Glad you liked it so much! Yes I sang the solo on Amazing Grace with Zero8. Rasmus on the far right is the Zero8 director. Thanks Kathy for forwarding this to us.
Emanuel, I have been a Society member since 1974, and grew up around barbershop before that, and your Notre Dame Medley performance on that AIC show is my all-time favorite performance! I have watched both video versions dozens of times and still revel in the musicianship each of you displayed. I still get chills, and still smile throughout! It isn't a medley, it's an opera! I also like to listen concentrating on one voice at a time. And like Paul McCartney's bass guitar with the Beatles, your baritone performance isn't just an integral compliment for each chord. You sing your part like you are the Lead. Bravo! I only wish that the "remastered" video included your dramatic, scene-setting intro. Sam needs to watch that one too to get the complete #majorgaling!
Thank you for reviewing!! I had a very similar reaction about the first seven times I watched this. They are so amazing! And English isn't even their first language (they’re Swedish).
I've watched the notre dame medley live, and it is BY FAR the best barbershop arrangement they have ever done, if not one of the best in the world. Although, if you want another great medley, listen to Aladdin medley by Vocal Spectrum! Cheers.
The entire audience was catapulted out of their seats in the same instant as the harmony ended. Insane reaction, to an insane performance. These guys are on some high, no end level shit.
So glad you decided to watch this one, loved the reaction. I literally watched it three times tonight alone before I saw your video and still react the same way as you every time. I know you asked for more Ringmasters recommendations, and they've got plenty of great stuff, but you might like to check out part of the New Zealand contribution to barbershop. This link is to "Funk Medley" from the chorus Vocal FX, and comes complete with a haka. What more could you want? ua-cam.com/video/zrdE15auxlQ/v-deo.html
Seeing them in person is the best treat. They have a different bass now, but I watched them in Hershey, PA last March, absolute chills and goosebumps. As a Harmony singer, I can say it is an unbelievable feeling to see them in person.
Thanks Sam for playing Ringmasters Notre Dame as they are one of the all time greatest Barbershop Quartets in the world, bar none! Another great quartet is Main Street. And yes, Ringmasters baritone sings with Zero8 chorus :o)
Sam, I have been in the barbershop world for 50 = years what you are hearing that you cannot explain is called expanded sound. This is the production of overtones and undertones by perfect pitch and perfect vowel matching. This takes the right voices and a LOT of practice. This is a great example of expanded sound. By the way all but the bass are with Zero 8. BJW in western Kentucky
It is not perfect pitch. It is perfect tuning. Usually the baritone, but certain notes need to be "off key" and tuned to a 64th of a tone. If it were perfect pitch, piano chords would ring.
This is a performance at the 2016 AIC (Association of Champions) show at the Barbership Harmony Society International Championship convention in Nashville, TN. The men you see behind the Ringmasters are all from International Champion quartets. I believe the reason it was remastered is to fix the echos in the theater. I was at this performance and it was even more awesome experiencing it in person. The entire crowd, as well as all of the performers behind them, all lept to their feet at the end for the biggest standing ovation of the evening. Martin (the bass singer with the crazy hair) is one of my favorite basses. Unfortunately he is no longer with Ringmasters. Their new bass sings with Zero 8 and also has a wonderful voice. Try to go to the International convention in Salt Lake City the 1st week of July 2019. It is full of fabulous quartets and chorus performances. It usually starts with the quartet quarter finals on Wednesday, sem-finals on Thursday, and finals on Saturday. Friday is the chorus contest. Thursday evening is the AIC show, and Saturday evening is the Saturday Spectacular. Plus there are lots of educational classes that you can take which is included in your convention ticket. The men who sing barbershop are the most humble and sweetest men on earth and very approachable. You will not regret going to this competition. It's a mountaintop experience! If you go, I would love to sit next to you in the audience and watch your reaction. It is the best week of the entire year!
Love this video, I have watched it probably 50 times. Ringmasters are from Stockholm Sweden, and they were the best! Emmanuel Roll , Rasmus Krigstrom, and sometimes Jacob Stenberg, are in Zero 8. Emmanuel is the lead singer for the song "Amazing Grace" and Rasmus was directing it. Unfortunately Martin (the bass with the wild hair), left the group for academic reasons
You're correct about them being from Zero8...they all are. The guy on the right (Rasmus) is now their director. And yes they are all amazing! Here's another awesome song they recorded in June just before going to Japan. m.ua-cam.com/video/tERQy1ZWGYY/v-deo.html
Technically Martin was never in Zero8, and Jakob has now left. And Zero8 came out of Ringmasters (who already formed in 2006) when Doug asked Emanuel to help recruit for it, not the other way round. But otherwise, yes!
Yes - these guys are all connected to Zero8; The tenor is the director, so... ^^ This arrangement is SO difficult; and their performance is annoyingly perfect!! PERFECT pitch!
Aloha Bruddah! It’s always a pleasure to see others appreciating our hobby (calling, really). Random question, what’s the title of the piece of music you used for this video’s intro? I’ve been trying to find it for a quite a while. Much love, Ohana!
Aloha Parker! Ummm...I don't remember, but I did get it from the UA-cam music vault. I don't remember the name at this point because this was about a year ago and MacBook Pro crashed so I lost pretty much everything. Sorry about that, but Mahalo much for watching!
Glad you liked it so much!

My pleasure :)
AHHHHH....... Dude I loved it! More so with Amazing Grace!!!! This is awesome and yes I love your voice! You guys are great!!!!!!
Thanks Sam!
Thank you Kristopher! Hopefully we can come back to an international convention soon again.

Yes, these guys are members of Zero8. Emanuel, the soloist at the beginning, is the one who sang the solo on "Amazing Grace".
Read the rest of the thread where I corrected this generalisation ;)
And the tenor in Ringmasters (far right) was directing Zero 8 in the "Amazing Grace" video you reviewed.
The "faux" ending hold for the tenor was 18 seconds, the very end was 22 seconds! AMAZING!! Right?
Not amazing. Difficult, but not at all uncommon. 20, even 30 second notes are not uncommon.
Thank you for reviewing!! I had a very similar reaction about the first seven times I watched this. They are so amazing! And English isn't even their first language (they’re Swedish).

Yes...Emanuel Roll is THE Amazing Grace soloist! You are right! Thanks for featuring this Ringmasters treasure.
I’ve watched this performance millions of times and I still get goosebumps when I hear it. ❤️😁
Shifting from a minor to a major just by the tenor hitting c#5 at the last note is simply amazing and really hard to pull off
That is a tierce de Picardy.

This is great, that bass guy can hold a note wow. Love seeing you get excited.your eyes smile along with your mouih. God job buddy
That bass guy's name is Martin Wahlgren, baritone is Emanuel Roll, lead is Jakob Stenberg and tenor is Rasmus Krigstrom . That is Ringmasters.
Seeing them in person is the best treat. They have a different bass now, but I watched them in Hershey, PA last March, absolute chills and goosebumps. As a Harmony singer, I can say it is an unbelievable feeling to see them in person.
A NEW BASS?! What happened to Martin?!
@@McKoyjb He has kids now! Parenting looks hard (perspective coming from a 14 year old), and balancing competition and family... not easy.

the right tenor made the amazing grace arrangement they sang in zero8 as well ^^

The greatest AIC performance of all time! If you're looking for a showstopper, check out Westminster Chorus' Mardi Gras March
Instant Classic had to sing right after them, I believe. Instant Classic is amazing!
Mahalo, Bruddah!🤙🏽These guys are ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!!!!🍾🥂🔥🔥🔥🤟 #SICKKKKKKKKKKKKK💣💣💣
Martin had a conflict with time away from job and family for all the performances. As much as he loves to sing, his family comes first.
Ha, I love seeing the same group of ringmastersfans diligently watching for more content as it comes out.

There must be a Ghost Doppelgänger. Was going to recommend Ringmasters to Sam. These Barbershoppers having some set of lungs !
