hello ladies, am ever so refreshed by the episodes. Its like my school of life. Among all the things I have learnt from watching this, I have realized I need to go revise myself. Sometimes we shame people, not because we are mean but we simple don't understand the implication of what we are saying. I think we all need to employ that inner filter , the one that asks why. why am I saying this and to what end. If we could all achieve that, The world would be a kinder place. So lets be more intentional. That school shaming thing, manya P.4 north for the smart and P. 4 east students even have to do exams from another center because God forbid there foreseen second grades will reflect badly on the school. Shame on all those schools, education beyond being a business ought to be a service. Otherwise thank you .

Shame is such a great discussion ladies, thank you so much 🙏 Personally, I've been shamed over alot of things but let me share about shaming people for their appearance. I have short hair,I've had it for many years now but almost everyone had something to say about it! I've been told things like,"are you so broke you can't do your hair, why doesn't your boyfriend give you money to buy weaves and plait your hair, you look like a boy, don't you know that "envili kitibwa kya bakyala",do your hair so you look good for men,you look so kiddish with that hair, why do you wear hats all the time!"the list goes on! Then there people especially women that notice everything on your face, why don't you remove those warts, get such and such a cream for that scar, you look too plain, kwegamba😏😏😏
Anyway, thank you for this discussion ladies. You all look great.

Growing up I was always skin shamed due to my deep melanin complexion. After high school I even started bleaching my skin. Its only in University that I decided to accept and love myself. As an adult am now been shamed for not been married or having children at 31years.I was the first female to get a degree in the family and my aunties constantly say it's due to my education that's why I keep turning men away.My young sister who is three years younger than me is also been shamed for not been married. It even reached an extent of family members blaming my dad got taking as to school.Despite the shaming,I don't feel bad I know one day God will bless me with marriage and my rule is that I will never have children outside marriage.Shaming is such a bad vice that we all need to stop.As human beings we go through alot let's learn to celebrate peoples success at Gods own given time. This was a lovely discussion ladies I really enjoyed.Keep up the good work.

I was shamed a lot for my weight(i was really tiny), especially at school. It caused me so much trauma and I became anti-social. I even hated the idea of having friends for a long time, particularly female friends because they would always make it a point to point out things about me that I already knew about myself and was battling with. It has taken me years to undo the damage that was done.

Pursue it. Even if it takes multiple applications!! I’m currently in a PhD student in the USA. The entrance exam I just could not get an “acceptable” score despite having 4.0 in my masters program. Several schools sent rejection letters saying that overall I’m a good candidate but they couldn’t overlook my low scores on the graduate acceptance exam (GRE).
I said the school who wants me despite my test scores will accept me!!
I’m about to graduate next year with my PhD with a 3.9 GPA.

Well done Claire for mentioning dyscalculia and dyslexia because so many people are shamed for not excelling at Maths and English yet these are special educational needs that need to be handled in a professionally special way for these particular people to learn and excel at these subjects. It’s also unfair to mark/ assess such students using the same rubric as students without those special needs. Just like Fiona mentioned, it’s ignorance that people shame such people yet they instead need help. I know in the UK for example, students are required to mention if they are dyslexic if writing essays so that there’s a provision for them to have an additional oral assessment where they explain their research/ essay and to reduce bias based on wrong spellings or order of words.

I do agree with most of the things that have been mentioned. However, when it comes to the issue of shaming, i believe that there's people who are not about to stop doing it no matter how much we talk about, the power however lies in someones ability to be self aware and confident .This gives someone the ability not be so affected by the outside noise. PS. you only have the power control how you react to it but not the power to control those who do it

Part of body shaming: Shaming girls when they start their period, when their breasts start growing. The shame women go through starts at a young age. Some of this shame starts within the family. It's so sad. We literally had a teacher in primary school who shamed girls whose bodies were starting to develop eg getting hips. I can't imagine how that affected them.

We both had very different goals and barely saw eye to eye (metaphorically and literally😂) it was kind of a long distance relationship, emphasis on the ‘kind of’. Point is, within the same month of the break up i met an amazing man who checks all the boxes but because of fear of being shamed for getting into another serious relationship so soon, ive been keeping him in the closet😬. I use the excuse of i want this relationship to be “private” yet in actual sense its a secret. Any advice?

Mwana, being a mom is like being the whole world, after struggling to choose a menu for the family, there's that daily struggle of what to wear too

Am ashamed of the schools I went to, I think because I wasn't able to go to schools I dreamt of, because my dad couldn't afford them. I keep lying about the schools and guess what......................... It makes me soooooo comfortable. I am always like, ''what if this person finds out''😒😒😒.

My dear feel free with yourself,,,, you lie to impress people? No way its the capacity ur Dad had and he did his best. Of course the problem with lies they don't hide forever still one day they will find out. Be you and appreciate what you got ❤️❤️
