Volunteers are the heart of a community, giving countless hours of their time to help others and asking nothing in return. Community leaders gathered for the event at Eastern Florida State College's Cocoa campus and broadcast by WEFS-TV.
FLORIDA TODAY's annual Volunteer Recognition Awards, held since 1992, honor those individuals and groups who go above and beyond in the community. This year's presenting sponsor is Community Credit Union of Florida.
