Roof partially collapses during fully engulfed house fire

#EMERALDHILLS (San Diego) - July 24, 2020
San Diego Police and Fire received 911 calls of a house on fire and fully engulfed in flames
While we were enroute, we could see a large header of black smoke in the night sky from the 94 and the 805 interchange
Upon arrival firefighters confirmed the house was heavily involved with fire
Firefighters laddered the roof 00:16, cut holes for vertical ventilation 00:41, then got off the roof and fought the fire from the ground
At one point a portion of the roof collapsed between the attached-garage and the home itself (really good clip of the hole with flames shooting through at 03:06)
Per the Battalion Chief at scene, no one was home at the time
The cause of the fire is still be investigated, but it involved the garage and the attic of the entire home (it spread through the attic through the roof)
The fire caused $150k in damage to the structure and $50k in damage to the contents
No one is living in the home at this time, so there was nobody displaced
There is still an active scene as of 2:40 AM
