I preformed my first tahahjud 2 days ago and I cried of happiness after it. I regret not praying it sooner with the excuse of I don’t even pray all obligatory prayers but tahahjud has helped me and I will never be the same again.

Hadith 22: Adhering only to obligations الاقتصار على الفرائض
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allah, saying, “O Messenger of Allah, do you think if I pray the five prescribed prayers, I fast the month of Ramadan, and I uphold what is lawful and unlawful without adding anything to it, will I enter Paradise?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
نَعَمْ
Yes.

Yes, it is still acceptable, but the best time is waking up in the last third of the night. It's more rewarding .
