First thing, forgot that the curtains were blue in that scene. Need to rewatch the film again. I would have bet my life on them being red originally. And that haze machine is really handy. Had no idea it existed because a lot of times one uses a fog machine that you later have to fan out a bit in order to get the haze look which takes away time and an assistant needed also to help out. Thanks for showing also all the steps in this setup, I think the back light from overhead gelled was a great touch. Wouldn't have occurred to me that. You're the best Lindsay.
Truly a wonderful outcome. However, to achieve this, it requires everything that Lindsay possesses: passion, knowledge, technique, experience, and equipment. Additionally, I believe I must highlight the work of a tremendous artist, Lindsay, who first takes the effort to create the final result in her mind and then achieves three-dimensionality in a two-dimensional medium. The use of light and shadow, combined with the colors and filters used, truly achieves the photographer's desired goal. Wonderful work in painting with light and playing with shapes and lines to obtain this great result. Thank you very much for sharing your work and taking us on the journey of its creation. There aren't many photographers like her left.
You just never fail to amaze me in the most positive way, Lindsay! So easy to follow how you think and how you approach it. Pretty clear you have the entire vision of what you want achieve, and then you nail it. Minxie is also a work of art, and lends herself extremely well to how you light up people to bring out all those extra dimensions and subtleties. Chef's kiss to you both for what you created here! 🤌
The set, the lights, the model, and how you manage to put everything together for a thrilling final shot are extraordinary. You are simply extraordinary
I've been following you for ten years and even met you in Chicago at a workshop. I'm just so happy to see you thriving and continuing offering amazing education.
Not as glamorous as Minxie, but I just shot a puppeteer and his puppets, using red curtains as stage curtains, as well. Had to use a 10-degree and 30-degree grids to create the effect of a spot shining them, though. Gonna have get an optical spot at some point. Need to try this set up when I do.
I was booked to do a photoshoot for two burlesque performers on a stage with curtains a couple of weeks ago, and it's happening today! This video could not have dropped at a better time 😍 Thank you Lindsay
Gorgeous, as usual. One question if I may, if you don't have the Westcott optical modifier can you use either a snoot or a standard reflector with a grid? Thank you
LOVEEEE this entire video - You've inpsired me definitely going to attempt this setup and tag you! One technical question regarding the NanLite Projection - What would the difference between a 19 Degree Lens and a 36 Degree lens produce?
these images & set turned out beautiful!! 😍 just out of curiosity, about what size working space was that set up?? i know your studio is fairly large or appears to be, high ceilings being a blessing as well 🙌🏼👌🏼 but i would really love to know the approx distance your lights optical snoot, the fill and you were at to have this all come together - if you don’t mind sharing 🙏🏼 😀
Hi there! There are many great places you can find my measurements: my lighting recipe guide, my learn+ monthly membership platform, and (of course) my workshops! My space here was 18ft tall, probably 12ft wide, 17ft deep or so
In theory, couldn't you use your optical spot on a 400 W strobe for the same effect as the nanlite projection? I'm doing a Burlisque style shoot soon and that was going to be my plan.
Not really sure, yo might want to check with whatever manufacturer you decide to go with. I haven't had any issues, than again I don't have a sprinkler system. :D
This is breath taking. I´m so glad you work with big models and vintage inspiration.
Love the jewelry on the model. Glad I studied it for when I did personal work.

Stunning!!!
You are amazing. What else to say. 💓

That's great! I hope it helps! :D
@@lindsayadlerphoto It helped immensely! But I've also realised I absolutely need a little haze machine 😁 Thank you for all you do to help and educate
Amazing
Thank you so much!

Linday, that setup you made it is INSANE!! you rock !! hey can you share what Post processing you did with those pics ? ( LR or PS )
Thank you for the kind words! :D
Gorgeous, as usual.
One question if I may, if you don't have the Westcott optical modifier can you use either a snoot or a standard reflector with a grid?
Thank you
It won't be the same effect but can be an okay alternative
Thank you very much for your answer. I love your work and your videos are always inspiring.
does the haze machine set off your smoke detectors?
LOVEEEE this entire video - You've inpsired me definitely going to attempt this setup and tag you!
One technical question regarding the NanLite Projection - What would the difference between a 19 Degree Lens and a 36 Degree lens produce?
Hi! It changes the field of cover (size of the beam) in this example. :D
@@lindsayadlerphoto thank you! its such an awesome tool - recreated the photo and tagged ya!!!
I need the link to these curtains! 🙂
What strobe did you use with the Nanlite projection attachment? Does it have to be a strobe, can it be an LED constant light?
Its a Profoto D2 but I have an adapter
these images & set turned out beautiful!! 😍

Saw/met ya at WPPI this year! Where do you get all your energy? You said “I have no kids” 😁
lol well that was kind of a lie, I do have a dog child. :D
@@lindsayadlerphoto I’m hoping to make it to shutter fest next year. Do you attend shutter fest in St. Louis?
@@saucelove I do not, but you can catch me at most other shows!
In theory, couldn't you use your optical spot on a 400 W strobe for the same effect as the nanlite projection? I'm doing a Burlisque style shoot soon and that was going to be my plan.
Yes! I actually have a video coming out in November using the Optical spot instead.
Does the fog machine cause any issue with sprinkler systems?
Not really sure, yo might want to check with whatever manufacturer you decide to go with. I haven't had any issues, than again I don't have a sprinkler system. :D
Whats the power of all the lights?
If you want to know that type of information, you can check my hundreds of lighting recipes at learnwithlindsay.com
Can you use a snoot for the top spotlight?
it does work. Not quite as defined though.
Might it be possible to get a link to the curtains you used? There are so many options on Amazon 😂
I did 12ft velvet!
@@lindsayadlerphoto Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see an Amazon link! I'll have another look :)
I think the blue is too much ,looks better in the video isnt it?
👍
