Yes please I’ve noticed that some of the default mapping is wrong. 1 sim says smart cam is A but it’s really the emergency break. 2 it says F2 is for landing gear and it’s not its B. Both of these buttons on on the throttle. I looked in the controller settings for the hotas flight one. The buttons the sim says to press are correct and in settings it’s shows those buttons but it’s not mapped that way even when the sim says it is. My friend has this stick too and it’s the same for him

Great video and I will certainly try some suggestions. I will say that I have been using the default gamepad settings for a week now and actually don't mind them. I do fly for a living, and it is very typical for new pilots to over control the aircraft because it seems (to them) - overly sensitive...especially helicopters. In another area, I also remember when I was learning to wakeboard awhile ago and my friend who was an expert told me to remove the fins from the back, underside of the board. @@tel7625 yes, I do still have to pad sensitivity assist setting On. I might try turning that Off just to see the difference, but for the last few months I have had it set to On

Great video, happy with the settings for sure they're the best ones I've used but do you ever find the the controls in MSFS overall almost seem on or off? 🤔 It's nothing to do with your settings because it's been the same for all of the ones I've tried, the thumb stick gets so far across and the controls snap on 😬
To be honest, I've not used the controller for flying purposes for some time now, as I'm either using my Velocity One of Hotas One; but I personally haven't noticed what you are describing with the Xbox controller.
What a wonderful video. Thank you. I’ve tried everything and it just doesn’t work. I have attached a wireless mouse as well as a wired mouse and it just doesn’t see it. Although I am playing the cloud version and on an original Xbox base model. Not sure if that has something to do with it but I am receiving my new Xbox series X in a couple of weeks. Hope you can help concerning the mouse issue
I've found your videos very helpful - but the right button + right stick control for trim I find incredibly awkward. Most of the time it just moves my camera. It seems you have to be very precise with your timing pressing both to get it to work. I bought an inexpensive wireless keyboard and mouse because I became so frustrated with trim adjustment. On the keyboard you just press 7 or 1 on the numeric keypad. So much easier. (Lots of other controls, of course, are easier with the keyboard and mouse, but trim control was my initial reason for getting them.)
Thurustmaster put out a tweet today saying that both they and MSFS2020 devs are aware of the mapping issues and working on a fix. They also posted a diagram showing the default mappings. The prompts may not match on screen, but testing it tonight myself their mapping is working.
Yeah the download was a bit of a pain and I have great internet. 27gig update....then 20gig more of world updates. The world updates kept failing for me and had to restart the sim a few times to get then to correctly install. I do like the trim set up but the stick is quite sensitive so you have to learn to be very gentle when trimming. I also have the series S and with a good 4K HDR tv it still looks great. The buildings definitely don't look as good and the draw distance isn't that big but the whole thing is perfectly acceptable. I've only had 2 small stutters in a few hours of game play. Also have an issue where I pre ordered the premium deluxe version but it hasn't recognised it and I can't claim the upgrade in game, it's given me a lower tier upgrade, so hopefully that's fixed soon. Thanks for the settings tips I'll definitely try those.
Lots of people still having difficulties with updating - it really should've been sorted out by now. I hope you get to use your full Premium package soon.
How do manual sensitivity adjustments compare with the Assisted Controller Sensitivity setting in the Assistance Options menu? I would guess that each aircraft would potentially require slightly different manual settings, whereas the Assisted sensitivity may apply a more generic setting to all aircraft?
after the update i couldn't use the mouse anymore (right click hold), after i defaulted it went back to normal, however all my other controller buttons are defaulted aswell and after changing the flaps from D-pad up and down to rb + lb they don't work anymore, this game is so badly optimized it makes my head hurt .
Just had upgrade 10 on Xbox. Trying to fly PC21 - 1st problem controls reversed go left on controller plane goes right etc. Rudder way too sensitive- cannot take off just crashes. So when back to this video and entered & checked the sensitivity ( which had worked great, thank you). So Xbox sensitivities as per video - totally un flyable! What am I doing wrong?
Very helpful info. Thanks. I‘d like to stick to flying with the controller, but I‘m having trouble managing the throttle. Any idea how that could be improved?
@@Huddison I changed my setup to: - throttle on RB + right stick up/down - trim on A and X (brake now on B) Throttle is still digital, but I think it‘s more intuitive and without the annoying clicking sound. Moving the trim feels pretty similar to my real life aircraft (747).
Thanks a lot Huddison for your job to the Xbox gamers ;-) ---- I have done yesterday my Xbox controler setting ( it works fine ) but i will try yours on a new profile ( named Huddison controler :-) ) . ---------- i have found a global parameter for sensitivity witch the comment say ( translate from french by me, sorry ) : " Ajust the command 's sensitivity to get an easier control with the use of Xbox pad " . This parameters is here ( in french sorry ) : Options => Options d'assistance => Pilotage => Sensibilté de la manette assistée ON/OFF . I used it with my controlers settings , and i found it "smoother/easier" when it's ON . Does it reduce the simulation from real Cessna ??? i don't know !?! --------- with the pleasure to see your future videos ;-)
Thanks for those great comments. I don't know much about how the setting you mentioned, affects aircraft like the Cessna I tried it and did not find that it made much of a difference to an aircraft's performance.
@@Huddison thank you for your quick response. I just improved, but especially on the right stick because I had put the same as on the left. I keep my -70% sensitivity on my stick left, which suits me well. Good flights to you !
New to all of this. Have a Mac and wondering what will work with MFS and my yoke/throttle kit. Will this work on X Box, and which X Box is best? Thanks
I’m just throwing this out there. Every time I press ‘let’s fly’ it always positions me on the right hand side of the cockpit. I’d be grateful for any help. Another great video btw.
If I have to guess what when wrong with the updates, I would say that did what everyone else does with next gen games - unfinished games that get last moment updates. Is hard to believe Microsoft does have many CDN (Contend Delivery Networks), so throttling from the downloads shouldn't be a thing.
Yes it's puzzling as to why Downloading/updating MSFS on either the Xbox or PC is hugely frustrating for many. Wired connections have a much better time of things, in general.
Great video and I instantly copied your settings to my Xbox Series S. Question, could you maybe do a video on how to configure camera modes on Xbox? Especially toggling Instrument View as it's quite impossible to properly read some instruments or the PFD. On PC Instrument View works like a charm, on Xbox I don't see how to get it to work.
hi what is the perfect sensivity for the controller i have ps4 double shock what is the perfect sensivity for to fly the 747 up and down little bit slower on the sensivity what is the best settings
Every time I change my sensitivity & some controls & save it & the go through my settings it always goes back to default. Any ideas where I’m going wrong?
Great video. I’ll give the sensitivity settings a try for the Hotas One as the trim adjustment on the back of the throttle is giving me a hard time to fine tune it, feel like im on a roller coaster when flying the Cessna 152. It always seems to veer right as well, having never played the pc version or flown in real life wasn’t sure if that is what happens or a tweak of the sensitivity on the stick is needed too?
@@scotmash1 Thanks. I looked through all of the planes and noticed it’s on some of the bigger planes, but not the small ones like the Cessna’s. It sounds as though it’s something a mechanic would alter in real life and not from the cockpit. If I go into World map, click on the aircraft tab then that brings up another tab for customization which has “Authority adjustment” for elevator, rudder and aileron which can be changed to +/- 2 degrees. Any idea if this is the tweak you can do if you know which way the plane tries to veer and is trial and error until you find the sweet spot? Guess I can give it a go to see what happens if I set no wind.
this works perfectly BUT with Thrustmaster HOTAS one setup, the Sensitivity Settings do NOT STAY set after restarting the program. So every time I come back to play all my hotas sensitivity settings are back to default. Does anyone else have this problem? Can you please note this for your next video?? thank you!!!
I know it could sound weird, but is there an option to set Ascending/Descending buttons to normal(not in reverse as its by default). I want to move trigger up and plane goes up, and when move down, then it goes down. Couldn’t find which is correct option for that.
@@Huddison well, don’t know if it’s trim, couldn’t find such option there. Ususally there is an option to use Invert axis in games, but its by default here, so tried to find where to change. When I push/move left trigger down then aircraft gains altitude, but when I push left trigger up then plane decrease altitude. Hope it’s better to understand, cos I want these controls in reverse - to remove invert axis option 😅
@huddison, nice video, I have a few questions, with these settings do you disable the Xbox pad assist option in the assist settings? Also are these settings good for most aircraft in game from say a Cessna 152 to a320 airliner? Thanks
The controller feels flimsy because you are using the non elite series 2 controller. Its more solid when using a controller that has paddles behind the controller. Making it seamless to use the joysticks without taking thumbs off of joysticks.
Hi. I had the same problem as I had it on pc, so it carried my controls over to this. Just add a mouse and change xbox center back to default, then it will all be good.
it seems they cant make the downloads work at all. I get decent speeds but yesterday when i did the update the updater seemed to delete my installation so i have to download it all again. Thats on pc.
@@Huddison its differnet for everyone. I had to download about half a year worth of updates and marketplace content, it was about 150 gigs in total. The speed was crap like 5-10mb but when I disabled my vpn it jumped to 50mb
Love your videos and desperately seeking help! I am using my Xbox and trying to go through the training and have also just tried to fly the 152. Every time I try to use rudder instead of it deflecting and returning to neutral it stays in the deflection it won’t return to neutral. This makes it impossible to stay on center line or make coordinated turns. I have gone to settings and it shows normal there. If anyone can help or guide to help it would be greatly appreciated!! Oh background I am not an actual pilot but I do fly rc so I am aware of control surfaces and trim
Great help with the control sensitivity settings, but wayyyy too wordy. I don't really need to know about the XBox 360 on the PC or any of that. I came here to look for what the title says. The tips are here, and they were good tips...but this could easily be boiled down to a 10 minute or less video. It would be great if you would do that.
Hi huddison thanks. Agin for the info It really s helps but my rudder still a bit aggressive in the spitfire. Mk9 but the rest of settings working well
Hi, try adding a bit more dead-zone on the rudder sensitivities and/or decreasing the sensitivity on the + access, until it starts to feel right for you.

Unfortunately I had an update for the game so wasn’t able to get on it last night but will get on tonight after work and change the settings.
That sounds like a helpful tip & always best to use controls that suit you.
Amazing thank you ✈️🎮 👍
Anyone else having a nightmare with the Hotas one? The button mapping is all over the place. I play on the series s for reference
I'll be doing my best to untangle it.
@@Huddison looking forward to it 👌🏻
Same problem here
Thurustmaster put out a tweet today saying that both they and MSFS2020 devs are aware of the mapping issues and working on a fix. They also posted a diagram showing the default mappings. The prompts may not match on screen, but testing it tonight myself their mapping is working.
@@dv8754 Great stuff, please keep us informed.
How do you turn on the Cursor for Xbox X Series, I can’t seem to have a cursor in the game. Pressing the left stick does nothing.
Join our Discord, there's a discussion and suggestions in one of the channels there.
How do manual sensitivity adjustments compare with the Assisted Controller Sensitivity setting in the Assistance Options menu? I would guess that each aircraft would potentially require slightly different manual settings, whereas the Assisted sensitivity may apply a more generic setting to all aircraft?
Interesting thoughts - I really ned to redo this video as I'm constantly adjusting my Gamepad settings, to try and perfect them.
My XboxS controllers left stick has stopped working as throttle and roll. Otherwise it works, eg to move the cursor. Any ideas please?

Hi Huddison, One question under assistive options piloting do you have assisted controller sensitivity no or off have you tried it both ways?
Good question: I have it off, as I didn't see much benefit with it on.

Hello, is a new device like X37 or 777 coming for Xbox?
The 737 might come along eventually.
after the update i couldn't use the mouse anymore (right click hold), after i defaulted it went back to normal, however all my other controller buttons are defaulted aswell and after changing the flaps from D-pad up and down to rb + lb they don't work anymore, this game is so badly optimized it makes my head hurt .
Not sure what's going on there for you. I can imagine it is frustrating though.
Thanks! this help me much ✈️
Glad it helped!

Throttle is a bit tricky with the gamepad. I find just tapping it (or dabbing it) helps to make small airspeed adjustments.
@@Huddison I changed my setup to:
- throttle on RB + right stick up/down
- trim on A and X (brake now on B)
Throttle is still digital, but I think it‘s more intuitive and without the annoying clicking sound.
@@DiddMag And to you too 🛫
New to all of this. Have a Mac and wondering what will work with MFS and my yoke/throttle kit. Will this work on X Box, and which X Box is best? Thanks
Do you own a yoke setup already - which one? The Series X is the best way to go on Xbox.
I’m just throwing this out there. Every time I press ‘let’s fly’ it always positions me on the right hand side of the cockpit. I’d be grateful for any help. Another great video btw.
That's a strange one 🤔. See one of the tips here ua-cam.com/video/gcFjud7vI1Q/v-deo.html on how to alter your starting/default position.
@@Huddison That sorted it for me thank you. I don’t recall moving the settings but I suppose I must have.
@@littlenemo14 That's good to hear you fixed it Steve.
Great vid! Has anyone figured out liveries yet tho? I’ve been wanting to change it to my favorite airlines but I can’t
Yes got plans for a video on that.
Using the XBox Series X controller how do I zoom in on cockpit instruments to see them closer? Thanks for the videos and help
A USB mouse would be your best bet for that.
Any changes made to the flight simulator since this video was uploaded? Any need to tweek the settings today?
This is my most recent video on an Xbox controller settings; it might have an extra tweak or 2 in there for you.
I see. Is it the same settings for the Xbox One X (not latest Series X) controller? Same as the 360 controller? @@Huddison
You didn't say one word about what do "Extremity dead zone" and "Reactivity" mean and do? Thx
I've talked about that in other of my videos.
hi what is the perfect sensivity for the controller i have ps4 double shock what is the perfect sensivity for to fly the 747 up and down little bit slower on the sensivity what is the best settings
Every time I change my sensitivity & some controls & save it & the go through my settings it always goes back to default. Any ideas where I’m going wrong?
Are you getting the option to create/name a new profile?
@@Huddison found out it only happens when I create them. In game the profiles I’ve created r there. Thanks for the reply thou.
I'll be hopefully covering that in my next video ;)
Give left aileron or rudder trim from cockpit
@@chrisbird6996 you always best to ai auto trim in those planes
Can you plz make a vid on which yokes or sticks are compatible with the Xbox❤️?
No yokes yet. Check for a recentish video I made on the Xbox version, discussing that ( I can't link it atm, as I'm away & on my mobile).
@@Huddison how about flight sticks? Like the hotmas
@@xa-124 The hotas One and the Hori hotas are the only options atm.

One last question,
Can I get liveries on Xbox?
Thanks a lot
Always my pleasure.
this works perfectly BUT with Thrustmaster HOTAS one setup, the Sensitivity Settings do NOT STAY set after restarting the program. So every time I come back to play all my hotas sensitivity settings are back to default. Does anyone else have this problem? Can you please note this for your next video?? thank you!!!
On PC or Xbox?
The Hotas One is bugged at this moment and pretty unusable. Hopefully a patch will mend it
I know it could sound weird, but is there an option to set Ascending/Descending buttons to normal(not in reverse as its by default). I want to move trigger up and plane goes up, and when move down, then it goes down. Couldn’t find which is correct option for that.
Trim has a similar effect to what you're describing - If I am understanding your question correctly.
@@Revers69 I'll think on this.
@@Huddison he wants point and shoot pretty much he just wants to invert pitch axis so up is up and down is down - hope this simple explanation helps
I can’t figure out how to add a space in the departure typing.
Using the gamepad you mean - from memory just hit your Y button on the controller.
@@Huddison When you're writing a destination that's two words how do you make a space between them? Must sound dumb, sorry.
@huddison, nice video, I have a few questions, with these settings do you disable the Xbox pad assist option in the assist settings?
Also are these settings good for most aircraft in game from say a Cessna 152 to a320 airliner?
Thanks
Each aircraft handles differently, so set up sensitivities to suit each one.
The controller feels flimsy because you are using the non elite series 2 controller. Its more solid when using a controller that has paddles behind the controller. Making it seamless to use the joysticks without taking thumbs off of joysticks.
Sounds good
Great video thanks! Do you know how to invert y axis look in cockpit view?
I'll get back to you.
Is there a printable Xbox Controller scheme anywhere? I am searching but nothing yet
Not that I know of - keep searching for us!
I can't use the xbox s|x controller the cursor not showing!! Any help ?
I had that issue too. Plug in a mouse and get rid of all Xbox controller profiles. Restart the program and it should hopefully work.
PC has always had difficulties with downloading MSFS - a nightmare.
Do you have your rudder mapped to 'Rudder Axis'?
I can't pause my plane in the air anymore for some reason the option isn't there.
I missed this comment TJ - did you get it sorted?
👍
Can you do a vid setting up the hotas one for the console version

FYI cache is pronounced 'cash' like an arms cache
Great help with the control sensitivity settings, but wayyyy too wordy. I don't really need to know about the XBox 360 on the PC or any of that. I came here to look for what the title says. The tips are here, and they were good tips...but this could easily be boiled down to a 10 minute or less video. It would be great if you would do that.
You'll get used to it.
I just wanna know how to move my plane with my controller
22:41 Is Bing Maps on for you?
Yes absolutely.
Hello, when I pilot the 747 and I reach some altitude always ask me to set the altimeter..but I don’t know how to set 😭 somebody knows?
Hi huddison thanks. Agin for the info It really s helps but my rudder still a bit aggressive in the spitfire. Mk9 but the rest of settings working well

Do you still have throttle set to A and B buttons??
Yes, unless you reassign them
@@Huddison When starting the tutorials the controls felt off but I wasn’t confident enough to tinker with the settings, so searched UA-cam and found your video. So after watching this video yesterday I went home and was going to try your suggestions for the sensitivity, as in didn’t like the setup the game had. Unfortunately I had an update for the game so wasn’t able to get on it last night but will get on tonight after work and change the settings. But I also don’t like the throttle being set to holding A to apply power and holding B to decrease it. And just wondered if you’d had assigned a different control scheme for it?
i used you previous game controller and then this they messed it up, Thanks for the update so to speak
