interesting than watching other nerdy-assed voice actors take hours to do anything interesting. Good work fella.
That piece about logic and interpretation making rolling unnecessary is so important when running games. Based on this episode I bought the mythic game generator. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out. There are so many games that I've run that never really went anywhere. I built NPCs that I was excited to use with the PCs but never got to I think this solo system will allow some of them to have their own stories.
I like what you said about logic and interpretation obviating the need for the emulator. I think the minis actually helped in this case as well as they allow you to better visualize the flow of the action. I've never used minis in my solo play, but I think I may start. Thanks for teaching me something!
Fantastic production values, great narration and presentation, surprisingly engaging (for a one-person show) and (perhaps predictably) excellent voice work. Get yer arses in gear and watch this - looking forward to episode two!!
Absolutely awesome! I have watched other solo rpg videos and the people doing them have always filmed the entire thing with the camera pointed at the table. Doing it with the camera pointed at the player is so much more engaging with being able to see the player's reactions and facial expressions to what is going on. Really enjoyable!
just recently i bought mythic, and have used this particular mm&d/episode 1 to follow along. this has helped me immensely in creating my own solo rpg. i’ll be using it with “the fantasy trip” that i’ve played for many years. thanks :-)
Well, there was 30 min I should have been working... but instead I was enjoying this. No regrets. Well worth the watch and impressive for a first episode. I look forward to seeing your story develop... as long as it doesn't cut into the RL table time.
I just found this series. This is really done well. I've been getting into solo play using Mork Borg and it's interesting to see what Mythic GM can do differently. And Trevor is a joy to watch!!
I've tried to get into this a couple of times as easy engaged listening...but honestly as an adult man, tucking up in bed with my bedtime story about Simon is the best. All the best Mr Devall xox
Vilborg!!!! Fantastic Trevor- Really cool to see the possibilities of one person gaming, enough production to support the game, but not overwhelm it and, as always, fantastic character work. Looking forward to the next one!
I just finished episode 17 and decided to come back to this episode for fun. It's really fun to refresh my memory on how it all began. None of us, including Trevor, had any idea where this would all end up. Thanks for doing this Trevor! I have decided to dive into my own solo play and more play with my sons thanks in part to these videos.
❤❤❤ this is so educating. Creatively entertaining and uplifting. Loads of ideas are coming from your channel :) Please keep producing quality material. I'd love to see more from your podcast.
Posting this on Episode 1 to encourage anyone who finds this and may be wondering if it is worth their time to commit to 22 episodes… YES! ABSOLUTELY! I know I’m a few years late, only just found this a couple weeks ago. I listened to an episode or two a day and just finished this morning. I wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments already posted: Fantastic story-telling, great voice acting, camera work, editing, system/rules expertise… and very nicely packaged in 30 minute or so episodes. PS especially agree with another post saying this is more entertaining than watching a group of people. Much more efficient, much more story in a short time, and definitely more fun! Very excited to start listening to Season 2!
Someone --- certainly not myself -- recommended "Me, Myself, and Die." I am so appreciative of that other person. However, I am most grateful to you, Trevor! This is really marvelous! I am so enjoying every episode! You got game, man! 👍
Basically same age and length of RPG gaming here, Trevor. Just seeing you start the concept made me happy, after the last two years sort circuited my groups' play habits. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Hi Trevor! I have watched every video you have shared. I'm following the channel since season 1! Started rewatching season 1 now because I'm crazy about your content. It would be so cool to see a mini prequel with Simon and Vilborg that took them to this moment. Like a nice change of pace from in between seasons. After season 4 is over.
Started rewatching these to get a handle on Savage Worlds as I am using it now for my solo campaigns. It is jarring how quickly it became apparent that "Simon Sucks". 😞
Starting this after seeing Trevor on a podcast with ACG. Wow this is amazing I’m hooked! Can’t wait to blast through season 1 and 2 this week! This man is incredibly entertaining!
Man, that was awesome! Just loved to see it, and it engaged me in a way I have never felt watching these sort of entertainment! Eager to watch the rest!
This video was great! I love your multi-camera set-up, the way you interact with the audience, the in-video text coming up to give supplemental rule info, and being able to see the combat minis. Everything about your video is just absolutely wonderful from top to bottom! Please keep it up!
This is so good. I recently started playing ironsworn and am new to solo rpg, any future posts I see on forums about people struggling with solo rpg play im sending them to these videos.
You are awesome and an inspiration! I’m going to try and run a game using Mythic GME and Dungeon World with my wife and daughter today. I wanted to see how it was done and you were my first choice. Again, awesome! Thank you.
thank you for this. I shared ti with some RPG friends. It's helping me through the Quarantine! I hope you're making more of these. thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ve been with you from the beginning and decided to go back to the beginning and watch the first episode again after three series. It’s interesting to see how you have improved technically over the years and added extra equipment. Even so this is a great watch and demonstrates the tools admirably.
Just finished this season and I'm immediately coming back around again for a rewatch because I enjoyed it so much. I tried solo rpging a few years ago and I was disappointed because I felt like I couldn't accomplish a good roleplay aspect all on my own. Came across this channel a few weeks ago and I'm inspired! I have so many new ideas for how to make solo gaming more entertaining for me. (And a bunch of new supplements to make it easier lol) Many thanks to you, Trevor for the creative boost and a story that had me literally screaming out loud with excitement at times. Super excited to start on this journey all over again!
Hey, thanks for all the positive comments, folks! Means a lot to me that all you people are getting something good out of this little experiment of mine. I’ll try and keep ‘em coming once a week.
It’s from the Mythic GM Emulator.
Only just found this series I'm trying to learn to play dnd 5e solo and this is going to be a huge help, thankyou sir
Thank you so much for this. I'm new into solo rpging and was overwhelmed with Mythic. Somehow you have made it feel less daunting.
Great. Now I have to subscribe.
Watching through this series again in anticipation of season 4!
And constantly go off topic and ramble.
Mostly in jokes.
"Jokes"
This episode is a great example of how things going “so wrong” in the beginning can make for an epic story!
My problem with group RPGs on UA-cam is they drag on for hours without any real action. Solo seems much more focused.
@@shaneintheuk2026 Okay, you clearly don't actually play TRPGs, so I have to ask, why are you interested in watching other people playing them?
So, do you need to play TTRPGs in order to enjoy and watch other people playing them? @@mattpace1026
If this doesn't hook you into Savage Worlds or solo-style RPGs ... not sure what will! Wow! This is top shelf quality! Give it a watch! :)
Man, doubling back to this first episode - it really shows the beauty of solo play that this whole thing could've gone a COMPLETELY different direction had Simon simply tried the social approach to free Vilborg! A totally different season, right there.

But now… I’ve realized that you were right all along.
within 20 minutes or less I was so attached to Wilborg that I was actually kinda sad when he died ;-;
SPOILERS 😉
This was so good, I loved it!
This was a really epic beginning!
Wonderful to go back to the beginning again
I’m 10 mins deep into this and already I’m hooked. Such good editing and the guy is great. Better than most group play through vids
The guy says thanks :)

I’m here from your interview with Professor DM and your new game “The Broken Empires” on KS. Now an instant fan and sub!
One of the most entertaining shows I have ever watched. Funny and made me see how soloable RPGs can be!! I'm inspired
OMG, your show is everything I've ever wanted to see as part of the Solo RPG community! Thank you, and subscribed!
I'm watching this in the break room at work and everyone looks at me as I chuckle at the dramatic cry for Vilborg.
Ooo I didn't even know that Mythic GM Emulator was a thing! very cool.
I just finished watching S3 last night and I'm back here for some nostalgia. Simon's infamous luck really showed from the very beginning huh.
This is great and probably the best example of the GM Emulator I've seen. Thank you for doing this and will certainly watch more. Great job!

Coming back to relive the legend from the beginning
Watching season 1 again, simply my favorite rpg show !

I'm impressed! I could've never have imagined how a solo game could be this fun. Great show!
Watched through the second season, but wanted to come back and watch again where it all began with Simon. Love the stuff Trevor!
And this is what we call adhd at its most entertaining. I like the randomness.
I'm sitting around waiting for season 3 and decided to go back to where it all started. And I'm happy I did 😊
This is one of the best rpg podcasts

is this the legendary "simon sucks" i kept hearing about?

Holy crap, I'm so hurt for Simon, right now. Poor Wilborg!
Vilborg!!!! Fantastic Trevor- Really cool to see the possibilities of one person gaming, enough production to support the game, but not overwhelm it and, as always, fantastic character work. Looking forward to the next one!
Wow, this was super intense and inspiring. Gave me the feels, too. Well done!
Amazing what can happen alone, with imagination and motivation. Bravo!
What an absolutely emotionally devastating start, but I'm already completely hooked. Great show!
