I love Matthew Daddario! I agree with him. Alec chose a bad time, maybe thinking that that was what Magnus needed, but it's not. Magnus needs someone to make him see that he can still be useful and that his life can still have meaning. Losing a part of who you are is painful, but it is not impossible to reinvent yourself.

Maybe they try back out of the deal with magnus' father and he shows up and kidnap Magnus. If you watch the clip closely it does look like they might be staring into the bright light of a portal. I heard and read the theory a few times
