He cared and loved his sister so much that he couldn't risk losing her too. He had just learned that was his sister, but he and Leia had a special bond and connection since the first time they met.
The rise of the choir just after Luke says NEVER! and starts beating on Vader is one of my most haunting and memorable moments of my movie viewing childhood cause this was the moment when the hero was closest to true defeat and the music that accompanied enhanced it tenfold
John Axios That’s why I not only love this scene. But Star Wars in general. If Luke kills Vader or Palpatine it’s over. Then he will complete his journey to become a sith. That’s why he throws his saber away after he sees that him and Vader are the same.
Luke actually never saves the day at the end of any of the films, he always has someone else help him in the end. In this case, he put all of his faith in Vader, and he became the hero in the end, also because it was ANAKIN who was destined to bring balance to the force. Luke's best quality is that he's capable of surrendering himself completely to his trust in the force, and if he had actually taken the agency of killing Vader and Palpatine then he truly would've severed that connection for his own selfishness, which is a rabbithole into the Dark Side.
Robo Cat This song and it's scene is deep as shit when you think about it from Vader's perspective. Perhaps it would be better to kill his son and prevent him from going through the pain of being the Emperor's robot slave, but could he even bring himself to do it? Vader didn't know what to do anymore.
Probably my favourite bit of score from the original trilogy- those vocals are so haunting. It perfectly suits a father and son dealing with the trauma left in the wake of an older, manipulative, abusive figure. Lucas was 100% right when he described the six films as a family drama.
- You all know Darth Vader as one of the vilest beings in the history. He became the symbol of evil of which the architect was the emperor himself. He was the personification of evil in minds of many, all of you included. But i can tell you that he had good within. - Well that certainly is an interesting point of view. - Please try to understand. Somewhere deep within him, in the core of his personality, there was a man which Darth Vader once was. Deep beneath the layers of evil this man still existed. In the last moments of his life, that part of his personality triumphed. He denied his lord and master, the emperor, and killed him. - I thought that you were the one that killed the emperor. - I killed the emperor by reaching to the instincts of good that were still within Darth Vaders heart and helped him return to the light side of the force. I was merely a tool of change that allowed him to reject the evil. - You had to move his feelings deeply. - Thats how it was. Love is a powerfull weapon against the dark side of the force. And a sons love for his father was what saved Darth Vader.
This music captures the fight between Father and Son , Light and Dark so perfectly............ and the fact you don't hear this music in any other part of the franchise is amazing.
Almost like all the souls of our friends and foes from not just the clone wars but all of Starwars timeline is watching, encouraging both sides. Fuck the sequels. THIS was the battle to balance out the force. The climax of Star wars and without a doubt the scene that to me is the greatest redemption arc in movie history. I dont think I’ll ever be able to acknowledge the sequels as little more than a fanfiction. It simply tries to hard to piss on the legacy of this moment. Star wars as of now ended with Mandalorian season 2. In my humble opinion
"You were the chosen one." "He is the chosen one." "I wont leave you, not this time." "I sense your strong feelings, feelings of pain, loss." "Your fall, will by my ascension to the sith." "You have nothing left to teach me." "You can't stop the change any more than you can stop the suns from setting." "You've taken everything from me!" "Anakin, you're breaking my heart." "I sense much fear in you." "What have I done?" "Don't listen to him, Anakin!" "Will I ever see you again?" "You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you." "Stop now, come back, I love you." "I feel the conflict within you, let go of your hate." "I believe you will bring balance to the force, that you will face your demons and save the universe." "Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose" "All I want is your love." "It is too late for me, son" "I know... there is still good in him." "Father, please!" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
The last battle of Vader, before Anakin comes back to his senses and kills the emperor. (The Disney movie with the emperor I wouldn't even call it canon.) Anakin wished he would retake all of those bad things he was done but he can't. He lived on with grief and found happiness from his own son, Luke.
The part where he looks at his father’s severed hand and then looks at and clutches his own always gets me. It’s like he’s thinking: “Yikes, I’m turning into my own father and I need to stop before I can’t come back from this”. Gives me chills every time Luke recognizes how much he and Anakin are alike and how easy it could’ve been for Luke to make the same mistakes.
501st journal-Hoth Our finest hour. No one ever complained about the cold on hoth- we never felt it, even though we were blinded blizzards we could see the final end of the rebellion in our blaster sights-was it only a mirage? This song shows the light and the dark of Anakin battle against one another for power or love to Luke. It also shows Luke fighting hard for his true father that is caged in Vader.
I don't think Vader would do a dislike, after all he was finally brought to light, after been lost int he darkness for far to long, he was set free and found his peace.

Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps *she will."* "Never!"
In all of the Star Wars films this was the only scene that this song fits into. The Prequels although I & II ended it success the entire outcome of the trilogy was loss. All the other Shows and stand alone films this wouldn’t fit either. And I think it’s the reason this is such and underrated theme from Star Wars. It perfectly captures the battle between father and son, Luke tapping into the dark side, Vader fighting the dark side and eventually redeemed. It’s just an absolute perfect theme.

i just wanna say that i heared this on some "best lightsabre duels in star wars 1-6" clip, when luke is starting to beat his father..... just wow ... i am rarely overwhelmed AND BTW I WAS NEVER A STAR WARS FAN. i like the franchise i watched all movies but was never a true fan
This literally NEVER gets old!!!
I so thank you for doing this loop.
This is THE best 30 seconds of all time...well I think it is & with the context of the story too! I mean there are numerous beautiful & incredible things by Williams just in this franchise alone; but this is AT THE TOP!
I’m SO glad there is someone else who appreciates this section. Jedi’s fury is NEVER mentioned in top lists for Williams greatest or anything.🎵🤷🏽♀️
I’m a weirdo that thinks the right music/chord structure can help one vibrate higher.
So often, I use this as one of the pieces I use to calm me & help me center myself. 🧘🏽♀️ (Oppress my bad temper.)
ANYWAY, thank you for doing this.
so beautifull song
my favorite of all time
This music matches the gothic architectural style so well, sharp and pointy and dark
Those violins in 7th giving me the chills
"You cannot hide forever, Luke."
"I will not fight you."
"Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you, your feelings for them are strong. Especially for. . . *sister.* So, you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps *she will."*
"Never!"
Vader, a terrible Villain but also the most tragic hero♥ ;_;
What?
A terrible villain!? He's the most recognised villain in all of cinema!
@YamiXeno I think by Terrible he means evil and vile

In all of the Star Wars films this was the only scene that this song fits into. The Prequels although I & II ended it success the entire outcome of the trilogy was loss. All the other Shows and stand alone films this wouldn’t fit either. And I think it’s the reason this is such and underrated theme from Star Wars. It perfectly captures the battle between father and son, Luke tapping into the dark side, Vader fighting the dark side and eventually redeemed. It’s just an absolute perfect theme.
Very thanks for that song
"I didn't want a single cheese burger!!!"
"Your order and your lust for big macs have already done that, you have allowed this.. Ronald McDonald to twist your mind so now you become the very customer you swore to destroy"
"Don't lecture me Obi Wan I can see through the lies of the Burger King, I don't fear the Big Mac's as you do. I have brought fries, nuggets, drinks, and cheese burgers to my new empire"
"Your new empire? "
"Don't make me fry you"
People underestimated the power of this music track
This is what my emotional pain feels like
Goosebumps
He Is The Chosen One. He will bring balance to the force. Train Him
Are you an angel?
From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again... I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you- I can't breath. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do?
I promise you, I will even learn to stop people from dying.”
What if I told you that the Republic was now under the control of a dark lord of the Sith?
Victory? Victory you say? Master Obi-Wan, not victory. The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.
“Why do I get the feeling you’re going to be the death of me?”
“I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.”
I will do what I must.
You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the force... not leave it in darkness!
I HATE YOU!
It Seems in your anger. you killed her
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“In the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame.
"Revenge is not the Jedi Way...."
"I AM NO JEDI"
i'm sorry Anakin...for everything
You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker....i did
"I Want To Come With You To Alderaan. There's Nothing For Me Here Now. I Want To Learn The Ways Of The Force And Become A Jedi Like My Father."
"You'll Find I'm Full Of Surprises."
"i can sense the conflict within you. let go of your hate"
"I'll Never Turn To The Dark Side. You've Failed Your Highness. I Am A Jedi... Like My Father Before Me."
"The Force Is Strong In My Family. My Father Has It. I Have It. My Sister Has It."
"i'm just a simple man making his way in the universe...like my father before me
"This is the Way"
"Fate sometimes steps in to rescue the wretched"
This music is just so good it kind of does make me feel like I could cry to this
This music plays during the Vader/emperor boss fight in the lego Star Wars games
Best Music ever
Damn those prequel/sequel films. If you allow yourself to ONLY watch star wars (1977) empire (1980) and return of the Jedi (1983). The quality of your life will be happier.
Aww c'mon the prequels weren't that bad! I completely agree with you on the sequels though.
Okay, you're right about the sequels, but to damn the prequels is to damn the originals. And damning either the prequels or the originals is to damn George Lucas and Star Wars entirely. And if you damn the prequels, you're not a Star Wars fan.
just rewatched return of the jedi and this hit really really hard in the feelings man
Such an underrated soundtrack
“I can feel your presence Katarn… Stand and face me Katarn!”
BEST SONG EVER
Problem with sequels, no emotions
Coolvids...
Bra so many emotions in this one song
battle between the dark and the light, forever will this song be about Vader and LUKE!
"i am Jedi like my father before me"
I’m here after the Mando S2 Finale and do you know how amazing it would have been if they played this theme in the background in that end scene! I would have fully cried 😂😂😂😭😭
This gives me the chill
