Absolutely wicked loop. I see what you did there
Clearly Uncle Sam is the winner here
Thanks for sharing this info! Even though you're not making much from UA-cam, the small audience that you have benefits a lot from watching this.
He only made $289.48 on UA-cam o_o; Wow, mind blowing stats. I still have along way to go until I make $1 on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing a realistic perspective and not some flashy object syndrome.
This one of the few times the thumbnail undersopd the content wow, 160k wasnt even CLOSE
Love the transparency man tysm
thanks for sharing this keep up with the honesty
Every principal engineer I know from faang claim they make over 1.2mil in salary+rsu.
Your numbers seem much more reasonable
Operative word there was “we” :) I make about the same as you (550k) for 9-5. Do you defer any income? Why or why not?
What is your job
is that RSU vested or granted? Either way, amazing job 👏
Did you cash out those investment gains and paid capital gains tax?
Can you help a laid off homie with wisdom on how to start a dev agency? My students are all principals now, I need to lvl up 😆 (not in code, I speak it all) but we all know startups is where it's at
🥜🥜 for base
Only a couple hundred from UA-cam? With almost 150k subs?
I wonder how long this video will be publicly available.
Why wouldn't it be? His AWS total compensation is on the low end of Principal.
cmiiw but yt doesn't allow creators to show their yt income
@@winaganis isn't that like an old urban myth? i've seen lots of ppl share their yt income now days. but 5 years ago or something i remember creators saying they weren't allowed to. i just feel like they said that to dodge the question
A few months atleast😊
@@brimmed i think its the ones who have special contracts that have a fixed income
What?! He didn't Pay any income tax but he paid 322 thousand?! I don't get it.
Now if you're a business owner, you wouldn't have to pay uncle Sam so much of your earnings!!
I am. An mba from indias premier. Insitute o wish to apply in Amazon can u be a reference
Your taxes is more than 7 of my generations total earned income 😂
🤯
Do similar video for 2023
No income tax.. Good
You still have to pay federal income taxes just not state income taxes.
Did you miss the part where he showed how much he paid in federal taxes?
Your base as a principal eng is 160k?? Levels FYI begs to differ 🤔 I don’t get it
That's about making $80 an hour if you work full time 40 hours per week (not including taxes). The point is you need to be of a higher quality man that provides value and put in the hours unlike so many degenerates that just "wants money".
They redid the base salaries in 2022. In 2021 the cap on base salaries was 160k.
Did you miss the part about $375k in RSUs, aka $535k total comp?
I'm deeply moved by this material. A book I read with similar themes profoundly changed my outlook. "AWS Unleashed: Mastering Amazon Web Services for Software Engineers" by Various Authors
👍👍
Man, makes me want to jump into tech...
This is the elite of tech making this kind of money. You have a very small chance of getting there.
@@kattihatt not true. Chance has nothing to do with it, just time, dedication and location.
@@CareerProgramming its a small chance that anyone can put in the time and dedication. Also, you have to be born in the right place and have over average intelligence to reach this.
You can definitely make progress!! Gotta start somewhere. But yes, unfortunately a lot of what Jakob says is correct, Steve has at least one engineer parent; I think it was 2
Still worth starting!! Alex Martelli, very useful and celebrated python contributor on Stackoverflow, started in grad school
You paid uncle sam $322,474 in Taxes but then you said you don't have to pay income taxes. I don't get it, need a little clarification here.
He had to pay federal income tax. Washington state doesn’t have state income tax.
@@yapperyup Oh, oh. I got it, thanks.
bruh coz u got married u lost 300, 000 dollars?? i aint marrying
Your paying too much taxes. Would you be interested in paying less? Im a GP and I also make over a $1m a year.
I'll bite, how? I'm moving out of California to reduce monthly state income tax but that's about the only trick i have
Wtf is a gp?
First
way too dumb money in US tech :D Imagine getting paid that much. it is well above 5-20x as the absolutely highest paid jobs in any other country. Landing will not be soft. Good luck lads!
Pointlessly negative and jealous, relax man
I think it’s the opposite. All the other jobs are probably massively underpaid.
I wonder what is consider hard landing? Dude is making $1m per year. How much money or how many more year he needs to work to retire?
@@der0ng He could probably retire now if he wanted to, but what the hell would he be doing with all of his time? If an individual was an overachiever and possessed mad skills would you think he'd spend all of his time laying on a couch and eating potato chips watching porno all day? Some people just like being productive.
It’s not that much when you consider the purchasing power we have. If we worked remotely from a different kind of country then it’d be a different story.
I hope your wife is appreciative of your disproportunate inputs. Otherwise beta males get left and looted. It only takes one girls trip or for them to feel unhappy.
Good for you but no one really cares lol
Lol I do ❤
I do as well. Many people do since wage transparency is good for everyone
